The scene where Will Smith sat craddling his doggy, knowing full well that he had no choice but to end her life was the most devastating of the movie. We all love dogs. And if we own one, or have ever owned one we all know the pain in the heart when we lose them!

When I watched the original Last man on earth ( 1964 ) with Vincent price I remember him laying on the couch with a little hand pump and ivs to him and the dog and he pumped it all night and saved the dog since he's immune . Be sure to check out the alternative ending. It's much better and truer to the novel than the 'Hollywood' ending that ended up being used. Will avoid spoilers here for anyone who hasn't seen it, but the alternative ending is ambiguous, deeper and thought provoking. Not only is that dog his only companion, the one thing that is keeping him sane, but its the last reminder of his family because his daughter gave him the dog. If I had to put down my pet like that, that would break me. It broke him to which is why he went on that suicidal night drive. He was going to take as many of them out before they got to him. @sundalangur32506 ай бұрын
@@HD00957 As you said, the book does a better job of showing their intelligence. I would say the evidence the dark seekers set the trap is actually evidenced by Neville's own actions. For starters, he wrongly asserts complete devolution after the dark seeker exposes himself to sunlight. We also never see him set random traps and he is very meticulous about keeping track of buildings he has searched. So where is the evidence that he sets random traps and why isn't he meticulous about keeping track of them? Not to mention he treats the mannequins like humans. Why would he randomly put Fred near a trap? To answer your question more directly, there is evidence of intelligence shown during the attack at the pier and the attack on his house.

@@sundalangur3250 fair. But i think he may not have been less meticulous about the traps but just extremely caught off guard about the mannequin being where it was... Seems like he genuinely lost track of where he was, what the mission was, etc. as if seeing that made him question his entire existence... thus falling into your own trap in a fit of madness I do think the seekers could've moved the mannequin, but in the movie version that we're discussing, i dont see the walkers setting that trap.

But the first version of this film was called The Last Man On Earth starring Vincent Price in 1964. Then there was The Omega Man with Charloton Heston and then there was this Will Smith version, which if you can get a copy of a dvd blu ray version with the alternative ending scene on it, it's worth while watching the alternate ending which was as far as I know never shown in cinemas and only on dvd/blu ray unless a streaming service somewhere includes the alternate ending tacked on replacing the original ending of I Am Legend. Also the alternate ending of I Am Legend is somewhat of a happier ending, but that's all I'll say about it.

The infected weren't as mindless as he thought. They learned how to set the trap by coping his trap. What also shows that they weren't totally mindless is if you noticed the leader of the infected was the only one trying to break through the glass. It wasn't just to get at Will but because the female infected Will had caught was the leader's mate.

The creatures in this movie seem more like vampires than zombies. The same is true in the book (and old movie) this is based on, "Omega Man". In the old story, the monsters become self-aware and the main character is the murderous bad guy in their eyes. Interesting. I think Will Smith had a few good songs: Parents Just Don't Understand, Gettin' Jiggy Wit It, Just the Two of Us, Summertime, Miami & Wild Wild West

Great reaction! 😊 One of the scariest movies I've ever seen! I did not think I would ever watch it again so it was fun watching it with you guys and not having to see any of the scary parts. Now I want to watch it again with my friends and get scared out of my mind, lol.

Great reaction guys! - Also, in the end scene, the glass cracks in a butterfly pattern too - which is why the little girl says 'butterfly', I think?... Also, yep, as others said, the alternative ending is my much preferred one... (Plus it has more linking to the 'fate' idea in it, like that main mutant / darkseeker actually smearing a butterfly on the glass (and his mate has a butterfly tattoo too... ;) )....

What happens to the dog in the movie is very sad and heartbreaking! Get out the box of tissues. Originally Ridley Scott was attached to direct the project in 1997, with Arnold Schwarzenegger playing the role of Robert Neville. The special makeup effects were going to be designed by Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff for the mutants known as Darkseekers, but it was cancelled as a lot of Warner Bros films were bombing at the box office. Francis Lawrence, who Directed Constantine, was brought onboard with Will Smith playing Neville.

I dont know if you caught this too, but when the glass was breaking from being bashed into by the leader, the cracks in the glass formed a butterfly.

Great reaction video, folks! I am so glad you loved this version of the movie, but I wish you guys knew more about the original novella and other adaptations because it gets WILD. This is the happiest version of the story, but the most accurate version would be Vincent Price (legend of old school 50s and 60s horror) adaptation “The Last Man on Earth.” It’s honestly the closest to the novel and it totally works to this day. Fair warning though, the real meaning behind the Book and (this movie’s) title “I Am Legend” is far more sinister in an ironic way. I don’t want to spoil it because you should really watch Price’s adaptation but let’s just say not all Legends are good. That’s it. No spoilers I swear.

will Smith was arguably the most famous rapper in the world around 1986/87...its how he got the show cuz Quincy Jones wanted him...the song parents don't understand, brand new funk, his Halloween song nitemare on my street, u saw my bumper, summertime....and Jaz from the show fresh prince of bel aire was his dj DJ JAZZY JEFF, one of the greatest dj's in hip hop history, he created the transformer scratch

Yeah his ignorant rude comment pissed me off. Bro is so u cultured and constantly talks about how he doesn’t know much because he was narrow minded in sports and then says stupid disrespectful stuff like that without confirming anything and it’s just his opinion and lack of education
@nikkisatchel469911 ай бұрын
@GooseVF-0918 I wouldn't say all that, that's extreme🤣 he is just young so he doesn't know...will was that dude in like 85-89 as far as hip hop cuz he went commercial in the 90s...he wasn't even born then, so I don't expect him to know🤣...u have to remember, most folks don't study hip hop they way they do a lot of other genres of music....thats why they react to older music so they can LEARN the history, we can't drag them for not knowing...we supposed to enlighten and teach them

This and I Robot are my two favorite WS movies. I Robot is a syfy action movie. What I like about both films is the excellent world building they did, you are transported into a whole new world. While I am Legend has the danger right there in your face I Robot gives you a constant sense of foreboding. I Robot was released in 2004.

This was not a great movie. It was fucking horrible. Read the book. It wasn't a generic happy action hero ending like the movie. The whole point of the story was that Neville learns that they have their own world and society filled with culture and laws. They see him as the boogeyman, coming out when they are sleeping and killing them one by one. He, the last man, realizes that he will forever be a part of this societies history and culture. He will be the monster that is told to their young. The last thing he says is "I am Legend". THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE STORY. FUCK THIS MOVIE SO FUCKING MUCH FOR GETTING RID OF IT.

This is the third time that this movie was made, each with different diseases and creature types, but the same concept and story line with the hero dying at the end of each movie! There was "The Last Man on Earth" starring Vincent Price in the late 50s, "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston in the early 70s and this 2007 version which, IMHO, was by far, the BEST of all three! GREAT reaction by you two!
