“Why can’t we eat horses!!!???” It’s an interesting story, actually. People used to eat horse all the time. It was actually sacred to the God Freyr. But then the church came along and banned the practice as pagan. Overtime it just became taboo. But yeah, there’s really no other reason. Horse meat is fine and apparently tastes alright. I’d like call up a Tongan family if you want to try it. They probably know where you could get one. My cousins ex-wife had a story about when her dad sold one of their horses to these Tongan. They pulled up in a pickup truck and he was like “I don’t know if it will fit” so the dude pulled out a hatchet and was like “oh it’ll fit!”

Horse is pretty regular meat in europe. has been always. its a little more rare now than it used to be but still easily available and a lot of classic dishes in my country of germany have horse in them.
