One of the things I love about XL, is how aside from caring for her body for 37 years, keeping her alive with the magic of his heart's blood and sacrificing one of his 9 lives for her, the time he spent away from her during those years were spent tracking down the rare crafting materials to make her a 'once in a century' bow, powered by the blood of the Hydra- so she can defend herself forever. He is the true G, the grandpappy of character. He teaches her to defend herself forever and gives her the means- but doesn't shout it from the rooftops, because her safety and happiness is his joy, not her acknowledgment.

That was clever and ever so thoughtful of the Demon King of giving her a bow that's somehow bound to him . His Warmest and steadfast love expressed in the coldest nonchalant ways. The writer's cruel ending for him is heart breaking but made his beautiful and fascinating character a perfect enigma.

书里描述更好啊！海底37年之后，小夭本身就是流着相柳的血，她自己选择在月圆之日用自己的血认主，任凭弓弦割入白骨，结果这段改了，少了小夭流着相柳血的这一个细节，还少对了小夭性格的刻画；另外，出师的时候拉扯名场面也删了：“师傅对我这个徒弟可还满意？我对你一直都很满意！”；最后，相柳不舍，让小夭在出师之后又陪了他半日，分别时，小夭极其不舍….这三个细节，都没了！😭😭😭😭😭

ARRRGH!! So frustrating! She has no idea that he did that fir her he made sure if it. I keep telling myself I am going to stop watching but these keep showing up in my feed and I cannot help myself and be tortured. I know how it ends, I read the novel a few years ago and was at Starbucks reading the last four chapters and ended up ugly crying and emotionally traumatized. Had I known I do not know if I would have read it but then I would never know the fascinating, compelling, selfless and totally multi-faceted character we know as Xiang Liu. I love this character so much and despite going back and reading the novel several times, I could never bring myself to read the last three chapters and epilogue. It was too heartbreaking and painful. The drama has been surprising in making the novel come to life. Many of these scenes are how I would have imagines them. Which makes it all the more heartbreaking. I just cannot watch it. Tan Jianci is doing such an amazing job, as all the cast members. But Tan Jianci, he really embodies Xiang Liu so I literally cannot handle it when I see scenes like this. I am crying now. So sad knowing all he did and his sacrifices all for XY. I want to believe she knew; I have to believe she knew. Or I just can’t believe in anything.

For work reasons I could not see it, but I saw some asides here on KZbin, I know what the end was with his cousin and Jing, but with him, I did not understand how it ended, how did they say goodbye? Is it the scene when he eats the poison that she prepared for him and they were in a place with some dancers?

He won't declare everything he does for her in the shadows, or how he relentlessly works for the soldiers who are remnants of his foster father's army(the man who freed him from the death arena) He never declares his works of love for others, this is true character. People who scream about the good they do have poor character.
