People having high expectations of him ever since he was extremely young, having the spotlight on him and the public's eye on him must've been hard because he was a child. Mark was only 13 when he separated from his family to train alone in Korea. He was 16 when he debuted in NCT U then not even half a year later, he had to debut in two more units, one in which he had to be the leader. he was a literal CHILD when the world suddenly demanded so much from him.

Im so proud of him. He wrote and compose the song, i can feel his heart in this song. Had me tearing up. He had a hard time debuting at younger age and debuting more than 4 times and cb more than 5 times a year must be so exhausting for him. I feel so sorry for him. Mark is such a great writer and now he has had the experience of leading one of his own songs (developed with the team he often works with) from conception to finished product. I am beyond proud... I feel like Doyoung when he posted "Not even my son, why so proud?" The potential is still barely begun, so much to look forward to in the future from this gifted, wonderful person. But for now, I hope he just enjoys how this feels

so I cried watching this song the first time. So happy he has had a solo like this. At the very end of the video you see the spotlight ahead of him and hes running towards it. Somehow that's what really got me, chasing the spotlight, always running forward, not looking back. I'm sure there's gonna be lots of interpretations of this song and idk what mine is yet but this song really hit home for me, hit right in the emotions i don't even know how to express. Thanks for the video, I was curious as to how it affected other fans and your commentary is always nice to hear.

this song is possibly one of the most personal, vulnerable songs I've ever heard, it really is like a reminiscent conversation-type vibe. I can't put into words how much I LOVE it, I think that this is a huge wall he's letting down with his fans and his people, and a chance to really get to see WHO he is and HOW he has felt through his time in this industry.

Your intro was the sweetest. There are so many typical ways SM could have taken this, but how this is so... genuinely Mark, it's incredible. Being able to be himself, expressing himself vulnerably lyrically, sharing a side we don't typically see. Mark has grown so much as an artist and it was showcased beautifully. The irony of saying "I'm a child" and addressing doubts and thoughts contrasting with the maturity it takes to realize that and express it openly. Damn. This is what I've seen glimpses of in the un-cut videos and have always wanted to see more of - artist Mark.

If I understood correctly (because my internet was super sketchy during his live), he was disappointed that the song came out this year because he actually had it ready last year. He was so bummed and he apologized for it being late because he had meant to reflect the feelings of helplessness, weariness, jadedness and vulnerability that 2021 had left in people. It kinda made me sad to see him feel a bit frustrated about that.

from what i know he wrote it in 2019 and apparently he had other solo songs, older and newer ones too , but he wanted this to be out in the end of 2021 as a gift for fans like he promised for the support they gave in 2021 but their management decided to make it part of nct lab , so he was a bit disappointed about that

Mark did so good! And I'm so glad he went for an alternative rock vibe. It gave me the same feels as his collaboration OST with Joy from Red Velvet "Dream Me", very reflective and almost dark. I can't wait to see what else Mark would do with a solo project. Between Child, Dream Me and Drop (a song he wrote for a show he was on called High School Rapper, featuring Seulgi of Red Velvet), Mark's artistry is no joke.

I am so glad you're talking about him running away from whatever that's chasing him in the mv, nobody talks about it and it's something I think about a lot considering that it's a recurring nightmare for me (being chased by something and me running away/trying to hide) which therapists say it's like you wanting to run away from your problems/responsibilities. He did say 'different day, same nightmare' so like, I wonder if that's what he goes through and is channeling in his music AND mv, like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders but he's just a child, y'know? :(
