Hi you two (3) There are many orders of the Amish. The traditional Amish do not have any modern conveniences, ie; phones, televisions, radios, computers, lights, cars, tractors, lawnmowers, etc. Also, most of them would not be seen on camera.They live as our first settlers would have. They have their own schools, churches, etc. They are bilingual, but the language spoken and written is German. All Americans, not Amish, are referred to as "The English" (because we are English speakers.) If you are interested, watch Peter Santenello's podcast series on these people. I think you would really enjoy Peter's traveling through the real America and his perspectives. Best regards from Missouri.

The "Amish" Amish have no electricity, plumbing, phones or any other modern conveniences. They live like we did in the 1800's.

Hi again; I hardley ever leave comments, never two. Just realized you did not know that the Amish are a religious order. They fled persecution in Germany seeking religious freedom in America. They are allowed their own communities here.

It's surprising that some of the women shook hands with the guys in this video. I say this because women in these societies are not allowed generally to touch men. I know there are different levels of strictness within their society, but most won't allow women to be near strange men. The Amish sell homemade products to the "Americans." I have heard that products are of very good quality.
