I'm British, i can remember eating sugar sandwich - plain white bread with sugar on it!

I think "bland" white bread makes the sandwich as it doesn't try to dominate the taste as opposed to healthy, more expensive bread. As for Marmite, those trying it initially probably hate it because they overdo the serving, as they feel it has the texture of honey and looks like chocolate sauce.

In Scotland we invented Lorne Sausage which is square and flat so it can't roll off the bread.

Tim Tam's each have their excellent characteristics, more choice of flavour with Tim's but Penguins have a single flavour but good recipe. Good evaluation YV

Mother used to feed us kids fairy bread when was a child, going back few years now though (50+). I also do your Sizzlers, but I put the sausage on end of the bread then roll it up (like a bread sausage roll) and use mustard instead of Tom source

Vegemite tastes like burnt cabbage, which is odd as it contains celery and onion. Marmite doesn’t contain veg, but that and an extra brew is basically the only difference.

Tim Tams were manufactured a few years after penguins but they are basically the same thing. I believe according to my Aussie cousins Tim tams have more flavours.

Yvette, can you please make damper in a video? My great uncle emigrated to Australia in the 60’s and he used to go walking in the bush a lot and apparently made savoury damper and the chocolate chip one from scratch as opposed to the box type. My Great uncle Alan passed away a few years ago so that would bring back good memories for me.

For me, Vegemite and Marmite taste very similar, but Vegemite has far less taste, so you need more
