There are people on Gamefaqs that claimed it was still legit even after you admitted it was fake, claiming, "oh he's only faking it because he doesn't want to draw suspicion from the Nintendo Ninjas." And then even after this video was released, there is someone still claiming it was legit for the same reasons. Good job Jon! You were apparently so convincing that people will still bat that this account was real even after it's been outed (by the faker himself even) as a fake even with the mountain of evidence that supported that conclusion.

yeah exactly. it sucks with games, but with basically anything at all, people are SO QUICK to believe literally anything online because someone on twitter or tik tok simply says something. So many people are perpetually online and don't think twice about if something is real or not.

This exact type of fake account has been a plague on game speculation for a couple years now. Outlets fall for it and ruin discussion elsewhere after almost every Direct. Hopefully this video gains enough traction to stop them for good.

I'm just gonna come right out and say it - this account could have fooled me if I'd heard about it. I don't make a habit of following insider accounts or anything like that, but I'd never considered the possibility of guessing a whole bunch of stuff while private, then deleting incorrect guesses before going public. So thank you for shedding light on that practice!

There's a channel here on KZbin that uses basically the same trick to "predict" celebrity deaths. It's even easier 'cause you can make individual videos private, and then just un-private the ones that actually happen.

Jon, you sly, magnificent bastard. I think I only caught wind of this Twitter channel in very brief passing, but as someone who doesn't actively use Twitter, that's still pretty impressive. And it goes to show how easy it is to fake a bunch of predictions and appear credible by manipulating the posting date of messages (by hiding them for a time) along with other tricks like you did. By default I disbelieve "leaks", and this just reinforces that notion for me. And uhh, boy, I imagine that's a lot of fuel for people to clown on the news outlets that reported on this as being true...

Ahhhh.. I'm getting that feeling when the Rayman in Smash leak was debunked by the creator. But you never know about leaks, I remember the entirety of the 2017 Switch presentation being leaked and no one believed it when it was 100% true.
