Your comment is on-point! It is funny how when the Val character moved to California, they began writing her like some shy, scary, Southern Belle. Val had been on her own since she was a teenager and waited tables in dive Diners and Truck Stops. You think she survived that life being a wimp? Please! She had to have a hard edge just to deal with those truckers every day. You think J.R. or Abby or Jill could scare her? Ha!

Well, Val really did get her revenge on Abby by moving on and becoming successful writer. She and Abby didn't even seem like enemies after Season 4. Also, Abby always knew that Gary deep down loved Val more than her! And I think Val knew it, too!

In Season 5, Abby did scream at Val when Val told her she shared Abby's pain over Gary's "death". "IM GARY'S WIDOW, NOT YOU! YOU WERE NOTHING TO HIM! WHAT DID HE LEAVE YOU?" Val calmly rises as we see her pregnant belly and an odd look comes over Abby's face.

I never thought about it that way, but you are absolutely right. I think she was the one who worried Abby the most because she was such a "wild card". One day she's a victim and the next one she's flipping out on somebody. And don't get me started on the power she had over Gary. Abby was able to take him but Val was the one he kept running back to. Hmmm. . .

Garry loved Abbys brazen, gal, her sheer head strong strength to get what she wanted. Val was comfortable, decent, kind, loving but a tad too safe. Gary was a loser for a reason as he would squander any good thing he had. It wasn't until he broke free of Val, temporarily, that he finally straightened up, toughened up as he learned it from Val. He thought he moved beyond Val with abby, but Gary realized she was a conniving whore who loved money, status and power more than decency and kindness. She loved things JR loved. He was drawn back to Val because he realized she was safe, decent and the strongest person he has ever known.

Even after Val threw him out, Gary tried to reconcile with her. So he did keep coming back to her.

I really miss these shows! You see in the Dallas Series, Val Lost her first child, a Daughter, named Lucy, by her brother-in-law JR. Ewing. The Ewing's had a ton of $$$$ Val and her family did not, While Val husband, Gary, was a diowend Ewing. Basicly he was thrown out of the family. etc. Anyway decades latter, Jill, threating her Val's kids. Val has learned from being weak how it did not serve her, so now in this episode the real Val shines threw. Man they realy knew how to make night time TV Soaps, back then.
