John 5 and band rocked the House Of Blues in Anaheim Ca. last Sunday night. Good bands that rocked opened the show. I Am John 5 .This video is really cool reminds me of cartoons in the 70's and John's funky finger pick riff in the middle is nice as well as guitar tones and lead guitar riffs many different styles here people. John 5 is one the only guitarist that I can put on a list of that I admire. In the past it was Steve Vai, SRV. Jimi, Satriani, Mike Stern, EC, E Van Halen you get the message J 5 IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR ME TO SEE AND HEAR THAT I AM NOT GOING To Miss HIS Show LAST Sunday night when I had to get up at 5 am and go to work the next morning. I’m not quite sure how people can’t differentiate John 5 from Buckethead. They both have very different playing styles and theatrics or motifs. And both have played among some of the greatest musicians in this life time. It’s unfortunate in this day and age where people can’t just appreciate music and art. Rather mediocrity and banality thrive in this talentless sespool of mass social media saturation scrutinizers. Hopefully Buckethead and John 5 will lay waste to the negative vibes, and empty husks. I love John, he is probably my favourite guitarist of all time... But he needs to stop using the same soloing patterns all the time. Yeah, the sound effects here are different and the guy is mastering yet another style, this time techno/robotic.. Yet, he's still playing the same pentatonic boxes that have been there since requiem, or even earlier albums. I really miss the days of Vertigo - yeah, he did a lot of covers, but most of them were re-written to the point of being his own creation. And none of them had these repeating patterns and tricks. They sounded nice on the first albums, but the last two and this newest one are basically him putting together everything that's already been done before, just in a remixed way. God Told Me To was released in 2012, and it was such a refreshing thing to listen to! Please, John, try to really think outside of the box and come up with something cool like that. I mean, you like to challenge yourself, so why not try and write a song without allowing yourself to use any of your previous patterns & scale comfort zones. I know you can impress us!!

I recently saw an interview where he talks about just sitting and jamming to a metronome on his phone. I think even great players have 'comfort' zones that are gonna be hard to avoid writing music like that. To sit down with purposeful intentions creates more room for variation and challenging oneself, I believe. No matter how great you are, if you just sit and 'jam,' follow your fingers, gonna end up with a lot of very similar material. It's natural.

Gimmick? He just likes to enjoy himself. Gwar you could say are gimmicky as well, but I think they rock and just enjoy what they do so they do it.
