What a wonderful reaction! She was 15 when she sang Wicked Game. If you like her stage presence and that tribal sound you should listen to Rechenka (The River) which she sang at 14. Because of this beginning, she had speech problems and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history. I could see the emotions, the shortness of breath and you being drawn in by her mysterious vocals. She is the Queen of goosebumps. She has so many songs that you will find amazing and in awe. It happened to me 7 months ago and there is not a day that I have not listened to her music since. She sings in English, Russian her native language, French, Spanish and Arabic. Human next which is English and then Rechenka which is by far her most popular video when she was 14 yrs old on this show called “You are Super”, she won two years in a row and before that she auditioned for the Kids version of Russia’s The Voice where she sang “ Yodel Time” which you must watch to better understand how she can sing the way she can. She is an unusual rare contralto with a polyphonic effect of her voice that sounds like two instead on one range. She is a one of a kind in our lifetime and you have so many videos you will be able to react to. The reason most reactors pause and you will find this out when KZbin blocks your video due to copyright infringements. You will eventually have to comply if you wish to continue reacting. She abused and neglected Diana and after a failed drowning attempt which she suffered a broken collar bone threw her out in the street like an unwanted kitten. Relatives came by and saw her outside crying and because the way her eyes looked and she could not talk they thought her to be mentally retarted and took her to an orphanage where her adopted mother worked. A year or so later when a friend was visiting they heard Diana singing to cartoons and it was then she suggested that she be given singing lessons to help her learn to speak. The rest is history with her winning 40-50 national and international competitions before auditioning for the first show The Voice Children’s addition which she sang “Yodel Time”, great performance but dissatisfied with what the judges did not do. Being you have the back ground that you have you will definitely want to see her greatest performance at age 14 when she performed Rechenka on this show, it is in Russian so you will want to get the lyrics to better understand the message of the song, about 16 million views. Diana's voice is a very rare dramatic contralto, it covers 4 octaves and is polyphonic, i.e. it has very strong overtones which create a beautiful impression as if two or more people singing together in a harmony with each other. This adds to the uniqness of her way of singing. What is totally new for me, - it seems that Diana has her own definition of what singing is and what it is for. I experience a trance and when it has gone away feel like i am healthier than before! No doubts, she is an outstanding human: a musician, a performer and a personality.

You have just listened to what may be a true contralto. “Diana Ankudinova, A Russian National Treasure” (My opinion), I have been following her for awhile. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Take On Me or "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful. In an interview after this show Igor, the last judge to push button, said he waited so long because he didn't want to interrupt Diana's performance with his loud buzzard. He went on to mentor her.

Igor Krutoi is a very special sort of man. He made a present for Diana - bought a flat in Moscow for Diana could continue her musical education. He is also a mentor fr Dimash and wrote a few new songs for him. As Dimash said, their cooperation became possible due to the similarity in their moral values.

The emotional depth of this performance is really singular. Rechenka likewise. It's in my opinion deeper than even the great emotional deliveries like Lara Fabian, Elvis ' gospel, Edith Piaf, Nina Simone, etc. Brilliant as they are, they never took us on a journey from a child's longing to be loved to a babushka's regret for wasting her life on a man, or Mother Nature's for wasting her world on Man, then back to the choices we make now, in 3 minutes. Really. This is a masterwork.

Hi Len. To me, Diana has something that transcends talent and training. Yes, she is impossibly talented. And, yes, she actually learned to sing before she could talk, so she has been "training" most all her life. But she has something extra, something more. She paints with her voice. She creates a private, intimate world and captures you into it. And that is what separates Diana from the rest. Mozart, Beethoven, Hendrix, Robert Johnson, and a few others also had that something extra that transcended talent and training. So does Diana.

I remember going to clubs to watch Stevie Ray before he was world famous. When Diana sings Ornery Horses, to me, that is like "Russian Blues". Diana digs deep! P.S. If Dimash is the sun Diana is the earth The most mystical experience you',ll get by Rechenka (little river) an old russian wedding song out of pre christian times, where belief was the ancestors are in it to.hear and respond to your prayer She made a whole new version of it in a world class performance you won't forget your whole life. Excellent reaction! It is definitely Diana's voice, her skill, and her approach to preparing for songs. She puts a huge emphasis on the emotional content, and seems to have a preternatural talent for bringing those emotions to her audience. I've been brought to tears, or nearly so, by nearly all of her songs, and this has not been my experience with any other music I have ever heard. She is one of a kind. Also! If you plan to do more reactions to her, know that many of her most famous performances are from the same show as this one -- "You Are Super" in English -- that was broadcast on the NTV channel (which looks like HTB). They are very aggressive in making copyright claims against reactors (congratulations on getting this video through!). Diana has a lot of great content on her channel, and I have never heard of anyone having trouble with those videos.

Diana has a depth of tragic experience to bring to her performances. Abused and abandoned at the age of 3 in the depths of a Russian winter with a broken collar bone by her mother and sent to an orphanage ... she's done it tough. She has also studied theatre which she brings to her performances which, apart from her superb and rare contralto voice, you will love! You absolutely MUST review Rechenka (river). The lyrics are about a young orphaned girl who is about to be married. She goes to the river (symbolic of the veil between life and death) there to seek advice and blessings from her dead mother as she has no one to turn to. She was 14 at the time of the audition and the performance is STUNNING!

Thank you, that was a really nice reaction to Diana, very sensitive too - About what you said, this song really has a different meaning in her interpretation. I’ve read (can’t remember where) that Diana said that she was too young (15 y.o.) to relate with the original meaning so she “resignified” the lyrics as if it is like Mother Nature talking to a human (humankind?). Well, that’s what I’ve heard and it makes sense to me.
