Yeah, because their food is so good, they think they don't have to worry about amenities. I do. They might accidentally get carryout business from me, but I doubt it. Your video made me cry! I have been going to Southside for all long as I can remember, half my family is buried there in the main cemetery. My dad would always take us there to eat. Seeing the old location brought back so many fond and wonderful memories. You missed their pork steaks... but, nothing beats their sausage. YUM!!! I have been craving Southside... now! I know I have to make the 3 hour trek there and back! Thank you!!!

Unironically Buc-ee's is significantly better than Dickey's. If you used a standard bell-curve, Buc-ee's is the definition of a 5.0 on the scale, and Dickey's sits at around a 3.1, maybe even a bit lower

Thank you for a great video. What amazed me the most was that both of the places that were the oldest they simply used salt and pepper to season their meat. I smoked a brisket myself for a birthday party and I got so many compliments and I simply used salt and pepper. Nothing else

Dylan, you are now a real Texan! Congrats and welcome!! Dickey's BBQ sadly has lost their way. They used to be much better when I moved to Texas from Massachusetts in 1996. There are a few of their locations that still produce quality BBQ, but they are low in numbers. I've not been to Cooper's or Southside Market yet, but I will soon. My #1 for Texas BBQ? Hutchins BB Q in Frisco and McKinney. Take a ride and try em.

I'm a native Texan and we can tell if it is going to be good BBQ just by the smell. You mentioned that outside of Coopers. Texas BBQ is more how it's cooked than sauces. You can't beat good old salt and pepper.

I live in Kingsland, TX - exactly 22 miles from Llano or Burnet. I have my choice of several very famous and renowned BBQ places, but will drive out of my way to go to Opie's Barbecue in Spicewood, TX on Hwy 71. Be sure to try the baked potato casserole. Though, if you really want to know all about Texas BBQ, you've got to go to one ore many of the random "Cookoffs". My bro-in-law has won Grandmaster of many, along with countless awards.
