I Asked Kingdom Hearts Fans Their Opinions...

Over the past few months, I've been doing some Kingdom Hearts polls on the community section of my KZbin page to ask the Kingdom Hearts community what their opinions are on certain topics, like what Kingdom Hearts has the best opening, what's the best trio, has Kingdom Hearts 1 aged well, etc. So, after 35 polls and over 450,000 VOTES, I decided to compile them into a video to show off the results, discuss them, and share my thoughts on the topic! Timestamps will be below for all of the results
This is the longest fully edited video I've ever made and the most effort I've ever put into one video before. So, a like, share, sub, whatever would mean a lot! Also let me know where I can improve and grow in the future!

I think it is and always will be the biggest disrespect that Sora, Donald and Goofy are not counted as a trio in these things. They are without a doubt the best trio and it shows at the end of KH 3. They have such a great dynamic and really play of each other in every scene. Put some respect on those three.

Kh3 ultimate weapon was probably the most fun to unlock. Because instead of grinding out synthesis materials you had to go do stuff like kill super secret gummi ship bosses, explore all the worlds for the mickey emblems, and do well in mini games. Completely worth it.

I feel bad for Ventus because I like him and Xion more than Roxas for basically the same reason. They are all tragic but those two take the misfortune they have and try to create better situations for their friends at their own expense. To me that’s just more heartbreaking and has a selflessness about it. 😭

Aqua isn't just hot, she also has the best abilities in BBS. Her barrier blocks attacks in all directions and can only be bypassed by some boss attacks. Her unique shotlocks are better. Her dependence on magic makes it easy to just wipe unversed out with little effort and cheese bosses. She has the best Command Styles. And she has the better unique attack and magic commands. She's all around one of the better characters to play as.

Literally this plus the extension of what she goes through with her story. She basically has to yank the two of them away from darkness constantly, sacrifices herself, goes through a massive depressive period, gets corrupted and shows a very relatable battle of inner strength in multiple scenarios. That and I don't know... a badass female who kicks ass? Landslide win.

heres my opnion about the best one of wayfinder trio, aqua because she has a interesting story, and in the keyblade war, aqua is the only one that leaves alive, goes to find terra, falls in the realm of darkness. its impressive how she could defeat all those heartless alone. and in kh 0.2 she could use powerful spells, like firaja, blizzaja, etc.

If you think the story isn’t going to change or whatever, this isn’t your old ff7 all over again. The ending explained that.

Bro, when he was talking about the larxene boss fight on re:CoM, I knew what he was talking about, especially since my first play through was on proud, but I did good by having fire and blizzard raids as my main attacks to cheap my way through it (as of right now, I’ve only played up to re:CoM and going to start KH2 but so far love the series and kinda sad I missed out on it when I was younger.)

Imagine in kh4, much like how verum Rex was a video game in the kh universe, kingdom hearts is a video game in Quadratum and you can play remade segments of some of the games, specifically chain of memories

Out of every Dearly Beloved in the series my favorite is one that wasn't on the list: KH Unchained X(what KHUx was before it was Union Cross). There's always been something about it that stuck with me, and I think the most likely thing is that it's a lot more upbeat and cheerful, yet you can still hear the sadness behind it and know that things aren't gonna stay as upbeat as the song leads you to think.

KH1 Sora outfit is my favorite since it's design was based on Mickey Mouse and fits alongside with Goofy and Donald. I feel like every other game lost touch with that idea. I honestly would prefer Limit form outfit in KH2 over his base outfit in 2. Its an upgraded version of 1's design but still keeps that Mickey Mouse idea.

Sure, there was Mickey's letter at the end, but otherwise every character received closure and the worlds were saved. It's where I finish now on replays of the series because it's where (given what has come after) the series should have ended

Kingdom Hearts 2 is the series peak, in my opinion. Story, mechanics, atmosphere, music, cutscenes, everything. 358/2 is a close second for me. Mostly because of the story, but close second. It felt like it was maturing with the audience and the darker tone was appreciated greatly. Most of the other side games muddled the story way too much. Ive always said they should have just been their own IPs because stuff like Unchained doesn't even register in my brain as a Kingdom Hearts game because it's so disconnected from everything the first two entries handled. Then KH3 just dropped the ball by utterly failing to give any of the trios' stories a true, meaningful, cathartic ending. Especially after 13 odd years of waiting. I'm at the point where I've lost interest in KH4 because it seems so far separated from where the series started that I don't even know who the characters are anymore. I've also thought that the series should have more or less ended with Kingdom Hearts 2, considering how the rest of it turned out. 358/2 can stay because the story was really good but the rest of the series could poof out of existence and I wouldn't be bothered. 0.2 was decent but I can't shake the thought that the Wayfinder trio were supposed to be like off-brand protagonists for a little prequel spinoff but they forced them to be more important than anyone really wanted them to be. Like they tried too hard to bring the Wayfinder trio into the main story and I think that's where things started getting messed up story-wise. Kingdom Hearts is still my favorite series, but i only say that when looking at the earlier games. I played the later ones because they were "Kingdom Hearts" and i was too young to care, got older and realized how the story slowly degraded into nonsense. In any case, great video, cool to see where some of the fanbase's heads are at.

Re:Chain of Memories works better when you mash triangle lol. The only boss I had a problem with was Vexen and that's just because he had a guard. Also Marluxia's final form was hard at first until I found out you mash x and triangle at different times and it's just as easy as every other boss fight lol. Second phase marluxia, mashing x works best for sure

In terms of console ports/remakes, I think Days is probably the one of the three portable/mobile entries without a console game release that's best served as a game vs a movie/cutscene compilation, simply because the gameplay loop services the story - Some people take issue with the somewhat repetitive nature of the gameplay, which is fair enough in that it's not for everyone, but I would argue that that's sort of the point? The mission structure can feel a bit monotonous to some players, sure, but I'd argue the actual gameplay/controls themselves are solid, especially for the first DS game in the series, and that monotony is key to the contrast and development of the Sea Salt Trio's story and relationships. Even putting aside small character moments not just from them but also the rest of the Organization that are lost when the game is cutscene comped ("Roxas, that's a stick." I'll still never forgive them for taking our "Roxas, that's a stick" from us), it very much gives the vibes of a boring minimum wage job where you're just waiting for your shift to end so you can go hang out with your friends. The passage of time is more tangible as you effectively clock in and out of work every day, and it better puts you in Roxas's shoes of wanting to go to see your friends, and makes it hit harder when things start properly falling apart - Like, of course he bailed and tried to stop Xemnas himself in the end after the way the guy's whole plot destroyed the one thing Roxas really had to hold onto outside of his shifts at this he didn't really have any investment in outside of those friend/coworkers he lost. If my boss pulled that shit I'd be in prison.

I’m a big KH3 lover (i even streamed me beating level 1 crit) but with “best worlds” i chose KH2 due to being able to go back and do more in them. It just felt nice from a gameplay perspective. Being given a reason to go back to the worlds. However yes, KH3 world design is great (aside from San Fransokyo).

For me the best worlds out of the games I know were in KH1 for the simple reason that your presence there actually matters. In KH1 Team Sora and the Heartless left a trail of narrative (and occasionally literal) devastation in their wake, derailing the stories of the worlds partway through or foiling the conditions needed for them to start in the first place. But in 2 and what I've seen of 3 it's mostly just retreads of the world's relevant movie with a bit of fluff and a few enemies to give you something to do while the movie plays itself out around you.

Personally speaking, KH3 worlds feel the most empty overall despite how big they are. Yeah it is more seamless but doesn’t really feel like I’m exploring much. Other KH games give me more of feeling that I’m going around the entire world.

I think on the best worlds mainline game, KH3 was really gutted with some of the worlds. The overall short length of the playtime didn't help either, since three seems to just be a slapdash ending to fire up KH 4, which I assume will be longer than KH2. I think the best worlds to explore were Big Hero 6 and Toy Story, but yeah, just my take on it. I assume Shibuya is gonna be everyone's favorite world when we get to play it.

We just didn't really get to go back to any of the worlds, not even for post game enemies. A shame we didn't get to go back to UW in 3.

Saying KH3 has the best world DESIGN just feels wrong. Sure they're the most visually impressive, but Toy Box and Arendelle physically hurt to play, which isn't something I can say about worlds in 1 and 2 at any point. Even the Atlanticas and Pride Rock respect my time by being short

Only just found out about this channel from this video turning up in my recommended, so safe to say I kinda missed out on when the polls were a thing, but I did kinda do my own, private votes as I watched, but I feel inclined to provide a full take for 6:23 First things first, to be fair to most of the other games in the series, KH2 and KH3 have been the only ones I've given a proper, full playthrough of [I played the tiniest shred of CoM on an emulator on an old phone, and the demo of DDD on 3DS, but that's about it for other games thus far...one day, though] _However,_ strictly choosing between KH2 and KH3 though, I still give the worlds to KH2 by a country mile Yes, KH2 is Hallway Simulator, while KH3 gives you like 6 proper, wide open worlds [would like to remind everyone, however, that Twilight Town got shrunk, Keyblade Graveyard pulled a KH2 itself, and San Fransokyo is basically just *one room]* and some level of shmovement to explore them But I'm factoring *everything* about a world when thinking about this, the overall aesthetic/basis of the world, the music, the characters [namely the allies], any unique Heartless, bosses, story, etc. And putting that all together, KH3 fell incredibly short, and that's without mentioning how it felt like none of the worlds could go for very long without severely annoying me when I did my playthrough Not going to go on any dedicated, extreme wall about it--at least unprompted, I just think it's important to go beyond the [admittedly deserved] ribbing of "haha hallway sim" when actually comparing KH2's worlds to those in other games, because for the most part, what they lacked in the substance of being a physical space, they usually more than made up in many other parts

Kingdom hearts 2 has the best worlds Then maybe dream drop distance and birth by sleep I hate kingdom hearts 3 worlds. They pretty much all suck except for Hercules and Pirates. Toy box you explore Andy’s bedroom and then his front yard then spend 80% of your time playing overwatch in a random toy store and sadly I think that’s one of the better worlds!! Frozen is just a generic Snowmountain and easy to get lost and Tangled is just forest and coves If you remove the story cut scenes and the character in your party these worlds would not even make me think of their movies

Idk,imo i wouldnt want to see any MCU/SW in Kingdom Hearts because of how powerful the characters in KH are to begin with.Unless they somehow lose their Keyblade/severely regress in power level then they would probably just one shot the villains from the respective films unless they do something like the Monster Inc world.

About the Worlds in KH2 and KH3, I think there's two ways to look at. KH3 has the best world design overall, but they are used very poorl, story-wise. Also, many fans are still hurt about the way they cut 80% of Twilight Town.

KH3 worlds fall off because of what franchises they're from. Plus, a lot of them are big but with barely anything to do. The sole exception is the Pirates world (which is absolutely better than the KH2 Pirates world), but that's one world. The rest drag it down unfortunately. And I will die on this hill: Riku is the best! He grows, he gets stronger (both with his powers and as a person), and I find his journey just really great. That's it. That's the comment. :)

I CAN SEE THE NOSTALGIA FLOWING INTO EVERYONES BLOOD! But in all seriousness, as someone who didn't grow up with kingdom hearts, and played all of the games basically back to back around 3 years ago (except days, still haven't played), It's really hard to understand some of the votes on kh 2. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the games, and 2 is one of the best no doubt (it's the best combat of the series imo), but there's so much that I really can't wrap my head around on why people voted for, the world design for example, and even when it did not won, it got so many votes on things I really don't agree. I just wanted to share my opinion as someone who joined the community recently, as I think the other games should be more appreciated, and less compared to 2.

I have no attraction to fictional characters I would choose Aqua out of all of them cuz while she’s overprotective and a bit… overpoetic if that makes sense? If you decided to do another poll like this, I think it would be a benefit to place BBS with the numbered games. It’s stil exactly 4 slots, and I feel like even though it isn’t numbered, most people hold it above the other side games and would consider it on the level of a numbered game. Idk maybe this is just my biased ass opinion

Hot take: Kh1 should never get a remake they havent yet and they shouldnt if you oh but what about the final mixes thats just a report not a remake but if they made a remake of kh1 it would just be for money and i dont think it would be as good as the kh1 we have now hot take 2: sora should never be a keyblade master hes not responsible with his powers and honestley it would be more interisting if sora never becomes a keyblade master and i dont think they should ever make sora a keyblade master unless they end soras story because its more of a goal for sora that should be at the end Hot take 3: the card system is good Hot take 4: They should not make a cartoon of kingdom hearts but they should make a kingdom hearts anime

whoever says kh2 has the best worlds is capping fr. don't get me wrong i love kh2 as much as the next guy but it's world design is very... not good, and most of the disney world's stories have absoloutely nothing to do with the wider plot (exceptoisn being tron, which is still the best example of good disney world intergration, and beasts castle). personally i think kh1 has the best disney worlds. i think it has the best world design and has consistently decent disney world intergration

People don’t just vote for aqua because she’s hot. Unlike the guys she doesn’t blunder through the worlds like an idiot and actually uses her head. Ventus’s story is pretty bland and he’s just blindly chasing down terra without much thought of the consequences. Terra get manipulated left and right and makes one bad decision after another. Aqua actually resolves most of the issues she comes across and she thinks about her actions.

No KH show. Reminder that every bit of Kingdom Hearts is owned by Disney. It would misrepresent the series in the first 6 episodes, get a lot of backlash from the fans, get it together for the rest of the season, have a rushed season 2 and get cancelled.
