Rai R1 is to block and deflect Ki Blast and melee attacks, x and square is the afterimage strike that’ll teleport you behind the enemy. For great ape Vegeta the strat is to charge up to sparking mode, get behind him and just spam attacks. Hope that helps :)

I would recommend checking out the “Super Training” section of the game, since a lot of mechanics that aren’t shown are explained in there, especially with stuff like “super/z counters” mid combos making a huge difference and the different ways you can use perception.
