Prototype basically explains why Niko gets scared everytime you close the game, Since they don't get put into stasis, the world just turns into a black void everytime you close the game. Which is terrifying in itself, Do it enough times and Niko will get used to it though.

Yeah that is terrifying, poor Niko! Though it’s pretty cool learning what that means the second time around, like why Niko acted the way they did in the first runthrough.
