This is absolutely stunning!! I’ve been trying to find a woodworking project that’s fairly simple and I think this fits the bill!!

Have fun! Be careful cutting small pieces. Always cut a small piece from the end of a large piece so that you can keep your hand away from the blade. 👍

Beautiful! Where did the decision to start with 7 1/2" come from?
@AbbottsAtHome Жыл бұрын
Thanks! 7 1/2 is the width of 3 ends of that lumber. So, it fit the pattern I wanted to use. If I remember correctly, that was a flooring pattern I saw online. 👍

Hello again. This is a beautiful piece and I find it to be a fun job to do as well. Looking at it in detail, it can be seen that there are pieces of wood that are two-tone and that give the whole ensemble movement and perspective. I don't know if you bought those pieces that way or if you applied some bleaching technique to them. Thank you very much for your generosity in sharing your work.

Hi! Most of the cedar sold in my local HD and Lowe’s is generally one color. But, about 15 or 20% of it has whiter veining. I pick through the cedar to buy those pieces. 👍

Instead of wood filler, it would be better to use apoxy.
@AbbottsAtHome3 жыл бұрын
I know epoxy is better at stabilizing the wood. But, I prefer the look of wood filler for filling in the small gaps between the pieces. I actually have a second mosaic table top video where I used wood filler and epoxy. I lean towards that being the best option to restrict wood movement while getting the best look. You can see that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXqQY2qip7eVjJo One day, I might get around to testing out getting the look I like by pouring a white or wood-colored tinted epoxy layer first to fill the gaps, sanding that back, then sealing with a Matte poly. One day...

Yeah,,epoxy is for a solid finish..without the wood filler,the gaps wouldn't be filled,and you would have a really shiny table top with uneven gaps everywhere.

You know you can adjust the depth of the nail on the gun... that’s what the positive & negative dial is for. I would imagine nailing in nails from a nail gun is annoying.
@AbbottsAtHome4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but my Brad Nailer was already set to the max depth. The top on this nightstand is quite hard. And, when shooting at an angle, the tip isn't pressed against the wood like it normally is, so it doesn't get the same depth. Thanks for the tip though. Someone reading this might not know that. 👍
