It's not even hacking tho, all they do is send packets of info to your router to the point that it stresses your IP and if you have a static IP you're fucked and depending on what booting software they have you can be offline from 15 minutes to getting a new router, but with a dynamic IP you have multiple so you can just reset your router and you're set up with a new IP
