Fun fact about Renegade Platinum Delibird, it can be a guaranteed encounter on Route 116 and with 110 Special Attack and 110 Speed for it’s base stats, as well as Technician Air Cutter and access to Aurora Beam, Delibird is capable of outspending and OHKO’ing 4 of Gardenia’s 6 Pokemon without taking a hit I only know this because I did it myself the other day, it was a lot of fun! Renegade Platinum has so many nice changes to so many Pokemon, like Plusle’s fun support moveset with Encore, Wish and the Thunder Wave TM, or Sunflora being able to sweep almost all of Rorak single handedly. It’s a very nice hack to use Pokémon I’ve never tried before and see them shine!

Seeing this live was really enjoyable! For your question at the end, I think a Snaplocke of Inclement Emerald could be really fun. Even more encounter variety would be lit.

Nuzlocke Idea: One Pokemon from each generation only. This type of challenge could be played in any generation for varying difficulty (anywhere from 1 to 9 total encounters). Different encounter rules could be applied to adjust the difficulty as well. For instance, a forced order that makes you catch from Gen 1, then 2 then 3 etc. or reverse which would allow you to take a starter Pokemon and work backwards to Gen 1. I think this challenge would be a great combination of difficulty through limiting total encounters, but also offer a variety of teams for each game and Pokemon types to build diverse rosters. Encounters could either be "semi-random" meaning you start the run and just see what happens, or encounter routing could be planned out before the run starts, allowing some control over the team you build. I think this would be a great challenge for generations 3 and on and would be fun to watch! Go Sox!

Anyway, I would like to once again suggest a Hardcore Nuzlocke of Pokemon Ultra Sun / Moon with only Pokemon that can learn the moves Moonlight / Morning Sun. It would have to be done with eggs since some of these Pokemon aren't available in USUM in the wild. Pokemon that can learn Morning Sun / Moonlight via Level-Up, Egg-Move, or Event in USUM: Espeon, Beautifly, Cherubi, Venonat, Growlithe, Ponyta, Togepi, Sunkern, Pidove, Clefairy, Oddish, Umbreon, Dustox, Volbeat, Illumise, Munna, Morelull, Exeggcute, Sableye, Noivern. If you include Pokemon that can learn this move not in USUM but in another game that came out before it you also get: Solrock, Lunatone, Nidoran Male / Female, Sneasel, Butterfree, Weepinbell, Tangela, and Scyther.

maylene’s infernape is going for random moves because the move that would normally do the most damage to altaria (earthquake) is blocked by levitate. in gen iv when the highest damaging move is blocked by an ability immunity the ai then chooses random moves
