I just completed the extended attack mission yesterday finally with an A rating without skipping. These extended attack firefighting missions are super difficult to complete and they have to be one of the most, if not the most difficult mission types in career mode. The engines on the Viking are very sensitive to over-stress, and climbing off the water with 8000lbs in the water tanks is very difficult. You really need to keep the ITT in check and master the fully loaded water departure technique. I've found that you can choose to underfill the tanks (maybe half way) to make it easier to lift off the water. The takeoff technique requires 1 notch of flaps with the tanks full of water. In this particular mission i found that landing in the water heading south from the north was best to allow you to climb out

i think it's bettert not to grab more than 50% of a tank. Plus when you flying over the fire, you are losing your lift and stall speed increases, but your plane cannot see it. And that means you need to fly, over the fire with max speed. I didn't tried by my self so far, but i think this is how it should work.
