You are so correct that other countries hold their athletes in high regards for just being an Olympian. In the US they are paid for each medal; however the Jamaican Gov't might not have the funds, but the private sector should show some support. I cannot fathom why Jamaicans would want to bash their own, because being an athlete is no easy fete, it takes sacrifice, dedication and determination. Let's give it up for all athletes and when they return treat them well because they are our national trasures.

The word “Olympian” is celebrated in the U.K. they don’t need to win no Olympic medal. That U.K. 100m girl is on yoghurt in supermarkets. They regularly come on TV games shows. They visit schools. They are invited and celebrated on many platforms. We as Jamaicans should know that getting there in itself is an amazing reward. The history of the olympics is a great great thing. It’s derived from the Greek gods I believe. I’m so so proud of each and every one. So many great athletes give up along the way.

I've been hooked on the games. I'm a previous athlete, and still love watching other athletes compete by doing their Best. I love Yohan no matter what. Ladies did fantabulous ☺️☺️

@@owenwhyte6400 Yes mi G people have a right to talk suh when our athletes are at their lowest point, talk n crucify dem not encourage them. People have a right fi bury dem and hurt dem and demean them not uplift and be empathetic. Yuh right people have a right to kill with their words. Usain recently in an interview with Yendi said words spoken about him by Oral Tracey in a TVj sports commentary hurt him badly and he was exceptional but Oral Tracey has his own opinion and uttered it and this caused a deep pain. We have a right to talk but at the same time in a sport where every race is different, every year is different, we should really be kind. Thats6what is lacking in our society. We are not kind.

Thanks, Asafa, for being forthright in expressing truth about the consciousness of most of our people as it relates to competitive sports. All athletes, barring none, is worthy of encouragement and praise. One Love to all the sports warriors who have been inspired and have been courageous enough to represent their country in such and entertaining way. Our children in primary education need to be mobilized, from early as kindergarten, about good sportsmanship. 🇯🇲🎉🥰🤩

Thanks asafa for shedding light on this. Well said. Jamaica spent 1.3 billion on stupid harmony park for tourists of course. The athletes could use some that money. No priority. I live in canada and we always cheer for the Jamaicans. Believe in their abilities. So proud to cheer for them. 👏👏❤

So so true Asafa, I wish I could like this post a million times. My son does tracks and I can’t wait for the day he’s able to move pass champs and go bigger. He got a silver medal at champs for CMHS and actually took a pic with you at a function back in 2018 and Im so proud of him. He has been the champion boy from basic school come all the way to high school and I am looking forward to the day he hits the Olympic field.
