Savannah shouldn't be too disappointed, there's absolutely no shame in losing after she fought so hard, giving her all against the very best in her division! Shields threw the faster combinations and that's what won the fight for her imo. But at least Savannah knows exactly what she needs to work on before going into a rematch. You always learn so much more from a loss than you do from any win. Well done to Shields.....I hope she doesn't gloat about it too much!👍
@marvellousmutilwa15242 жыл бұрын
You sound sighted
@alvinjohnson24022 жыл бұрын
Well, that is what exactly won the fight. better, faster skills. Savannah is a throwback fighter. If she had learned to switch up her style it would have confused Shields. And she needs to learn how to use her great reach advantage with left jabs. That would have set up her power shots. I'm blaming her corner for not really using her height, weight, and punching power correctly. She landed a right that clearly stunned Shields, but she just plodded in at the same pace, which gave Shields time to gather her senses. I think it was in round 7th or 8th.

@@alvinjohnson2402 You make some really good points sir!! You're right about Marshall stunning Shields with a big punch but failed to capitalise on it, I saw that too! And I agree about the pace Marshall was setting, it was just too 'plodding' , there didn't seem to be any urgency, well at least until it was too late. That's the thing with the Fury style of boxing, it is one paced, very plodding! Hughie Fury's the same!There's no speed, no pop, no snap to their shots. They just seem to push them out at the same pace for the whole twelve rounds. Don't get me wrong, the Fury style of boxing is obviously effective...... but it's flaws were certainly exploited by Shields for all to see! 👍🥊🥊🇬🇧

Over all if you are going by rounds won, I agree it wasn't close because shields won most rounds, but every round shields won, was close. At no point did marshal get dominated physically or put under any pressure whatsoever, she never got on her bike to try and survive. Shields was just a level above in her skill-set, and marshal did not stop coming forward. It was a good competitive fight IMO, its just shields is the mayweather of the ladies, and marshal is maybe the Paquio, or the old canello. Yeah Shield's busted, bruised face and admission after it was the hardest fight of her life really says how "easy it was". 😂 It was nip and tuck throughout.

I had it 6-4 to shields. Shields took the first four rounds but i though savannah came on strong after that. Shields wanted to run hold and spoil in some of those mid rounds. Love to see a rematch

Excellent Observation I saw the Same. This was the female Ali Frazier thriller in manilla.

That’s how you do a post fight interview, no delusions of winning and saw it how it happened

Anyone else think Marshall was just trying fight like Tyson fury? The whole fight she looked like a terrible impression on him with stumbling footwork and throwing the jab constant with terrible head movement? Fury fights that way extremely well. She looked like a bad parody

Savannah came out to fast, got hurt, then lost her strength - I was shouting at Peter to tell her to calm down a bit - didn't know everything he said, but it was obvious to me that savannah used up to much energy in 1st few rounds/shields was much more controlled, where savannah was a bit all over the place. I was yelling for savannah to do it for Peter like he said in last round - so disappointed she didn't make it tonight!

Great fight! Marshall was going in to close,I was surprised she didn’t use her reach & keep shields at arms length & pop the jab more.

There you go someone else gets it Marshall played into shields hands if she had stayed out the fight would have been more boring but shields wouldn't have been as successful in the exchanges as there would have been as many up close

Marshall's conduct in the sport is everything. Credit to Shields for a great performance. Gutted for Savannah as I believed in her. 1-1 between these women. Hoping for a rematch if it's possible.

She did very well and should be proud. There's nothing wrong with losing to the better fighter, if you gave your best and fought like a warrior.

i hadn't watched this girl box before. Wasn't impressed AT ALL. I was under the impression she was this beast in a boxing ring, but although she was tough and didn't embarrass herself in the ring, i didn't see anything impressive nor big power. She was sold to us as a knockout artist, the biggest puncher, etc...didn't even buzz the other girl once. The other girls style was way better as well. Wanted our lass to win, but oh well the other girl always seemed to have the edge

Clarissa showed levels in this fight. Her body and head work was class. All the disrespect the fans in this country showed this is the perfect outcome LOL.

Claressa was resilient to Savannah, so it wasn't possible to overpower her or wait for her to fade. On reflection by keeping distance, trading less and awaiting better strike set ups may have been more effective. Hindsight stuff of course but I think it has potential to be much closer with adaptation.
@Teasehirt2 жыл бұрын
I thought the same, I believe they were going for the points win, and if the knockout came, it would have been the bonus. Credit to Clarrisa for sticking to her guns and not unfolding the mark of a great champion. These women beat the rest of the field hands down wish they both could have won. Well Done, Savannah, awesome display.

Respect where its due when humble in defeat but it was not close. When she watches back, her foot work and distance is what let her down. Smothered her own work, whereas if she would of just stepped back and gave herself space to land the big right hand, then she might of had more success. Im not meaning to be disrespectful here but it was plain obvious to see.

More instructions from Peter between rounds might have had the fight a bit closer for you savanah .. there was no urgency from him.. you needed waking up as you were loosing those early rounds .. Peter just left you to it Peter talks a good fight but isn’t a world level trainer
