The sprite problem was fixed in Explorers, as the game just now failsafes to the default sprite.

Yep! Doing this type of challenge in Explorers (at least Sky) is much less of a worry since it goes to default sprites; I've done a couple of sky challenges with a changed starter

2:20 this brought me back to when i first played this game, and for the WHOLE game I didn’t understand that you had moves like in the main line. I played the entire game with just the A attack. I was convinced that it was the hardest game ever. I still feel dumb. Glad i learned from my mistakes in the next mystery dungeon game I played. True character development.

It's funny - I never even thought that you could re-enter Pokemon Square the day you become outlaws. When my partner asks if I'm ready, I always just thought "Well, I can't go into town so what else can I do? Is this in case you forgot to save?" Never realized you could chat to the sleeping NPCs to buy/sell/store/link/etc - almost as if they don't really believe you're the bad guy and instinctively still want to help you.

Of note Adurin, if you give Gravelrocks to a partner pokemon, they will essentially become a sniper that spam throws rocks at things you can't even see. I imagine you may have been able to use that.

Yeah! I did this at times, though sometimes the partner either gets too eager to start chucking rocks or completely forgets, so there were some moments that weren't as efficient as it could have been. Still a really solid strategy when in the dungeons though

I pride myself on only the finest "bro, that's a dumb idea" ideas, it goes through a whole process: Step 1: Has this been done before/a lot? Step 2: How feasible is it on a 1-10 scale (1 easy, 10 impossible) Step 3: How easy is it to record? Step 4: Forget the rest of the step, charge into it and see what happens Step X: Stonks (people still say stonks, right? idk lol)

Would love to see the post game using dittos, the bosses only get harder, but now that you're gaining okay stats, it'd be interesting to see if it's possible. I'd also love to see explorers of Sky with only ditto, that game and the post game of course. Really never feels like beating mystery dungeon until you beat the post game since it's so integral to the plot, and like, the start screen even has the bosses fill up. EITHER WAY, great video and I'll keep an eye out for more!

This is a pretty interesting format, a lot closer to older lets play style of content compared to what you see nowadays with highly edited scripted videos, without being as long to watch. As with most live recordings, its a little awkward at times, but it has a really nice charm and I really like it! Would love to see more.

Appreciate it! I hate to toot my horn, but I'm pretty good with both styles (scripted and non-scripted). Trying to find a style that fits me, and I tend to prefer the improv-y nature here as opposed to formal scripts when making the videos! Glad to see that it turned out decent!

weirdly enough, this is one of the few games in the series where i'd say beating the game with a ditto is not only possible but likely fairly easy as you have an insane amount of items and can attack with just spamming A

Oh yeah, with items, nearly every Pokemon is possible, it's just a matter of level weirdly enough, with the newer games having the a attack doing nothing, it might actually be harder in those games

Congratulations! I really liked the strategies you came up with for this challenge, instead of taking the easy route and just over leveling the two dittos. Also, question, how exactly did you replace the two starters with dittos? Like is there a specific cheat code or mod that you used?

Appreciate the kind words! It was both fun and frustrating, a healthy balance of the two lol I looked online for the cheat code to change the starters to whatever I wanted, and just made sure that I started the game with Ditto (I forget the exact timing, but if you're too late in changing, then it'll go with the starters that the quiz gave you and their stats + moves). From there, I had to use save states to make sure those game-breaking animations didn't ruin the run, since they softlocked the game. The changing to legit starters was to make sure those sequences had an animation to reference! Frequent saving is your friend lol

Definitly a different kind of challenge! Very cool! What I would recomment, if you continue to do challenges of the Same game, to cut out most of the plot and cutscenes, since they will drag out the length of the video. And I assume most of the people watching your videos will know about the Plot anyways. But I'm sure find a good workaround with these after a while :3 keep it up!

I've thought about it, honestly! I think the one potential downside with post game is just the amount of time it takes lol I'm also not sure how entertaining the video would be too, cause it'll be the same "transform, struggle, charge through the floors" for every dungeon. Yes and no? Using transform for the purposes of transform? Not really 😅 The struggle strat would be pretty effective at doing big damage if you prepare for it though. I haven't done a lot of deep diving into the specifics though, so maybe there could be a really good use?

You can either use action replay or Sky Editor. Both work. Action replay is probably more convenient if you're trying to do a playthrough like in the video.

I used action replay codes to change the starter & partner, and just kept flipping back and forth so that I could get past the cutscenes (like the glitchy ones) Agree with the above comment! Sky editor might be better for the Explorers of Sky game, I use it for those challenges!

umm why didn't you give half of the gravelerrocks to your teammate? so each turn your team gets 2 shots so in early game you would destroy low level pokemons dealing -40hp

It's a good strategy, and I did try this in some of the dungeons! Can't remember how often they were in the video though. Part of it was just resources, the partner would start chucking gravelrocks the moment an enemy showed up, and burn through them quicker than I wanted. Part of it was also time, cause if you're in a big room and the partner chucks a rock, it takes FOREVER XD Also just remembered - gravelrocks give less EXP, and at certain points, I just needed the meager level up bonus quickly. If you've got the time & resources though, it would work!
