Eh not really because this is said by starrail fanbase and other gacha fanbases of non genshin titles not the genshin fanbase. What really is telling is the actual genshin players whining "it wont work it wont work hoyo doesnt care about global players" in an attempt to downvote and unfollow hoyoverse and genshin. This is stuff said by genshin players

Here's the thing: I play all three of the games mentioned here. HSR, HI3rd, and Genshin. While I do understand that yes, the games are different and they're not supposed to be compared (cause they have different teams working on them) but when you put the stuff players get from either of the games into perspective, it's hard not to compare given that they come from the same company. Here are my experiences: HI3rd gives so many rewards to players both old and new. When I started last year, they have an event that gives so many freaking rewards for new players. I'm talking 3 S rank units (5 star equivalent in Genshin), S rank weapons for said S rank characters, and a myriad of rewards like crystals (genshin's primogem equivalent). They also have a returnee event that's MILES better than what we get in Genshin- it gives currencies for a special kinda store where you can get S-rank Valkyries, crystals, weapons, materials, etc. Other than the starter event, they also give S-rank units on a lot of events like recently we got a free copy of the Herrsher of Sentience- a meta unit (at least I think she is, don't come for me). HSR doesn't even need an explanation. I think the fact that they won "Best Game of the Year" from different app stores- barely being a year out already speaks volumes(and what did they give out? A FREE LIMITED 5 STAR THAT'S NOT ALOY). Other than the 10 pulls that they give on every patch, a lot of events, new end game content, QoL(that we were literally asking for in Genshin)- they have a lot of rewards going for them that makes players satisfied for every patch. What's also disappointing is the fact that what we were asking for in Genshin's surveys get added on other games and not Genshin itself (like that reserved Trailblaze Power like c'mon bruh). I agree with that one comment mentioned here about being tired about surveys being pointless because they don't listen and it doesn't happen anyway. I know I shouldn't've expected more cause y'know, I've been burnt before with how bad the anniversary rewards are but them saying "to tHaNk YoU fOr yOuR uNdYiNg sUpPorT foR 3 YeArs" and then give 3 SINGLE PULLS as a thanks? Is like adding salt to injury (especially when Genshin is literally one of their money printers from the amount of money players and whales are spending here).

Just wondering because I dont play honkai 3rd, how big is the game? Because the only argument I would have for genshin is that it is such a big game and also free that I don't feel like I can complain much. But if honkai 3rd is also open exploration and has a lot of story content, this argument falls flat😅

Genshin Impact players who doesn't care about the issue should atleast support those who advocate for the Changes that other players are asking for. After all if the game improved even the don't care players will Still benefit. All are happy.

Y'know honkai giving more freemos and better QoL since their old producer cai haoyu changed to jiang (also hsr producer). Cai is one of big trio of mhy but sadly in early honkai and now genshin, he's lil bit stingy.

@@beingWantable Take this from another player of all 3 games, I agree with all of the points of the original comment. I started playing all games the moment they were released and all I can say is that the Genshin rewards are the WORST among the 3 games. To answer your question, Honkai Impact is NOT an open world OVERALL but there are areas that are considered "open world". Also, the amount of story and content in Honkai Impact is definitely more than Genshin's (I don't want to spoil anything so that's all I can say about CONTENT).

I know companies are rarely transparent but I truly feel like some tension would be cut or properly redirected if we ever learned why they make the decisions they do. I would love to learn why they don’t make skins often, why QOL take the length that they do, who thought three wishes was appropriate; because somebody has to make these decisions and not knowing why makes people assume the worst when that may not be the case and the time.

I completely agree. I think the key to this whole debacle is transparency. My theory is that Hoyoverse keeps dropping the ball with Genshin because they are under pressure to make new content and new regions each year which subsequently forces them to ignore QOL updates and feature requests. I could be wrong, but honestly scope creep has always been a game company's biggest enemy lol.

It's one of trio mihoyo founder, cai haoyu. He also handle honkai impact in early years until hsr producer jiang replaced him and make more better QoL, reward and gacha system.

The most likely reason they aren't very transparent on why decisions are made is because straight telling players, "We've decided to make decisions that will lessen your experience because we've determined it isn't profitable enough to do this for you." wouldn't be well received. They're a company selling a product, at the end of the day that will always be the bottom line, but admitting that your balancing how much dissatisfaction players will tolerate in order to maximize profits would be bad PR even if it's open and honest.

To be honest my biggest genshin complaint is the lack of combat based content. The only thing we have permanently is the abyss. But you beat it once each cycle and theres no pont going back in. Not much to do after beating the story (so far) and the majority of world quests. after less than 6 months most days i log in feels like "time to get my 60 gems and farm a boss or 2 for future characters"

The only event that i genuinely having fun is the Onmyou chamber alot of buff you can get alot of room to challenge and the boss room is really close to an actual end game content you can even unlock a constellation there for a limited time. Remembering it now really confirm me that is not that they can't do it but they just simply wont do it. Why? Because people have giving up and just okey im not happy but I'll take it.

Been asking this for years now. ELYSIAN REALM EQUIVALENT IN GENSHIN PLEASE. For those who don't know, its a rouge-like mode from HI3rd that enables characters to be played differently from what they normally are. It provides atleast a refreshing gameplay whilst also providing extra rewards every week. Even Star Rail kinda have its bootleg version through SU. I really can't think why GI team couldn't implement this.

And the saddest thing is that we used to have small dungeons in each region, but in fontaine they completely gave up, now not even that can exist. The base of genshin is combat and exploration, but that's the thing you see once every 3 versions

I think I wanna see more improvements than get more rewards at this point. Like they were so close yet so far from the artifact loudouts but they just don’t want to do it. Why don’t they want to improve? They put all the improvements in HSR to show us the possibility

That's a pretty bad analogy since it can just as easily be flipped around. "It's like eating a pizza and saying 'this is worse than a full course meal'" Better analogies can be made, disappointment and complaint can be expressed much better than a poorly thought out analogy

@@annaairahala9462 hahha no. before i got used to genshin's stinginess and inflexibility (which took two years, by the way), i felt like a goddamn beggar eating crumbs off the floor. your analogy doesn't work. this game actually conditions your to settle for almost nothing, and i think that's probably convenient for the CCP, which is why the game is still online despite it violating many of their more recent ordinances.

personally, i find one big problem genshin has (among others) is that it's basically a character collecting game with nothing to do with the characters. like, i just got chevreuse. cool! what can i do with her once she's built? only abyss, the game mode where you fight the same waves of enemies even after they make changes for floor 12 every two weeks or so, and once you've gotten all the stars you can get, there isn't much replayability value in it. many players have 100% their maps. they've gotten all the characters they want. the events are basically just reruns or reskins of old events and we have no way to access them once they've passed, even though some of them are literally important archon quest level lore drops or basically character quests in event form. what then? honestly, they were really smart to add simulated universe into star rail. it's basically more relic grind but the way it's designed it feels like a fresher take with replayability values (different buffs, paths to take, etc). i'm aware that these are two very different games with different play styles, but i don't think it's unreasonable for genshin players to compare the QoL and endgame stuff considering we've been here with the same old dusty abyss all these years.

I agree with you. I am not sure if you participated in this event called "Labyrinthe Warriors", which is similar to Sim Universe (it's a roguelike mode, not as fleshed out). They don't rerun this event, I don't know why - it is fun and it would make a great permanent mode too.

The thing is, precisely because they're different games with different playstyles, one has different modes of combat and the other doesn't. Because HSR's focus is combat and Genshin's is not. Genshin's more like a comfy/chill game that just happens to have combat. 😂 It's why in HSR we have SU and all the variations and in Genshin we have the card game, the teapot and the exploration itself. And it's also why I think they'll never add anything combat wise in Genshin (also, they pretty much said so themselves in that infamous interview), but I also think they still could add stuff that's not related to combat that we know many people enjoy like some past events as permanent content like the hide and seek one and others. I don't understand why they don't do that, they do it in HSR. 🙄 Heck, they could even add that domain builder event as permanent content and let people use it to customise challenges for their characters and be able to test them out better and share theses challenges with others or do them with others as well. They could add that and attach no rewards to it, just being able to use it would be fun.

​@@danielsirbu6706 exactly. Enemies are only refreshed after every 6 weeks, alongside or after the new version drops. It has always been that way. The 2-week resets only change the cycles, never the lineups. Meanwhile, you see HSR with their current MoCs: 1 focused on Breaks (Ruan Mei), 1 focused on debuffs and follow-up attacks (Dr. Ratio). It's so funny how pathetic and stale Spiral Abyss gets. Much like the whole system Genshin Impact is running on.

it's a bit of a built-up resentment, I think. Since the first anniversary, we've all known that Hoyo (well, Genshin, really) is a bit of a miser. We more or less accepted it, even make jokes and memes out of the situation. And then HSR ratio'd Genshin, and then there's the blunder with the livestream's wording... I guess the camel's back finally broke lmao.

It's really telling that all those who do have satisfied opinions on the game are largely comprised exclusively of people who only desire a small roster of characters that they love, play primarily for the lore and exploration, or who have no experience with gacha-game reward culture to compare. Like, the complete lack of defence of Genshin's rewards being considered "good" is REALLY telling, when the best you can get is people who gameplay-wise care the least about Primogems are the only ones satisfied.

Transparency from the devs would solve most of their problems in my opinion, cause if they refuse to implement Artifact Loadouts there’s a reason to it (maybe storage size idk) and the lack of endgame (which I still can’t agree with them not doing anything about it). Talking to us would be nice

In terms of QOL, it boggles my mind that Star Rail is made in the same building and potentially nobody is going “Oh we should steal that.” Because there’s no way you can see someone due an energy overflow system and not assume your players are going to want that now. Even if it’s not out of player consideration, I’d be the type of employee to push for it so I could stop being compared to my coworkers one floor above me. That has to be annoying. 😅

Tbf, Genshin will be adding the Fast Equip that was introduced in HSR into the patch (4.4) that's coming tomorrow. The Artifact recommendation was also in HI3, and now in Genshin this patch (4.3), and will soon be in HSR (2.0). Now all the other stuff, yeah... Especially the resin QoL

It really puts into perspective how much Hoyo has managed the game. Initially, Genshin's monopoly over the open world RPG prolly has gone unnoticed, but it reaches a point where the playerbase gets tired of how Genshin handles player experience. Also, ever since competitors and other games started to come to the surface, it became a more glaring sight. I think this ENTIRE issue serves as a cautionary tale. Listening to your customers/players is INTEGRAL to keeping products/games like this alive.

I think we all want to agree with this ideally, but the success of genshin the past few years while continually ignore their player’s wants kinda proves the opposite to be true, at least in this case. Hard to call a game as successful as genshin a cautionary tale.

​@@kinorobloodlustMost of the success comes from being a colorful, casual, but high quality rpg when most open world rpgs are scifi/urban or grim dark fantasy. It's not a Zelda clone, but it similarly taps into the wider mainstream audience than Honkai Impact 3rd ever did with its competitive hyper focus on battle suits and combat mechanics. Sure the artifact grind is a never ending slump, but the game's set up is designed so you're still able to a) have a life with school or work and family and b) still play other games as well. These overall lead to higher popularity.

No disrespect, but I dislike this take. I really don't think that this will affect Genshin. I've been dissatisfied with Hoyo since the first anniversary, yet nothing has changed. I feel like all this will do is make people start playing Star rail as well as Genshin so Hoyo will probably just profit off of this.

I am in the disappointed category but also not going to quit over this. More than rewards I want a change to the resin/artefact system. One thing I think is missing from the resin discussion when compared to star rail is that genshins resin actually refreshes at a lower rate as well as having a lower cap. Just increasing the resin to 240 like in star rail won't fix much because resin in genshin refreshes every 8 minutes but star rail is every 5. I don't know if they should change the refresh rate because (for reasons I will say later) I don't actually feel the need to spend my resin every day, but it is something that should be a part of the discussion. I think something good would be to just unlock the amount of condenced resin you can hold, just increase the cap and then it's like we have the overflow mechanic from star rail because condenced is used for everything except bosses. My main gripe with genshin is that I absolutely hate artefact grinding, it is the most boring and tedius aspect of the game to me. Doing the same domain day after day to get nothing just sucks the life out of me. In star rail we can auto battle and I understand that genshin is an action rpg so it's not exactly possible to do. but I wish they could do like an auto complete or something after doing a domain a certain number of times. I seriously don't spend my resin anymore unless I have to and my excitement for new characters goes away the second I realise that I'll have to farm an entirely new set (like with Navia) or I don't have any usable artefacts in my stock pile. Something I would like more than anything is a rework artefacts entirely, but artefact grinding is the only 'end game' currently, spending hours grinding the same easy content for 1% stat increases is what hoyo want us to be doing with out limited time on this earth. Self moddeling resin would solve the problem of getting starter artefacts for new characters but it doesn't solve the actual issues with them. Unless there is an overhaul on the time investment for getting decent/good artefacts, I think more players will fall off building new characters which is one of the only reasons to keep playing consistently when you're high AR.

If we get the resin changes, we need something to where we can prestack the consumed resin and cna get all the artifacts at the end. Like how HSR you can choose how many rounds you do automatically.

Its just really frustrating to know that Genshin, a game I love, could be SO MUCH MORE and the only reason it isnt is because the devs are lazy/don't care about us at all. I also stopped filling out the surveys a few months ago(except the recent one) because I realized they probably don't even look at the results...

the last stream really implied the devs are not lazy at all though? they literally prayed that there'll be no bugs so they can actually get off work on time.. every decision making is in the hands of the producer, not the regular devs. cai haoyu, current genshin producer, is infamous for making just overall less beneficial decisions.

Like I love the genshin stores and lore sooooo so much like my fav thing to watch on KZbin is genshin lore theories but it’s so sad to think about how they’re decisions in the game it prioritizing money and making story decisions around that rather than delivering the best game and story for us. And literally prob HSR devs are just like well since y’all aren’t gonna use that (the surveys) let us take a look at it😭

Yup.! What happened to the switch..? When is android getting controller support.? When is FPS getting unlocked on pc.? Why so little endgame content.? Why no dehya buff.? Why does kazuha feel more like an archon compared to venti.? Why no proper artifact loadout.? Does global players feedback matter or only CN community.? Will we get a refresh of the story to keep track of our progress.? When will all the qol stuff in star rail that was asked for in genshin feedback be introduced in genshin.? The whole resin situation...the self modelling resin artifact... I guess the answers would lead to more drama and ignoring these feedbacks are more blissful for mihoyo..

I started playing in patch 1.0, pretty early on. Genuinely love almost all aspects of the game. Even though I love the game, I still used to criticize it where it fell short. I would do the surveys for months on end, saying the same thing every time with no changes. I think somewhere along the line I stopped caring just like a lot of the people in the comments, I stopped filling out the surveys all together after Fontaine released. My frustration with Genshin has always been about ignored player feedback. I left tons of feedback that I know tons of others want as well. I used to mention endgame content like simulated universe and pure fiction, even a weekly raid boss with friends would be super fun. Guilds would be insane. Resin QoL increase and reserve. Story QoL like skip dialogue button and a story archive so we don't have to sit through 16 hours of aranara quest. Artifact QoL, which they are finally getting around to, barely. Would love to see domain optimization too where you can choose the set you want to farm or choose the talent or weapon material you want to farm on any day, making weekly bosses repeatable so you can farm the exact one you need. These are the types of things people are waiting for, but will likely never come. I'm giving Hoyo one chance to improve with all this criticism that's going around, but if they don't I'll just find something else to play. I've done everything the game has to offer. Most of my characters are 90'd with level 8 talents or higher, I've been 36 starring floor 12 for almost 2 years. The game is just the same old same old. And I would love to do more than just the same old same old. You can only eat the same thing for so long until you get sick of it, would love to see a change that would reel me back in. I'm currently waiting for Wuthering Waves, which looks like they will be a lot better at player feedback and communication than Hoyo.

So it’s becoming more clear to people that the producer of Genshin is definitely the issue. The fact that he has a track record of making Honkai impact in the same situation as Genshin, shows you enough evidence… It’s not only about rewards, and having more rewards for the new year won’t do anything. So pls take this opportunity if you do boycott to at least address the lack of CHANGE, CONTENT, and QOL that Genshin should deserve to have.

It's such a shame that most Genshin players seem to think that every single person on the dev team is responsible for these issues. Like, what has an animator or artist have to do with deciding what rewards be given and game improvements made.

Tbf he's the one who made the bet for genshin in a new market since the beginning into the mega monopoly that is today, so he clearly knows what he does xD And PowercreepImpact 3rd gives many rewards but also some of them are useless (aka Old valks that can't do anything without ranks/gear), hopefully part 2 is as good as it looks for f2p Personally I think HYV doesn't really care to replace him because the players are just moving to HSR.. another of their games so it doesn't change anything in the flow of money xD hopefully a new competitor like WW can do something to help the consumers of the open world market

Here's the exact quote: "And, to thank everyone for their support and company over the past year, we're going to use in-game mail to send you all three Intertwined Fates." The original Chinese also doesn't mention 3 years. It is just something people have repeated enough that everyone believes it.

I just made myself a word doc, where i put all my complains and suggestions and literally copy and paste it every time there is a survey. I had this thing for a couple of years, it's 2 pages long and i modify it every time something is being fixed or implemented (spoiler, i haven't changed much)

I'm in the apathetic side, especially since I also play HSR. Speaking of the survey, I have a full document I keep to copy in with a list of things I've been asking for since the first survey and HSR added a secondary list to point out all the things it has that genshin doesn't. I would say I feel incredibly ignored but since 4.0 I've had to take things off that list for the first time. Honestly, until I saw our video on the "loadouts" that are actually fast equips, I actually bought the Welkin for the first time in about a year. I've been F2P since Deyha and when they made it look like they were finally listening I wanted to show my support but now I feel completely betrayed, and if not betrayed then completely misunderstood and I'm not sure which is worse. As far as Lantern Rite specifically... It does not feel like a special event with rewards, it feels, now more than ever, just like every other patch but the story is about a festival.

Simply put, Genshin's ego has caused them to be resistant to community feedback leading to the game to never evolve most of it's game mechanics. This ego also leads to not respecting the support from their community shown through lack of rewards. HRS proactively evolves every patch, listens to their community and appreciations the feedback. They respect their community which is shown through the rewards given every patch and the free 5-star for being voted best mobile game. The reason Genshin rarely receives large scale backlash is because everyone who was fed up left when they said endgame wasn't coming, and they now play HSR. Genshin players that stayed accepted big changes weren't coming and were happy with story, map updates, and recycled mini-games. It's only when HSR showed them that it could and should be much better that it stirred the pot. "Genshin could never" and "L+Ratio" is really a way for ex-genshin players to show current players 'this is what it should be like if the company respected you'.

I honestly feel as if the 3 single pulls were just the last straw to a much bigger issue, that being hoyoverse's treatment of genshin's playerbase in general. I think a lot of people feel unappreciated and ignored by genshin rn and have felt that way for literal YEARS. This amount of backlash wouldn't be considered normal if it was just "oh, people are upset over 3 pulls", no, it's so much more than that. I personally am feeling a lot of sadness and disappointment rn, more so than anger, because I see the way star rail is getting all these rewards and QOL updates, meanwhile genshin is getting almost nothing. It feels like a slap in the face when you've devoted so much of yourself to this game and it doesn't feel like you're getting any appreciation or love for it in return...

The story does get better over time and the world building is always phenomenal! But I just hope they dont keep relying on that to keep players interested. Like if a player whos been playing from the beginning and then suddenly stopped in the middle and came back now to realize the rewards havent changed since their break theyll expect that Genshin as a game hasnt progressed as much into thanking their playerbase. Cause to me the whole point of the game is missing that community with developers. It feels like they dont listen to our feedbacks with what they want. If they just communicated from their own end with more transparency then I dont think there would be this much push back.

Totally agree on the "More than rewards" point. Most people just want free stuff, but if they got it, they would soon realize the problem is bigger. Let's say you get a free 5 star, whoever you want, and soon find yourself with the appalling artifact farming system. To this day, i haven't been able to get my c2 Raiden a good kit despite how many times I farm the domain.

I think the biggest disappointment for me was Dehya, the fact she was even released with so many technical issues alone was bad but the balancing was straight up awful, all of the feedback in beta was negative and so much feedback was given by the testers but it was all ignored. Dehya was released that bad intentionally and after the fact there has never even been an acknowledgement, let alone any improvements or fixes. Almost any post on Reddit or Discord e.c.t were even just straight up removed without any real reason, they were very aware of the issues and actively chose to hide, remove and censor everything. The fact that potentially your favourite character can come out obviously half baked and then never get fixed or improved is just sad, loads of gacha games buff old and outdated units evene if they remain bad because of powercreep, games like Punishing Gray Ravens add really cool new abilities to freshen up older units and even though most of them stay well out of meta it still makes them more fun to use in content where you do use them. There are still bugs that negatively impact characters in the game from launch that are just ingnored, not just little things but parts of characters just not functioning sometimes. When so many issues build up after so many years and very few even get acknowledged and even less get fixed i find it hard to believe that it's not due to lack of care, many games to far more with less. Same thing with how slow certain content comes out, obviously there is a limit to what can be released with 6 week patch cycles but hangout quests and skins are so few that there is a good chance your favourite character will never get a skin or hangout, there are so many characters that never even show up, not in event or story. So many interesting characters with room for growth or interesting lore and stories that are just wasted which really sucks. I'm biased but when a charcter like Kujou Sara doesn't even show up in the event about yokai, gets done dirty by the poor Inazuma writing, gets no hangout quest and very few minor event appearances it really sucks. There are a lot of other characters like that too. And thats not even going into the more personal takes like how Lumine doesn't ever get any official art, trailers or media. Or how character designs can get very repetitive. Or how poor the balancing for charcters is. Or the choice that the main character only speaks once in a blue moon. Paimon in general has only gotten worse over time. The rewards are really the straw that broke the camels back for lots of people, it's understandable that people still enjoy the game but it's not hard to see why or how players are disappointed or angry even ignoring the role that Honkai Star Rail plays in this. It's not like there isn't other games to play instead but when you start to get apathetic towards things you really want to like it really sucks. Personally i'm at the point where i'm waiting to see how Arlecchino, Chlorinde and Furina's 2nd story quest turn out, if they don't end up meeting expectations then i'm not sure if much could really pull me back into the game. I really hope this situation ends up making Genshin a better time for everyone but it's been over 3 years and this has happened multiple times before so who knows at this point.

This was my main issue for me. I don’t mind too much about the rewards even tho they could do better, but I’m still mad at how they messed up Dehya so that she’s barely playable (or even fun). We’re just left in the dark about it too and frankly it sours the whole perception of the game.

I agree with your overall points, but I do _not_ understand what people are talking about with Paimon. She's been infinitely better since Sumeru. They've been making her more aware of herself and as a whole, while still being her higher pitched self, records a lot less whiny than she was during peak "screw you Paimon" mentality with like Inazuma. I catch her dipping into her medium vocal range very often now. She's very enjoyable _as a character_ now, whether or not people remember the traveler's been getting more voice lines throughout the story.

I really think that the "don't care" players are actually so used to getting screwed over and over again, they just can't be bothered anymore. Having to take the stupid surveys every now and again and still getting no to bare minimum results just show that the developers don't really give a shit. So why bother? Ultimately, we can't fix an already broken mindset of the developers that thinks they can get away with basically anything by just barely throwing a bone to the players every once in awhile. Sad, but that's the reality of it.

With 60+ million active playerbase, the relationship between game devs and its players becomes like a government and its citizens. The sentiments I saw, most especially those who said their voice never gotten heard, is quite a lot like how people say they aren't gonna vote because nothing in their life ever changes even when a new cabinet takes place. Maybe players should unionize, doing active campaigning, spreading pamflets, organize yearly strikes, stuffs like that 🤔

TBH, the easiest and the laziest artifact load out they could have made is just have a "dummy" character that is not really a character, but a thing like a "cloth hanger" that you can slap your artifact into nothingness, and add the "switch artifact" for fast exchange artifact between 2 characters or the said cloth hanger. I mean, what I do to solve this problem is I have some unused characters at low level (sorry Chongyun Dori, and Candance) so that they are at the very end of my list. Then I slap my "load out" to them. If they do give us Real Load out, I would finally have the chance to build those characters up xD

I was in the "do not care" category of votes. I didn't really talk that much because I kind of realized that people play the game for their characters, as it is a gatcha game. The resentment is fair, if you play the game just to get the characters and the game rewards you with only less than a third required to even get a character. But I don't really care about the characters that much except for a few exceptions but even then I'm not mad that I didn't get them. My favorite part of the game is certainly the world-building and story. Genshin's story alone is worth more than the past 10 years of triple-A game stories we have gotten. It's in a way, trying to be the next classic with a legacy for itself. Every update feels like a reward for me, especially the ones with map expansions. I believe that's what the game is about more than it just some other character-based gacha game. If I did want a character, I'd actually just play the game. The rewards from the explorations are more than enough for me to obtain characters I actually enjoy like Neuvilette or Furina. That being said, if the players start to leave the game because of this, it will mean the future content will suffer as a result. It should at least treat their community better so they don't start leaving in droves. I really want to see how the story ends so I would prefer if they didn't give lackluster rewards or call it as such.

My main gripe with Genshin is that we pull characters and have nothing to do with them - I have been consistently 36-starring abyss (except during concencrated beast + Wenut fiasco, where you could play like 2 compositions in total, as other teams either died or did 0 damage) and then we go hybernate for 2 weeks. There is no for-fun mode with (bi-)weekly rewards. They rerun boring events like with the Sumeru pokemon-mushrooms with a twist or the Itto onikabuto duels, but do not rerun things like Labyrinthe Warriors, which, if improved upon, would make a really good permanent mode. Another gripe I have is that we do not have a way to access lore-related events nor their rewards (the Scaramouche event or the Albedo event). I started Genshin at the end of 2.2, so I don't own things like 'Festering Desire' from previous versions and there is no way to obtain it anymore for my Furina (I have the fishing pipe instead). I am glad they actually improved the exploration for Fontaine this time around and it is fun (Sumeru made me quit the game for a patch) and SOME QoL is making its way into the game, but I don't see how they can't call up HSR dev team and be like "Hey guys, can we have some of the code regarding x, y, z QoL?" or just, you know, implement the basic things like HAVE ALL ARTIFACT SETS IN THE STRONGBOX, change the weapon banner to be the same way Star Rail has it. In my opinion, anniversary events *should* be a big deal as the playerbase kept the game alive for 3 years and I believe it is paramount to show thanks for the support and celebrate it with the players. I don't think a standard banner selector will kill anyone - I did not own Jean until 2 months ago, which is insane not to get her in over 2 years. I think a free region-locked 5 star selector could also work - I think Lantern Rite event is a perfect pick for this, as we have a lot of Liyue 5 star characters that could be given/selected to celebrate. In my opinion, they could give out a copy of each new 4 star with their release patch, 1 copy is not going to be game breaking and if people want constellations, they will pull regardless. I had quit Genshin for a time to play Honkai 3rd, and this was a great decision - I started playing at the end of patch 5.6 (Pardo patch) / start of 5.7 (Aponia + Eden patch) (current patch is 7.2), and up until now, the only valkyries that were released during my time of play AND got powercrept were Pardo and Starry Impression (and she isn't even fully depreciated as she is needed in Cosmic Expression bleed teams) - both are SP valkyries, a type of valkyrie that you can literally farm. I have fallen in love with the game and how *fun* the combat is (multiple modes to play like Superstring Dimension (a.k.a. Abyss), Elysian Realm (roguelike mode), Memorial Arena), how good the story is and how many freebies they give out with just general events each patch. My favourite character, Aponia, will get a free skin next patch and it looks like a banger - and I own her spending event skin which I will swap out for the upcoming skin. I love the gacha system as well, as the character is guaranteed - no more 50/50 losses on a Keqing/Diluc that I never wanted and will never use. They will also be improving the gacha for the new characters and their gear, which is great.

Interesting, I've read a lot of positive opinions about Star Rail and Honkai 3. They seem to be legit. Genshin is the only game that has an open world, so is it the reward? Exploration is all rewards people need. When done, there is no need to do anything, just wait until the next patch or play other games

I'm willing to support anybody who is asking for improvements to the game. I burn out often and wish for many improvements. I often tell them in the surveys as well. But I will not support whiners who speak as if getting more rewards in a gacha game is unironically a natural human right of theirs just for existing and playing the game. We are getting 23 free pulls for the lunar new year rewards. It's not great, it's not nothing. Get over yourselves. That group of people does not want to have a better game, they want more free stuff. Not the same.

Theres also some rumors that the one of the developers for Genshin now used to work for HI3 and was very stingy with rewards when he moved to Genshin and left HI3 the rewards got more generous. I think that person should have his power cut

When he ran HI3 the rewards sucked, then he moved onto Genshin and the HI3 rewards turned into similar to what they get now. And Genshin is the stingy reward game since.

Mom look I'm on TV! While I'm here I'll add something which I got reminded of when watching the 4.4 livestream, where they had the segment about how difficult it was to code Cloud Retainer. It's that the dev team really does put A LOT of effort into their characters. Compared to star rail where they can't even jump or climb, have only 1 attack animation and 1 technique, and in battle there is only 1 POV and 1 animation (usually) per each action. Compared to Cloud Retainer here, where they really tried to bring out her grace and elegance, make sure she had the bird theme right and did all the quality testing to iron out the bugs which seemed like there were a lot of. I can say a lot of the same things for Gaming too who has incredible animations too. And then adding Eula's normal attacks, Zhongli's normal attacks, Navia, Neuvilette, Nilou, Shenhe, etc. There is a lot more effort put into them, where in Star Rail I feel like the focus is more on giving people enough pulls and free characters to make sure everyone has elemental coverage and role coverage. I mean did they really give us Dr. Ratio because it's in character for him or did they give him because people who skipped imbibitor badly needed an imaginary DPS? Also they just recently dropped the new Stellar Moments album which has banger music, all copyright free. And Star Rail did that too some time ago. The lore in this game goes so fucking deep that you can go back in time 1700 years, find an old dusty book and there's a chance Genshin has already used it for some obscure lore reference. All this to say is that I genuinely believe that the devs DO actually care about the players, because they absolutely do not need to put so much effort into free mobile game. And I just assume that the people in charge of calculating the per-patch primos they're going to give, what rewards to give, what price to put, how much FOMO to force is some cold hearted executive who only looks at the money numbers and nothing else. And I think it's better for our own mental health to focus on the devs who are putting their love and effort into the game and not the stingy corpa people >:(

The ONLY reason Zhongli got a buff was because Mihoyo was afraid of the CCP. Players were saying that Liyue is a representation of China, Zhongli being the god of Liyue is the equivalent of saying the leader of China is weak. They didn't care about player feedback, they were afraid of getting struck down by the CCP. Dehya is proof of that, because she would have gotten fixed if it was.

I play all 3 of Hoyo’s major games (HI3, GI and HSR). HI3 usually have a spending event here and there that encourages spending to give out outfits and other benefits. Sometimes they give out free S ranks too.

Genshin is like the only gacha game I play (tried hsr but eh...) and while I love the characters I have never had the urge to spend money to get the characters. I usually don't even pull that often so don't keep track of the rewards. This is the only time in two and a half years that I have actually paid attention to what the gacha community has been saying and it actually surprised me that they have so many QoL changes and rewards in their other game. I don't have many expectaions because I don't spend money but it does feel unfair to people who do spend money and love the game, especially the way they phrased the rewards.

My take on this situation as someone whos been playing day 1 and rarely missed a day is that the lack of communication has been a constant problem with Genshin. This is evident by the artifact loadout not even being what players wanted. A timeline or some transparency in terms of qol and what the devs were working on would be very helpful in looking forward to things. Right now its just an up in the air thing that may never happen. I've filled out so many surveys and nothing has really been done about any of the collective feedback for the game. I dont necessarily care about the rewards after the first anniversary you kinda just accept what you get as long as its not less then what we gotten in the past. The game has improved sine day 1 and the game provides enough to keep me playing but it lacks in a lot of aspects that would make it better. Spiral abyss isnt a good enough medium for me to test out newly built characters for example and not having a space for testing how much a build is better then another unless abyss lineups throw you a bone. Events feel like busywork and get kinda samey especially combat events. The fact that constellations feel like putting the game on easy mode and have no foothold in any content in the game etc etc. I love the character interactions in this game especially lantern rite but after playing 3 years exploration has been getting dull. Ive 100% everything pre fontaine btw but life gets busy and exploration and side quests pile up and its just not motivating anymore. Patch by patch ive occassionally gotten a shiny new 5 star explore and master their teams and builds and move on waiting for the next new story and while im content enough to keep playing i just need something different. Events feel like filler at this point it really isnt about rewards because thats short term gains. Getting a free keqing wouldnt make the game more fun long term

That’s the only meaningful way of making change, all of those who are just “moving to hsr” are just making it even worse, I personally vowed since the 1st anniversary to never give a dime to mihoyo, so although I’ll keep playing genshin because at its core it’s a very good game, I won’t feed mihoyo’s greedy mouths

Notice how Genshin was pretty quick when it came to changing voice actors. That’s great ofc, but it shows that they definitely keep track of events on both EN and CN sides (Tighnari & Oz). It feels like they’re intentionally avoiding QOL changes now bc there’s no way they dont know about it. It can’t be much harder than changing a whole VA, and I can’t think of a reason why they wont implement artifact loadouts the way we want them and why it took years for a claim all button. If they wanted to, they would.

I've played Genshin for almost two years, and I love the game. That said, there are many things I would love to see implemented to maintain interest, particularly where late game co-op incentive is concerned, since multiplayer capability is a big reason I started playing in the first place. However, where the freebies are concerned, I believe MTashed was the first and possibly only person I've heard make a very important point: Genshin is an open-world game with tons of opportunities to reap currency through exploration. HSR gets more freebies in large part due to the fact that there isn't nearly as much exploratory opportunity to gain the same rewards possible in Genshin. I'm not saying that Hoyoverse couldn't do better, especially with Genshin being their bread and butter and long time cash cow, but I'm sure the amount of rewards on offer were much more aptly calculated than the company gets credit for.

First day CN player here. I totally agree with your points, especially regarding to the open-world rpg part. I am very sure that today only a tiny little fraction of the player base actually plays genshin as a open-world exploration rpg, myself included. Usually within one week I can finish harvesting any new map of current patch, but I had never, NEVER encountered another player who I co-op with with this amount of ehthusiasm for map-sweeping. When I opened their world, there were plenty of unexplored regions, showing mostly 0%-20%. Then I realized something, today the majotiry of the player base are casual players who do not explore, do not clear their world quests, do not optimize their team comp. A company has to answer the need of its most prominant player base and make EVERYTHING esay as hell. So that people don't run away fear of losing rewards. However, there is bottomline to defend for genshin to be featured mainly for its open world rpg, genshin WILL never ever remove primo rewards from chests in the map and give to the player base through mailbox, this very action will demotivate and backstab the "core" players who initially started playing genshin for its maps and exploration. Genshin dev is now at a weild spot where players don't play it for what the game is and asking for the game to evove into what it is not, two player bases (or multiple player bases with very distinct needs towards how the game should be) fighting with needs of contradiction. The best result for Genshin now is to, and this is crazy to say, go back to a player base compare to that of BOTW, a hard core open world rpg with tons of optimization. Only then can genshin obtain a decent reputation. But the business model it implements probably won't let this happen. My vote goes to the 9% where people are satisfied, I am definitely the minority here. I do not play genshin for rewards, I play genshin for regular updates, new maps and exploration, and I will stand my point until the end of day genshin end its service, as long as genshin continue pumping out new maps and exploration content (and world building) .

This is an interesting point about reward calcs. Honestly, all of this reward stuff is ultimately just perception. They can easily give more rewards during a celebration time and simply siphon them from other aspects that fewer people will pay attention to lol. Give an extra 10 roll on lantern rite, and put in slightly fewer primos per event/map/etc. That's probably the realistic outcome from all this if we get amped rewards after this outcry.

If it's any condolences, my boyfriend 100% all the maps as they come, with exception to Liyue and Mondstadt (them being the early nations and no level up tree). Meanwhile, I'm not as completionist as him, but my map is anywhere from 20-100% competition with most in the 40-80% range. We're both hardcore Zelda veterans. I specifically picked up Genshin because it was called a BotW clone, and aside from the lack of meaty puzzle dungeons, Genshin fixes literally everything I hate about the Switch duo. Real music, high enemy variety (with unique mechanics when you're not mix max artifact blasting them), no weapon durability, collectibles are useful (I specifically like collecting nearly all the weapons), fishing, [now] underwater gameplay, no slippery rain climbing. [More] balanced world/monster leveling and food system. Better story. Better side and world quests, even with commissions being the basic cheap quests. Barriers to block you from spoiling side quests. Actual Zelda mechanics within an open world setting (anarana music mechanics are just N64 Zelda stuff done anew. The desert tombs and Enkanomiya are amazing). I could go on forever because I've put too much thought into it, especially after the massively lazy disappointment TotK is. So to me, I very much see the game as an open world rpg first. I very much understand why the rewards are terrible in comparison, but too many rewards within the other games comes off as "low quality" to me. Like the game isn't good enough to hold players attention without the gambling addiction. Not sure how "right" that is, since it comes from mobile gatcha stigma, but it's in the back of my mind. I very much enjoy HSR, but I can tell my mentality is different from my friends that basically dropped Genshin and maximize the endgame modes, meanwhile there's the world and story loving me going "how do you guys not know who at least Akivilii is?" I honestly thought the mega overlord event claymore was an extremely clever first step at marrying the playerbase sects. Combat reward for exploration and side questing? We need more stuff like it. Even if people make snarky comments about needing to play more of the actual game to get their precious damage stats.

I understand that statistically I must be an outlier, but I have NEVER understood peoples' disappointment. I've been playing video games for 30 years and I've been playing Genshin since 1.0, and it's one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played all while being completely free and consistently updated and improved. Maybe it's because I'm old, but even when I save up and drop $60 for a AAA title, I don't expect it to be as quality as what we get for free in genshin. That said, i DO hate predatory monetization and think it's especially bad with games like Genshin who have a wide reach and expose it to people who aren't familiar with it and may be more vulnerable to it, but that's a separate topic. Having the base game and every update for free is already a MASSIVE reward in a world where everything costs you an arm and a leg. Anything additional given is unnecessary generosity.

Sevy, I super appreciate your balanced take. You're the last Genshin CC I still watch for the occasional guides, and it's great to see your take on an issue that had honestly been grinding my gears. I've been dissatisfied with the game myself, and at times burned out and needed a break, but the overwhelming arguing and negativity was getting even to me this time around. I both understand many of the complaints yet at the same time wish people would have a lil perspective, which your video covered well.

Personally I play for the story, characters, and exploration and typically don’t engage too much with the wider community but I have found it a little harder to enjoy things when these days many people bring up “Genshin could never” and HSR actively doing things others have asked for. It just sorta spoils the atmosphere for me to an extent.

I have a feeling that's the point. They're trying to create a critical mass of displeased players so Hoyo must respond. But given that it is still business as usual, that has not happened yet. It's why mixed in with legit complaints are various insults and to the players who enjoy the game as is, and are ambivalent on the milestone freebies. If you are still enjoying the game, don't let people who are infantilizing you get to you. You like what you like, and as long as you're honest about that, you can't go wrong.

I’m the same as well I love the world and lore, I’ve been playing since day 1 and I’ve not spent a single dime on the game cause I only save for characters I want and like cause of their personality or story quest. Like I skipped most of the Fontain banners until Navia came out and I had about 171 wishes by just doing quests, dailies, puzzles I left for later and hidden chests but I can understand some peoples gripes who wish for more.

Thank you, Sevy for sharing! I love the way you build up the video and talked about every perspective on the topic. To be honest, I myself am not so surprised about the rewards themselves. I am excited for the new region (which was more my surprise in comparrison to last Lantern Rite) and the story connected to it. I had actually a blast last Lantern Rite with the Story and I think Mihoyo is really getting better in telling stories, which I appreciate. On the other hand I agree with a lot of the players that feel a dissatisfaction with Mihoyo in regard of communication and making the game better. It feels for me like players are trying their best to give them the feedback they need to make the game better, but the team struggles to implement it for whatever reason. It is fair to focus on the story and do their best there. It could be that the reason why Genshin Impact found light was because of Story and Character development. That seems to be their secret ingredient. But still, Genshin Impact is a game and has other aspects that need some love and care too. And the community is basically looking in those issues for them. They need to find time just to evaluate the problem, the scale of it and the solutions to it. I have been in contact with different game communities - from City Builders to MMORPGs, and what I have noticed so far is that these days players appreciate, when the company making their favorite game actually communicates with them, connects with them and cares with them. It is a two side relationship. And the moment the developers or publishers fail to acknowledge that, things turn out bad for the game in the long run. It will be nice from Mihoyo to show us, that they hear us and also that they are caring about what we say. I mean, it is funny, I am pretty sure there is also good feedback running in those surveys and they don't point even that out. So how to expect them to react on our constructive feedback? They won't. But we want to hear all stories - the good and the bad. That is what communities are for. And other games realize that and capitalize on the support of the community. They run their games with their player base, not beside them.

I've played a few other gachas before playing Genshin sometime around patch 1.4-1.5 and honestly, I don't really expect lots of freebies from any of those gacha games. My main complaint in Genshin is the lack of QoL updates that us players actually need, like reworking the artifact system. HSR's self modeling resin kinda helps getting the right main stats for your relic pieces even if the substats are still rng but it'll be nice to have in Genshin. Like... I've been maining Yoimiya almost immediately after getting her when she was first released and I've only seen like 2 usable pyro goblets after farming them over and over again. And the substats are still pretty mediocre. I like Genshin's content more than HSR and I do hope the team behind Genshin will eventually listen to us players.

IMO the artifact load out and self modelling resin are just band aids pasted on top of a deeply flawed system, i.e. Substats RNG My first taste of how bad it was happened back in Inazuma when it took me a month to farm emblem of severed fate for raiden. When HSR launched and the system was somehow even worse with no more flex slots and 6 instead of 5 pieces, it really killed my motivation to build more characters or to even pull for them. There was a whole period between Fu Xuan and Ruan Mei where I didn't pull at all and Ruan Mei was a massive farming headache trying to achieve 180% break effect. Similarly in Genshin, Furina is so far the only 4.x banner character I have pulled since Fontaine began.

THIS. One of my biggest complaints for Genshin (and Star Rail now too) is just how much freaking RNG there is. This especially happens to me in HSR since it's harder and also less forgiving than Genshin, but sometimes it really feels like it doesn't matter how well you know the game's mechanics or how to use the characters and teams or how skilled you are, if you don't get lucky with rolls or get the right blessings, you're done, it's really frustrating.

You just need 160% break effect for Ruan Mei. But yea, thr equipment always been shit. Gacha game is about pulling and using the character, yet HSR and Genshin just make it hard to use them with this shitty Epic7 equipment system

Honestly, didn’t vote on the poll because I’ve realized that Hoyo won’t change - so I guess I’m in a camp that you covered. I just do my dailies, grind out the primos I can, and get the characters that I enjoy. The end game isn’t coming so I don’t need to do anything more to keep up with Abyss levels. I play 2 accounts (technically 3, because I maintain my son’s account who lost interest, but who I keep hoping will come back), and I struggle to keep up - but the issue is actually not struggling to keep up but rather the dread I have to go through another pointless-dialogue-heavy quest that gives me a few primos. The reward vs time is no longer worth it. An hour of time for 60 primos feels bad when the story is pure fluff and feels like it was literally just there to make you waste time.

Thank you for putting very reasonable comments and discussing this. I think it IS at a point where people should be speaking up about Genshin, but I also agree with some other points.. I play both Genshin and HSR and I enjoy them both (also the only 2 gacha games I've played). But other than the BP and Welkin pass, I haven't spent in Genshin in a long time since I feel a lot of what was stated here, apathy from the company and a lack of generosity. I can say that story wise I like Genshin more (so far, HSR still young), I cried my eyes out at the end of Sumeru and Fontaine and STILL get choked up every time I hear the music from Sumeru and Nahida is .. just my favorite character. I've only played Genshin for a little over a year so I don't have a context really of Lantern Rite, but it leads into a big issue I have with Genshin.. is no type of "New Game +" or replay for story, I was only a month or so into the game last Lantern Rite and I had to speed rush through Liyue's story and the Lantern Rite story since I only had like 2 days left on it at the time. I'm also really sad there are many stories that I can't experience for myself (yes I know there are YT videos to recap, but I'd love to experience them myself). I'm excited to see how the HSR story recap thing works, because I'd LOVE to see something like that in Genshin, because I do think they have richer lore and story as of right now. And yeah, the comparisons ARE going to exist because the 2 games have a lot of overlap in player base I'm sure. But I feel more inclined right now to put my money into HSR, even though it has some of it's own issues, but the generosity of the dev team isn't one of them.

The game Genshin is fun for me - whether it is exploring the open world, interacting with characters or completing quests. While I personally do enjoy each update, the biggest concern I have is Genshin's lifespan. To sustain it, the game needs to keep in mind a wide audience - veterans and newcomers alike. I can see why the three intertwined fates as a sole reward are an issue; it doesn't look like much to most. While I do welcome any incentives given, to see them given frugally, then triggering a large section of the audience to leave the game and causing mass fracas online is worrying. Just as any craftsman looks after the inventions he makes for his customers, the same must apply to game developers. No one can expect a lack of maintenance for a game to go unnoticed for long. TLDR: **Look after your customers, and they'll trust you in return. Neglect your customers, and they won't trust you in return.**

The strange thing to me is that if Genshin _really_ wanted to attract those newcomers or keep the veterans then the easiest way to do it is by giving lots of rewards. I don't even play Star Rail but the "Free 5-Star Dr. Ratio" was popping up on my KZbin feed from numerous creators. As someone who understands what this means in terms of value, damn right it caught my attention.

This game needs competition. It's obvious that Hoyo doesn't care at this point. I hope Endfield and WW are good. Would love to have something new to play or at least get Hoyo off their asses.

As a very casual player with also not a lot of gaming experience I was hapoy with the game for a long time. Other gacha games on mobile were not comprable. Then Hsr came around. One thing I don't like about Hsr is that it is a pretty hard game. Like it levels too quickly and I now have a hard time beating event and story because my relics aren't great. But on the rest, I can see all the game improvents. Something I ve seen for the first time, something I heard a lot of creators talk about. Were getting the bare minimum now in Genshin. So I get it, I am annoyed now. Genshin is a lot easier to play and I for one love the none combat events, the game is too big for me to even get to "end game" and spiral abyss is to hard anyways. But unlike Hsr in which you can't change the main world lever, I don't feel like im missing out on game content in genshin.

I'm new to the channel, but I am in the satisfied category. I have found that they have done an amazing job for those mostly playing for story and exploration. They've added so many good things for the casual audience. If you're at the point of needing artifact loadouts, the truth is that you're more invested than most casuals who don't even touch the abyss. That being said, I do hope players can get a bit of what they want and reconnect some hope for the future. I personally hope for some more "endgame" content in Natlan, considering it's rumored to have a coliseum.

This was a great video. Personally, I haven't ever written a suggestion into the survey boxes, but this has motivated me to do so in the future. In a roundabout way, other players apathy became the encouragement I needed. I'll definitely copy/paste my responses. I think a problem with a game that appeals to so many people is that it's difficult to distill constructive feedback versus destructive feedback. I've seen, what I believe to be, destructive feedback, occur in a number of content creators videos. I shrug off their criticisms because they're asking for things that don't seem on-brand for Genshin. It makes me think they should be playing a different game rather than trying to mold Genshin into something it has never been. For example, I'm not interested in "end-game content," because the game has never been about end game raids, bosses, or challenges. Genshin has always been an event, story, character, and exploration based game first. This is my cozy, light-hearted, no friends required, kick back and enjoy game. If it focused on end game, it would cease to be the product I enjoy. That said, I'm not opposed to new side activities, quality of life improvements, and better rewards. Horizontal content is something I'm always a fan of, even if it's not a type of content I will utilize to it's fullest. Optional content like the Serenitea Pot is a perfect example. If you like decorating there's an entire mode dedicated to it. But it's not a requirement outside of initial setup. Also, I would love an option to replay quests. Period. Or, something along the lines of New Game + with unique cosmetic rewards like gliders or pets. I want to play events I missed and to have the full story laid out before me.

I don't like this name "rewards", as it utterly downplays the importance of the f2p currency income for the game. Gems/Fates are a "resource", which is mandatory for this game. If ALL pulls in Genshin were "paid" - game would have zero players, literally. Thing is, that Genshin (and other gachas) is timegating acquirance of the new gameplay (characters) to incentify spending. It has a fixed f2p pull budget per patch, which is around 50 and is always "not enough" for one 5 star character. Basically, it means that player gets 1 rate-up character per 3+ months, which is quite a bad rate if you ask me. And this rate is a deciding factor for the player to stay, pay, or leave the game. What i am trying to say, is it isn't a "reward", it is something they "owe" us to continue playing. Holiday boost with 13 pulls when the rate of getting characters is already bad - is simply pathetic. As it is just 13/160, in which only last 160th pull has some value, and previous 159 pulls have zero value.

I also think that the 3 fates thing is really just the straw, that broke the camels back. I originally planned on using the big top up bonus to pull for Nahida, but then I realized... what the hell would I even use her on? I started during the Kokomi rerun/Wanderer banner and I have nearly completed all the exploration that is worth doing (meaning things that give currency) and 100%ed sumeru and Fontaine (yes even the desert). I finished all story content and the only thing that remains is spyral abyss, which I can clear fairly comfortably. So I have been hear for like half a year, meaning I'm fairly new. And as soon as I hit the end of all things to do, the honeymoon phase wore down immediately . I asked myself why should I invest into a game, when there is no game to play? I have no incentive to pull for any characters anymore, which was my original rush and motivation for the game (that and the music + polishing up my rusty chinese), but when I can't even use them on anything, except for maybe drips of story that come every 6 weeks, was this entire journey even worth it? I'm already satisfied with my roster, not to mention quite happy because I was able to obtain my favourite characters especially those I started the game for in the first place. There is simply nothing to do in the game, which is personnaly my biggest gripe. Genshin has more glaring issues at its core as a game. As far as I can tell the community has been very vocal about things within genshin's game design and the fact that it took them 3 years to adress some of the most basic of things (spawning location when restarting domains, expedition reset button) is really disheartening. Not mention the none existent artifact loadouts. This is especially painful to me, because I know what peak loadout mechanics look like (I would like to point toward the Monster Hunter series, especially the most recent title Rise/Sunbreak which literally has loadouts... for loadouts). And I haven't even been here for that long. Waiting for 3 + years and not receiving anything. All of this is to say, that there has been a build up from what I can tell. And then the live stream got the ball rolling. Since I am fairly new I am somewhat neutral to the rewards, but I can't help but feel for the loyal veterans, that have been there since day one. I can't even begin to immagine what the tone deafness must feel like. And then there is also this new kid in town, HSR. I think it's save to assume that it's just insult to injury at this point. Though I didn't foresee myself ever trying HSR, I saw the cool stuff they are doing with the animated shorts and then I watched the character trailers and one thing led to another and now I am fully immersed. Timing could not have been more impeccable. I literally joined during the best time possible: multiple repeatable endgame modes, playable events after they expire (without the limited time rewards, which is fair), the general quality of life that was there from the getgo and then is still getting added as we go AND FREE EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE. Now that I have gotten two options where to dump my christmas gift money into, I believe it's save to say what choice I will make. Genshin was nice while it lasted, but unfortunately for it, it didn't last long enough. And if for whatever reason you made it to the end of this comment, whoever you are, I want you to know, that you are a legend and I hope, that you'll win all your 5050s !

A big chunk of *"I don't care"* voters are probably OGs who were trying to get better rewards, QoL changes and real Endgame for the last 3 years with little to no response from Hoyo, so they just don't want to waste their energy anymore.

I've been reminiscing on the first lantern rite each time now. The events were actually really fun, especially theatre mechanicus. There really should me more minigames similar to that, and they need to bring back the original theatre mechanicus! Bringing my characters into those minigames and actually getting to use their skills was really fun. Bringing jean, ganyu, barabara to make reactions with the mechanichussies was really fun! I liked making xiao lanterns and then throwing them into NPCs faces.

As a player of all of those 3, I can feel the difference in their rewards system. HI3 and HSR have been giving a tons of rewards. Can't forget the first summer costumes, there were like 4 free skins in HI3 + Free S rank valkyrie every now and then. Same goes with HSR, a fairly new game that gave us a free limited unit which is too good can't believe it is free + the 10 free pulls every patch. GI on the otherhand, I can pretty much guess what will they offer on the next coming patch, there's just nothing new. New map/unit is good and all but that is something to be expected. Prolly looking for something surprising or different from them, idk. I just keep playing cuz of the story but other than that, its becoming stale for me.

The best one was the first one. It had the "wow" factor. The subsequent ones were meh. ***Clarification: The 1st one was the best based on how new the map was and the beautiful lantern send off. The games and everything else were still unpolished.

I greatly appreciate this video, and for all the viewpoints that you showed. at the end of the day it is a free game that we’re allowed to play, but from a business standpoint, and a major company they need to do better. Not just for giving out free gifts but content wise as well. as you stated earlier, it was only the tip of the iceberg. There are more problems that need to be fixed in this great game.

Something I've always wanted for Genshin since the beginning is an event replay system. Something for new players to go back and experience old event stories or old event content that is gone to time. Perhaps it would be a good way to distribute the old event weapons, or maybe there is no reward at all. Either way it is disappointing that someone starting today will never experience the golden apple archipelago, or some of the story for Fischl or Albedo or other characters who were mainly developed through events.

The only problem with me is, even after all this some people are on the genshin's side. I mean if you like what you get then fine but don't ruin our chances to get what we deserve. They act like it wouldn't benefit from the change (if there will be any).

It depends on what's being asked for, imo. Like, some of the improvements some people ask for are basically making the game harder or focusing more on combat, and that doesn't align with the type of game Genshin is (plus, the devs already said they won't do that in that infamous interview). But better rewards, giving us the QoL we've been asking for since the beginning and just listening more to us and respecting the players who literally put them (not only the game, but the COMPANY) where they are right now? 100%.

Genshin really needs a dedicated community management team. Not just a person that organizes events but a team of people that actively go to all of the social media sources and respond to players questions and concerns. I'm thinking of a company like Bungie that's historically been praised for it's communication with it's playerbase (until very recently when they decided to change things). They had multiple community managers checking social media sites like reddit and twitter and responding to community concerns. They have a weekly blog that keeps constant communication with their players. They sometimes have technological deep dives into WHY they can't make changes that seem very easy to implement but realistically would break many other parts of the game. It's these moments of communication which has allowed the game to survive for over a decade. I'm not saying genshin needs to do all of this but just a small amount of transparant communication can go a long way and is becoming more and more required for live service games.

I play Genshin for the story and lore. I knew it wasn't just a Gacha, but a particularly stingy Gacha, since before I started playing. It was one of the reasons I put it off until late 2.x to start. I'm a high AR player who specifically makes time to log in to help lower AR players clear content and grinding hurdles so they can get into what I like so much about the game. I also help several new players sift through the complexities of character and team building, and the biggest source of disappointment for them is that they feel like Genshin is punishing new players for not having played longer (mostly due to event exclusive weapons not being available any more). I understand their frustrations very well because I have similar issues with what has become crucial lore being locked behind old events; almost everyting about the Hexenzirkel, for instance, is only accessible by watching KZbin lore videos. While I love the videos, it's annoying that I don't get to experience the lore as a player, so it's less immersive. That brings us to Lantern Rite. It very much feels like Genshin is trying to court dormant players instead of building excitement for new players, but in a way that people who have stopped playing don't care about. I am the last of a group of 5 people who started playing around the same time who plays consistently, and the reason the other 4 have dropped off is that it very much feels like the Genshin team is only making the tiniest effort to bring them back in so they open their wallets. So they jump in when there's a new patch, finish the content, maybe pull for a character they've either wanted for a while or that sparks their interest. Then we play a bunch of co-op to grind (usually artifacts because let's be real - artifact grinding is the number one thing that makes people stop feeling like they're playing a game). We do bosses and Trounce stuff, which is genuinely fun for everyone, but ultimately it gets repetitive and players get so good at grinding bosses that it takes way longer to wait for them to respawn than it does to kill them, so everyone else stops playing agian for a month. If Genshin really wanted to court returning players, they would update the quality of life mechanics those players have been asking for, which would also benefit new players and make a stronger game overall instead of, say, trying to sell us two skins for old characters... The two new skins are the only thing that I would say actually bothers me. You have to spend money to get them, and they're for characters that no new players have. I've been playing for a while and not only do I not have them, I'm not really planning on pulling for them because power creep has already given us 4 star characters that can fill their role, and I have no doubt new 5 stars will be added that make them as close to obsolete as they could ever be in a game with such a dynamic combat style. If the Genshin team wants to keep working on making and pushing new skins, cool. They just can't expect players to consider them either content or rewards, whether those players are new or returning. I'm going to keep playing, because it is a fun, engaging game with a lot to offer to a lot of people. The community is also really good, which helps a great deal. I am, however, way less willing to give them money at this point because they basically just use the sales stats to reinforce the idea that they don't need to adjust some things. I would personally like to see them loosen their grasp on things like Fragile Resin and artifact stat and substat percentages so people can spend less time being frustrated and more time exploring the massive, deep world they built so beautifully. Oh, it also wouldn't kill them to make a minor adjustment to the cursor outline and color so people who have sight impairments could navigate the various screens.

As someone who has played a lot of gacha games (FGO, PGR, Epic seven, ToT, HSR, etc.), Genshin is definitely stingy in the rewards they give out. But Genshin is just something I continue for the storyline these days. Still, for the amount of money they make a year, 3 fates is a real low blow to us who love the game.
