I live in Norway, Scandinavia. The most important thing, I think, is that the diet is as close to the raw material as possible. Evolutionarily, we are not made for multi-processed food. English breakfast, which consists of eggs and bacon, is a good example of a good start to the day. You get a lot of good proteins and normal fat. This keeps you full for a long time and reduces the need to snack throughout the day before the main meal.
@dude8612 ай бұрын
Norway is not a good example of "as close to the raw material as possible" though. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Norway and spend most of my vacations there. But the food quality seems to be a bit lower than in Germany (though probably still much higher than in the US). Well, of course you find completely unprocessed foods in Norway and they are perfectly fine. But there are also processed foods that simply have more chemicals inside than their counterparts in Germany. Sausages (both, these "grill polse" as you name them as well as the meat that you typically put on bread (don't know the english word for it, google just labels that as sausage as well) for example contain several E-number ingredients that are not found in german sausage.

@MasterShake90002 ай бұрын
@@itzakehrenberg3449 lol, do your research. Beans on toast was invented in America by Heinz in 1927 and only became popular in Britain during ww2 rationing. Bacon and eggs have been part of the full English breakfast for centuries. Plus the bacon and egg sandwich was invented in Britain in the 1500s. The pairing was artificially pushed in the US in the 1900s by a distribution company trying to make bacon more popular.

I really enjoyed this video because you kept it real! Life happens, and it gets harder when you have kids (especially toddlers) to stick to a diet or exercise. I gained some weight after pregnancy and have been trying to adjust to my new lifestyle as a mother. I tried fasting and diet, with no results. I decided to do the basics, like eat cleaner (less noodles or quick pre-made meals), soup for dinner, and, overall, more balanced meals. I'm from Portugal, so a Mediterranean diet is a natural go-to. I started walking more and counting my steps. I'm committing to the end result with no time frame and no stress on the process.

BETTER PLACE MENTALLY, like you said. I'm totally in this phase with my diet right now. For over 3 years, I was stuck in a cycle of extremes-keto, carnivore, low-carb-and my mental health took a hit. Now, I've adopted a more balanced Japanese-style approach. I focus on portion control with small plates, eating lunch and dinner with sprouted grains, soups, 8 oz of meat, small fish, watercress, Brussels sprouts, and a cup of grains once a day. I rotate between cold-pressed celery juice at morning, sprouted oatmeal, and/or eggs (4 eggs a day, 5 times a week) for a fasting window. My meals are all single-ingredient foods, and I'm loving microgreens in every meal as well. I decided to cut out raw dairy because it was causing cravings and weight gain, and I've also cut coffee to monitor my energy levels. Every day, I add 4 oz of freshly squeezed orange juice for a vitamin C boost-it’s therapeutic for me, it feels amazing. I still cook with grass-fed butter, and on top of that, I’m taking 30,000 IU of vitamin D with K2 because my labs showed my levels were low (around 30). Mentally, I feel like I’m in such a better place now compared with these other regimens. Kudos to you Thomas! It takes courage online to accept that you are switching diets after being known for an specific one, but we need more influencers like you that are normal people like us!

Doesn't help, when your bred is industrial crap with pestizides, perserving agents and sugarsirup in it, that had only hours to prove instead of freshly baked bred with only natural flour, water and salt (sourdough) or natural flour, water, yeast and salt as only ingredients, but 36 hours to prove. Same for fresh vegetables - they need time to ripe. sunlight and natural conditions to turn out good an healthy. Eggs, milk and meat get better, the more the animals can live outdoors and on good gras with a lot of variety, not with disenfectants or pestizides. Buy fresh food, make your one food and cook for yourself daily. Eat small portions, don't combine lots of high carbohydrates with a lot of fat. They eat at lunch or dinner first a plate of pasta with sparse sauce, and than vegetables with meat though most people don't eat those two in one meal. Fruit for desert or some kind of tarte. They eat late in the evening and mostly skip breakfast or have only a croissant or some buiscuits with coffee. No snacks in between meals. That's the italian diet for you. Everything else varies from country to country dramaticly. He was in Italy (where the food qualitiy is much more important for normal people than, let's say, in the UK), if he would eat like a british or a dutch person it would come out differently. In Germany you start traditionally with a good breakfast based on bred and jam or honey, sometimes a boiled egg, for lunch you eat vegetables, potatoes and meat, salad on the side and fruit as dessert and close the day with a small portion of bread with sausage, ham or cheese (all cold). My grandmother thaught me to "eat in the morning like an emperor, at noon like a king and in the evening like a beggar."

Lunch is a big meal. then you nap, and then you eat dinner very late. none of this 3 squares a day. Children is different, we feed them soft boiled eggs with bread in the morning before school, pack fruit for snack. they come home for lunch, which is usually soup or leftovers. we eat lots of bread. always. we arent fat because we walk everywhere, and we wait for our meals, like 18 hours for lunch, and dinner is at least 8 hours later.

Thee Minnesota Starvation Experiment during WW2 took the average caloric consumption at the time in half. The subjects went from 3,500 calories to 1,750. This was the average caloric intake for 5’6” men. The US Army estimated a soldier deployed in the field in the winter required 8-10k per day during WW2. So 3,500 was for a person in a normal living situation and normal exercise. To eat 3,500 calories people ate fat. Like the Europeans. The French Paradox revealed this. Mammals develop from milk. Milk is typically quantified as high fat. Macros for milk are even ish if you drink whole milk. Dairy products typically lower lactose ( carbs ). Animal fat is more than energy for the human physiology. That is why some are classified as essential for human life. An interesting test is to put Butter on saltine crackers. Count how many you eat before naturally stopping. Now eat them without butter. Most people can eat many more before being satiated and stopping.

I recently read that Evoo is, in fact, a great oil to bake and fry with. I used to think that you couldn't cook or bake with it at all due to the heat. This is what i read. "Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) contains the highest level of polyphenols, micronutrient antioxidant compounds. When heated, polyphenols maintain extra virgin olive oil's stability and prevent it from breaking down and creating harmful byproducts called polar compounds. Some polyphenols are lost from heat but a significant amount remain in the extra virgin olive oil even at temperatures over 400 degrees fahrenheit. There’s two fascinating processes that happen when you cook with extra virgin olive oil. Polyphenols and antioxidant compounds transfer onto the food you cook and beneficial phytochemicals transfer into the EVOO and become more bioavailable. EVOO has the healthiest fat profile of all cooking oils because of its monounsaturated omega nine fatty acids composition." Courtesy of My Health Forward

Yes, people keep talking about the smoke point (about 180 °C for olive oil), but that's not the point where oxidation really happens. It is much better to look at the peroxidation index. There you will see the real picture. The so called cooking oils like sunflower oil, that have a higher smoke point, actually start oxidizing very fast (and much faster than the WAY more stable olive oil). Which makes totally sense since these seed oils are high in polyunsaturated fats.They are instable and potentially very dangerous.

I was on higher fat, full fat Greek yogurt, full fat milk, eggs, avocados, red meat, veggies, fruits as well, cheeses, etc. Also the cheat butter biscuits. Make my own sourdough bread and eat a lot of it. My cholesterol numbers shot up especially the LDL and the total cholesterol. The lab put 3 exclamation marks next to those numbers. I was quite confused to begin with but I would like to think that the size of my particles remained high. My HDL is slightly over the upper limit and my TRG is also very low like 0.7. Not what the lab thinks though. I also ate about 2 eggs a day which may be where the high cholesterol numbers come in. My vit D level is higher too and the other basic blood tests I had, were also in check. My hormone levels are very good according to the doctor. I will have another cholesterol test done soon for I want to see if it is the eggs giving me such a high number of 4.6 on my LDL. So no eggs but rest of diet remaines somewhat unchanged. This kind of diet I followed for a year where i stayed in good shape and at a low weight of 57kgs. Thanks for the upload.

I was trying to do a more Mediterranean diet as per my doctor's request - I had the exact opposite response to it. I was constantly hungry. While the food was delicious and could satisfy - it was only for the temporary. Within an hour or two, everything in me said "you need to eat". Lab work looked worse (A1Cs up, cholesterols up, a few other labs that I never had an issue with were also up). On the flip side, I felt my best on carnivore. I had a minimal meal (more like snack) in the morning to get me going - then had a moderate amount of red meat at night (oddly enough, I also get butcher box) - and I'd feel satisfied and more importantly, I didn't feel like I had to eat for the rest of the night. Meat is as delicious as it is - though not much variety in flavor and texture - but I was happy that I could be satisfied with so little and not have to fight the constant pull telling me to go find something to eat. Labs on carnivore had my A1C down to the lowest I had ever had, majority of things were within normal range, I had lost weight and kept it off - the only thing did show that after 4 months on it, my LDL had gone up by 4 points - which threw my doctor into a tizzy (even though it isn't in any danger zone) which is why I finally conceded to her constant pleading for Mediterranean. Gained back 20 pounds, A1C went right back to where it used to be... I'm just not happy with it. So I'm quietly switching back to carnivore but I think I'll try more half and half of red vs lean meat... and this time also cutting out coffee (which isn't a huge deal - coffee is more of a 'I just like it' kinda thing, not a necessary thing. I can drink it for months then just forget it exists for months before I realize "oh, I haven't had any coffee - that sounds good." kinda relationship with it. I'm just pushing myself to go into the 'forget it exists' realm this go around.)

After more than 40 years of presence in North America, I've never adjusted to the diet here. I stick mostly to my European traditions and feel great. During my driving across the USA, I was desperately looking for places serving local cuisine just like in Europe. All I found is one size for all standards.
@Kinesiology4112 ай бұрын
There are TONS of restaurants specializing in local, fresh food in any major city in the US. And what exactly have you been consuming that made you feel bad?
@brucefake27322 ай бұрын
I think claiming to eat like a European is not accurate. A Swede, a Pole, an Englishman do not eat like an Italian or a Greek or a Spaniard.

Visited the US not long ago, and felt terrible when eating regular food. Had to seek out the organic stuff, just to not feel awful when eating. It was totally bizarre.
@larsgibbon33272 ай бұрын
My observations from visiting both the US and Europe is rather simple. Europe has much much better quality of food. I know, for example, in France a lot of food is regulated for the quality. The European portion size when you go out are reasonable. Europeans tends to walk a lot more, they do not jump in a car at any opportunity, they use a combination of public transport and walking. Also, have a look at Japan, again, high food quality available everywhere, sensible portion sizes and lots of walking.

I don't know if you've noticed or not but you have a habit of promoting many different disciplines by showing your six pack of abs and suggesting that it was because of this thing that you got the apps that you have. Don't get me wrong. I really appreciate all your work. But if you want to be truly credible then you have to be truly honest. If you want to show off your apps once in awhile just do it and tell us the many things that you do to get them or maintain them. But please don't try to continually lead us to believe or insinuate with a picture that it's because of this latest supplement or food discipline that you receive to those abs because of this one thing. I think that most of us who follow you do it just because we appreciate your content and not because of sensationalism. But, with the grain of criticism please also accept my gallon of appreciation for the many many times you have helped.

Do you think that there could be less digestive discomfort due to the type of wheat they use in Italy? I could actually eat wheat in Italy with little discomfort vs. Australia where we use American Red Wheat
