well several story mode skills have trigger check rate manipulation as part of their effect, so some degree of bypassing the deck stack needed to be in the game's code anyway.

I honestly like that the Devs still worked under the limits of the rules. Sure Kanji always Checks but he can’t Check more than he has. Sure, you will never Check a Trigger but you do if they are the only things you can. The Fight is winnable because the AI still plays by the rules. Sure it’s a game that will almost never ever happen in real life but theoretically, it could.

Yeah it was weird, I don't remember how or why but I do remember consciously writing Melting Heart off for the first time I built the deck to fight Kanji! I'm just glad I realized how valuable the card was for the second go around lol!

But I didn't want to have too many cards that I would need to slap on board since I would definitely lose them to Favrneel. Although if I were to do this again I would probably replace Limone since it didn't feel like she did a lot in hindsight and Makarite could be a great replacement! I would need to be pretty cautious with soul though since I ran on empty in this fight lol

I do remember running 4 copies of a free imprison grade 2, let me check Found it, Cuff Spring. She's the common that makes opp imprison 1 draw 1 when placed on rear How about your grade 1 lineup? I run Chevelstud as a better deck filler at 3, I run 4 Riot Beeble who's a 20k shield on Purelight, 4 Surpress Gleamer which can filter herself when placed on rear from hand, maybe Shirer Zenith is a better replacement for Chevalstud for your soul issue? Before Riot Beeble I ran Tear Croca at 4 which gave me CB issues

@@Shuwa217 I don't super plan on doing the fight again since running it back wouldn't be too different I think (unless I could beat him with 0 damage or something crazy like that!) but cuff spring would be a pretty good option!! I don't know how good the draws from Cuff/Favrneel may or may not be since it would let Kanji have more normal units in hand to make a more menacing board, but maybe it could be really good with the 20k shield G1 you mentioned!! I can definitely say that the deck could be improved after I did that fight with it, cause a few of the cards didn't end up doing too much, so there's definitely some wiggle room for upgrades!

Calling this fight doable is an overstatement at least with the above deck. Its very RNG based, I just barely managed it after houses upon hours of attempts. What it comes down to is hoping for the right draws during the battle and hoping Kanji draws are of a certain kind. Firstly whether or not he removes from the prison comes down to whether his soul is enough so the fight REQUIRES you to get rid of his rank 0, and either retire or temporarily imprison his purple grade 1 card which he often uses for boosts later on, i prefer retire because hoo boy its bad if he gets it back later. Ultimately this means if you cant do the above its not likely you will win. You also cannot win if you dont go first, not enough chances to quickly imprison so the rank 2 or below perfect guard cant be used which is really bad. Kanji wont call from the prison if he has cards in his hand which are better or the same so it comes down to his hand too, based on repeated attempts I am pretty sure the game gives him a number of "Patterns" in his opening hand but the rest is probably RNG. Kanji wont ever draw triggers outside his drive and damage checks, so he will always draw some other useful cards. The triggers he draws are not random but always what he needs in a given moment: He has 7 critical triggers, 4 heal triggers and 4 draw triggers, aside from his overtrigger. Even if you ride the rank 4 you can't win without riding 2 times minimum, so if you lose 3 copies to damage or soul charge your fucked, if you lose too many defensive cards to yourself or damage your fucked. Again this is with this deck alone its very likely there are better methods with other cards, but prison is what i'd the call the bare mimimum

There's definitely improvements to be made on the build for sure, it was an early iteration of the idea, plus this video is like, over a year old. It only has access to the base card pool, so there's obviously WAY better stuff to use nowadays lmao And the fight definitely has some elements of rng to it, because going first is absolutely a huge advantage. But there is definitely less rng than you're making out to be. For example, guarding the G2 you can use the critical effect heals as well (because they activate from the Overtrigger) which gives you 25k shield to work with on that attack. So even if you don't have Deri Violet, you have 4 extra options in deck to help guard that attack Your goal is also to have as few rear guards as possible so that Kanji only gets the draw for turn to be a normal unit. By imprisoning and swinging at rear guards correctly, he can't draw enough normal units to sustain a proper board, so he will need to use resources and call from the prison. At which point, you may have the opportunity to push him a bit further If you play well then it's a super doable fight. Definitely takes a more intricate understanding of both decks and what the best route of progression is depending on how the situation develops though

@@vazis While I do see where you are coming from your kinda missing my point here, when you soul charge there is always a chance you will lose some valuable cards thats one bit of RNG. Your starting hand is another bit of RNG, your damage checks are another though thankfully the game likes to ensure its mostly perfect triggers or worse other valuable cards, this can be minimized by holding off the damage at 3 or 4 for a few turns, actually I'd argue you have to until you can start getting triggers. Your own drive checks are the real RNG imo, because you NEED certain cards at the right time and not taking up space in your hand early on which you need to survive his onslaught. This aside based on my tests I have also found he only guards with 1 specific card because of its skill until he is cornered. So I'd be curious to try decks which constantly stand the vanguard again to see how it shakes out, those decks would also get you to the triggers faster.

I don't think I'm missing the point, because I understand it well and full! However, I think you might be missing mine, as I'm saying that it isn't a notable concern outside of extreme cases. As long as you have the deck built properly and pilot it properly at least. Because there are several different cards that can help you advance to the later stages of the game, thereby forcing a moderate level of consistency due to the premise of the fight

So if someone were to buy the game from the Brazilian e-shop and download it onto their Switch, all of the other accounts (regardless of their language) can all play it in their native language! So it's just spending less for the same product! There is a video out by MeloettaMatt that explains it a bit further if you want to learn more about the process 👍

Yeah, Devs should have just worked out the max VP you can get for every fight after this fight and just given you the total amount if you could win and score an early game. Or it just turns off all your opponant’s D-Skills and any negatives from yours afterwards. Or both.

Very late to this, especially with the current packs out (which I didn’t buy at the time I came back to DD), the fight itself is very intense, especially when you’re a Magnolia deck pushed to 4 damage and always, always, always on the constant threat of 2 crit attacks. For 3. Whole. Turns… The fight itself was fun, though slightly hollow seeing as how my win con switch from dealing 6 damage to just straight up surviving till deck out with relent after relent AFTER RELENT attacks of 2 damage. This fight taught me a lot more than any of the other fights. I’ll want to do this fight again to give it another go and to list to his sweet banger track. I will also add, my funniest interaction with him is his D-skill activated, but I still managed to pull 2 triggers on a triple drive, 1st and 3rd. He already has a massive edge VS me using “Don’t hold back!” XD

I would like to make an update that as of May 10th 2024 at approximately 2:49 p.m. I after what more than likely was over 150+ battles not even counting the resets from rock-paper-scissors loss have finally defeated Kanji Meguro!! If somehow any other people come across this video and get the game for themselves please really ask yourself if you want to take on this challenge. Is grueling it is taxing and honestly it will take up a lot of your time time that could be spent doing other things unless you are persistent and Petty like myself. I don't ever want to have to do a fight like that ever again because between having to calculate every single move and shield I'm trying to figure out certain things about the AI while battling this is probably been the most hard-fought battle I've ever done in in my entirety of playing Vanguard and I hope to never do it again!! 😂🤣😅 I need a freaking 0.01% PlayStation trophy for this achievement.

Hummmm I have a question, so when Kanji only have two in deck wouldn't the uploader win if he called a rear-guard? If I am not wrong Favrneel must draw and put a card into the soul if he retired a unit.

Favrneel's card from hand to soul and draw ability is optional since the 'card from hand to soul' part is a cost! I think the ai tends to use the skill most times out of ten regardless, and as long as you have enough shield to block the rear guards then it doesn't really matter either way!

This game came out last November and it is available in the U.S.! You can get it digitally either on Steam or on the Switch! (But if you get it on the Switch I'd recommend getting it through a foreign e-shop like the Brazilian e-shop and then playing it on your other accounts since it costs less that way!)

Been trying your strat for like the hundred times and I still can win 😢 mine keeps on calling card out of prison all the times which makes the blitz order useless

There are some other cards you can run to help out if you want! For one, there's a G1 that is 20k shield while you're on the G4 which can help a ton! And you can switch Limone out for something more useful if that'd be helpful too. Other than that, going first was really huge for me since I was able to grab the starter and slow down how much Kanji could grab out of the prison, keeping to that and swinging to rear guards helped make it so they didn't have a lot of options to call stuff out, but you've probably already been doing that last part lol

@@vazis crazy And i feel like this one is even more broken than Vanguard EX Where 1 of the cheat like users used a multiple type of clan using superior ride? Vision token, and to topped it off with Asura But my friend said that he defeated it by burning the top deck of the opp’s deck with shout? So my conclusion is the deck had a set pattern where the 1st card of the top deck till the end will be the same Not like getting overwrite the topdeck like this one and even checking the OT during the very first turn? That’s rly amazing!

I don't know if there's anywhere with all of that at the moment, but what I did for this thumbnail is that I let Kanji hit my Vanguard (I think for 6 damage but I don't remember) and do his little scene so he popped up and I recorded it and just stole the frame! That should work with any character and their boss unit if that would help you out enough!!
