I’m Korean and two things I gotta say: 1. At first when I saw Fred in Evelyn’s channel, I thought he’s Korean lol 2. Fred is actually a kpop idol material he has those vibes + but honestly saying, he probably won’t make it for the singing category, not because he’s a bad singer but because of his age. He’s kinda old to start training as a kpop idol and agencies know that. Ik he’s just trying out for fun but since some people are saying he can become one, not really… but yes, he is that k-boyfriend material

this is just the beginning, fred has a potential to be a kpop idol, like literally, he got the charm, the voice, the confidence (he just need a little bit of push) and even tho im not korean i can probably say that its not bad, he do sounds like one of them(based on my observation as a kpop and kdrama fan). But for serious note, Fred go for it, many of the kpop idols right now are just like you before a kpop idol wanna be, but look at them now, probably my best example is jake, and jay, from enhypen they stumbled up a video of bts too and since then dream to become one of them. I believed in you Fred, go chase this dream of yours!

I really don’t think so. Trainees start way too young these days and agencies don’t accept trainees that are older unless they are like astronomically talented in something or eun woo level handsome . Speaking perfect korean is the basic + prolonged training in singing and dancing. There is no problem in him trying tho.

So when I turned 17 I just sent in some auditions without my parents knowing haha. But yeah I sent them in more just for „fun“. Ofc it was a dream of mine back then and it would have been cool when they actually accepted me but that didn‘t happen ^^ but now I can say that I at least tried right? :D

Something to take in to account while doing this process. A lot of idols get torn apart by cancel culture by things they have done a long time ago. Fans bring it back up and sometimes they even get put out of the company. So if you have ever done anything that you weren’t educated on or said anything ignorant and didn’t know, you should probably take note of those things and be prepared because people will dig up as much dirt as possible. Just letting you know since your putting in all this hard work. Wish you the best!! 🙂🙂

yo props to you for having the confidence to do this it’s definitely not easy, and you went the extra mile by singing in korean and acting out a part from a korean drama :0 it is definitely difficult to get in, but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t ! i’m not gonna tell you to not be discouraged, bc i’ve definitely been there. it’s always hard to accept failure/rejection, but it’s a learning opportunity. plus, there is always the possibility, and if it doesn’t happen, who says you can’t try again? you’ll only continue to grow and improve from here on :D auditioning is a great experience to have, and you really learn a lot in the process. i’ve been to 3 in-person auditions, and they’ve all been incredible experiences. you’re in a room with like-minded people who all have the same dream. you make friends along the way, you stress together, you laugh together. i didn’t expect to see a video like this, but i’m glad you’ve found an interest in kpop! a lot of times we get a bad rep but if you find the right people, it’ll be great (trust me i’ve been in this for almost 7 years now)

Yo Fred, hopefully u r gonna read this . So basically i also wanted to become a k-pop idol, and my issues were looks and nationality .I developed the passion cause i like music but it was so sudden and i don't even take any music lessons .However i felt like i REALLY wanted to pass and get to be a trainee. I guess when i saw k-pop idols living their life, going to all those fun shows, being loved by so many people, i also wanted to be like them. I did develop a passion for music, and auditioned for two different companies. I didn't get in (duh). I remember i was addicted to those trainee vlogs/ vids . I also wanted to be famous like BTS, be in the spotlight ect. I lost my interest in what i used to love , for me was science. The auditions were during my exams but i spent more time on them than studying so as a result , i did TERRIBLE. Then i know this k-pop idol thing ISN'T for me. Based on your introduction( sorry if i'm mistaken) you seemed to want to become a k-pop idol suddenly too. Maybe this might be right to you or not.Whatever it is, good luck and do not be too disappointed if you didn't get in:)

You can fit korean beauty standard and even with korean styling, you will be much more handsome. But the problem is since you don’t speak korean, you will need to learn korean and it take up to 2 to 3 years to master it perfectly while you may take some singing, modeling, acting training. I don’t know your age but if you were between 15-18 years old to start to be trainee, you have an high chance to succeed. But above that it’s harder unless your agency is able to manage a career for you in Korea and China.

i think so too, if he was in his teens he might have had a high chance, but it's almost impossible to become a trainee in your twenties now with no prior trainee experience, like 10 years ago maybe, but nowadays competition is too tough, you have kids who only just started walking already training to become an idol.

To be fair, I think ethnicity is not a majorly deciding factor in korean agencies. I notice that if a person somewhat fits the Korean beauty standard, they will accept them, even people who are not Korean or don't even know the Korean language.

Yep Fred is Chinese and there are tons of successful Chinese idols in Kpop. And plus point is Fred speaks English. Kpop agencies always look for trainees who are fluent in more than one languages especially in English.

For most trainees who aren't natural performers or singers, agencies would look at the potential of possible trainee + their visuals (you definitely have this). The whole first 1 min of this video is sooo fucking relatable man Literally my whole ass journey lowkey started back in 2012 when Psy gangnam style was trending, but it faded away and then in 2018 i first heard songs of BP and BTS back and it was bangers but i was also very critical of the songs and i thought bts’s songs especially were a little overhyped but still liked bp’s song at the time, but that was pretty much it and then basiaclly 10 years later since my first encounter with k pop i have been soo drawn to this k pop shananigans😭 i need a f break or detox of some sort because it is so dangerously addicting anyway during 2020/2021 i went on an exchange and ended up being roomie with a mixed ethnic korean girl and she kind of introduced me again to k pop but this time with other new groups that werent bts or bp and fast forward to about june/july 2022 a video of someone reacting to skz’s felix’s deep voice and mv to god’s menu popped up or maybe it was a shorts video and i watched it and i enjoyed both the Mv, voices, the song, dancing, the reaction and EVERYTHING then i think i got a recommendation on a video called «skz on crack» and from there on my whole ass KZbin turned into a 24/7 skz videos only-tube 1 video turned into hours/days of watching skz video and only videos of skz all the time because of yt’s algorithm and then i got some random video of other k pop idols and k pop groups (both girls and boys) and one of the groups that caught my attention was the enhypen boys/group, so i researched them quickly, but because i had recently gotten into skz and it had been taking over my life (still is) and watching and keeping up with all these videos posted for a consecutive 4 years due to their debut in 2018 it was all so time consuming but i was still intrigued and continued watching lol i had lowkey decided that i wouldn’t Get interested in another k pop group because i already liked bp’s songs and skz, but then i heard of some scandal of enhypen because i got a video recommended to me on yt about it i watched it because i was curious about it and eventually that led me to enhypen’s SUNOO which i absolutely adore but also felt so sorry for and eventually began having internal beef with Niki oop however i started getting interested in SUNOO because he is sooo cute and he reminded me of felix which i already liked and my first bias ever.. because i had watched skz content and a few videos of enhypen i eventually got into enhypen as well and just like skz i have been spending sooo much time devoting my time/life basically to k pop I also made a freaking playlist with all the songs i liked of skz and enhypen and honestly i am scared to stand anymore groups because i knoww how addicting and obsessing it can be and it already is, but has that stopped me from finding other members of other groups i really Adore nope 🧍‍♀️🤚so not only do i stand other individual k pop idols as well, but because of the k pop content lately my whole feed on Instagram is «corrupted» by k pop content too now it’s scary Anyways obviously since i got into k pop i also got into the idea of wanting lowkey to become a k pop idol, but then again i am not korean, i do not know korean, i can’t really sing or dance and i definitely do not pass the kbs and im getting (too)✨old✨ to start with training or even auditioning now so this is so very relatable also i probably have way to many opinions or random ass shit and probably have some controversies during my childhood/ attitude or whatever and also i need my minimum 8 hours of «beauty» sleep so yuh lolzies

I have some advice for you. Firstly, I'm really proud and amazed that it took just one video-or a couple-to encourage you to get up and actually do this. It takes a lot of self-confidence, energy and believing in yourself to do this which is really admirable. What I wanted is say is this. You mentioned that you weren't Korean and that this was your first attempt in these kinds of things, like acting or singing, but you weren't big, which is totally okay, but not always the best choice. You weren't for everything at once, and focused on learning certain words, which might have worked, but think of the bigger picture. Say you pass, the next audition will of course be more difficult. My point is that you should've started with the basics. Acting: You weren't straight for the words and you didn't mention it, but I doubt you learnt their characters and pronunciation-correct me if I am wrong. Nobody starts big, I mean, we all have big dreams, but we start small because that's one of the ways we succeed, same thing for all the goals we want to achieve, we start small and eventually work our way up. For the singing and acting category, I feel like you should've started with the alphabets and postponed your audition to a time when you feel confident with your pronunciation. The basics. Start with that, you don't have to learn all about grammar yet, just pronunciation and their characters and work your way up. You'll get there eventually, and everything will stick for a longer time too than just watching and listening in on their words and copying it-which is good, but not as effective when you don't know the basics. I also feel you should've started with a smaller company, that is not as well known-hear me out first. Yes, you can audition to a big company, but your best bet would be a smaller one especially if you practiced like I mentioned above. Bigger companies would be more selective, just like bigger colleges, and you mentioned you don't have much experience-which is okay, but would of course, not work in your favor. In a smaller one, you might be able to get in and they can help you from there. And when I say smaller, I mean a company that's doing well, but not as well known as those ones. I feel like they would train you, and you'd be able to pick up some skills along the way. You can also take up small offers, not exactly for publicity-which will be good, but mostly for the experience and work your way up from there, until you actually get to one of those small companies. Start small and believe in your self and pray and be disciplined too. You'll obviously have a few rough times, but no one starts from being the best. If you read all that, 'Fighting!' and this does not only apply to him. It can apply to anyone that has a dream and doesn't know where or how to start. Start small and build your way up. You can do this!
