The reason why Nidoking is bad is because it's a stone evolution. Since you can get stone evolution so early the game balance them by giving the bad learn sets. So the optimal strategy is to have them learn good moves as there prevolution then evolve them. But in a randomise there just stuck with really bad moves.

Yep, rule of thumb is to expect no learned moves from a stone evo, though there are exceptions like the Eeveelutions. And in Sword/Shield you can abuse it because of free unlimited move relearner at all Pokémon Centers; all those moves the prior form could’ve learned get listed as Level 1 in the evolution’s learn set, so you can “remember” them right away.

Idea for a nuzlock: iron mouse has to pick which Pokémon Connor can and can’t use. Connor is allowed to pick where to get an encounter, but items, manage moveset, etc, but mouse has full control over the team roster and who is used at what time. Hell mode: ironmouse can reject evolutions and only 1 Pokémon per area

Dunno why he was so against her getting Mareep. Mareep line is decent and electric is a good type. Machamp is better early sure but it's a randomizer so you can't really rely on knowing what's coming up anyway.
