As a Marylander born and raised, I was super delighted that you did an episode/video on our world famous blue crabs and the hard work of commercial crabbing on the Bay. Sonny, I urge you to come back for a second tour as there are tons of other great things to cover in Maryland beyond crabs. An episode or episodes on the Eastern Shore would definitely take viewers through some breathtaking views of beach and shore life. But also there are hidden gem beer breweries that would let you do videos in the area of farm to table. And of course your tour should include Washington, DC and parts of Northern VA. For example, two unique multiple Michelin star places like Inn at Little Washington or Jose Andreas's Minibar have been covered by the media before but never by food travel influencers. I know your team has a lot of locals to choose from each year, especially when you have the full globe to choose from but Maryland should definitely be a follow-on stop for your next tour back in the States.

My mom is from Emmitsburg MD, and when I was a boy and we went to visit my grandma, we'd always go to the Ott House and get grocery bags full of blue crabs in Old Bay. We'd take them back to Grandma's, lay out newspaper on the living room floor, and break up/eat crab all afternoon. We were poor, but ALWAYS did this. Thanks for awakening those great memories. Correction big guy. In Maryland crabs aren't boiled, but steamed. It keeps the soul of the bay within them. Cajun's don't like that, because you get the spices all over your hands, but crab isn't spongy. The one point that sticks with both of our cultures is, beer closes the divide. Then the battle is between Old Bay or Creole Seasoning.
@ralphpratt967110 ай бұрын
There's another method to crabbing you see in MD in the fall. Scraping. The crabs mate and hang on the poles or other solid objects in the water. You net them while in the process of mating. Then they are called, "doublers". Coitus interuptus.

He'd also bring some main lobster for my mom and some fish for the people who don't like or are allergic to crab or lobster. Mind you, I also have a severe shellfish allergy but that wimp death can't/won't stop me from eating it, i just take Benadryl or keep the epi-pen handy. I didn't realize how much i missed home until I watched this. I have been out of MD for 7 years now. I am in Denver now and is much as I like Denver I started crying when He started talking about friends and Crab Feasts. The Yuengling on the table didn't help, can't get that here

Love the channel. It will be sad when Better Help is exposed for the scam it really is.

Marylander here. Honest to God, other states, I know it looks weird, but a soft shell crab sandwich is like the crab version of a Chick Fil A sandwich. It's absolutely amazing, one of my favorite foods hands down! Don't forget the Old Bay.

I'm genuinely sick of seeing "better help" ads. They are fraudulent, and that's dangerous when it comes to people's mental health. They've had troubles that became public, yet podcasts and channels still hock fraud services for some ad money. Gross, dude

I find it worse when they advertise for gambling apps.
@GrantSeinerOutdoors9 ай бұрын
@user-ow8mq4jo8c that's another personal problem I have with some of the ads. But I do respect other people's ability to gamble. Selling fake mental health help is wrong on all accounta. Gambling isn't good, but if you want to, then go ahead

After watching you eat crabs in south east Asia I’m so glad I got to see try our blue crabs. Gotta try crabbing on a trot line, most fun you can have on the bay

It makes me so happy to see him in Maryland enjoying some crabs! almost makes me miss them. Been on the West Coast for 15 years now. An OMG those thick Maryland accents! My brother has one, but I went to private school and I none whatsoever

LIved in Westminster, MD for over 6 years and I would literally eat crabs every other days lmao... It was cheap when I lived there. $1 per crab. and ALWAYS have the Old Bay ready lol.

When was that? I think the days of $1 crabs are, sadly, long gone.

I was in Philly over the weekend and went by a seafood shop in the 9th St Italian market and picked up a half-dozen live blues - ate all 6 for dinner that night: doused with Old Bay and steamed ‘em and they were succulent! Sweetest crab meat I’ve ever had.
