good video its fun reading the comments - as coming from a bad gambling background can see way people think on here like I used think why bother trying to just make a few quid on a race - trading is the only way you can make long term profit and is sustainable and repeatable with not too much risk when you work out how many trading opportunities there are you only need to profit a small amount each race
@CaanBerryProTrader Жыл бұрын
Ye, fun is one angle! Frustrating is another... people don't seem to understand that this is low-risk and extremely repeatable, and possible on larger stakes. Especially once you know what you're doing! Sometimes there's no risk in certain trades at all. Mindset is a large part of it and it seems the masses would rather think successful gambling is being lucky on a 20 leg accumulator at horrifically bad bookmaker prices.

I've been betting on British horse racing for 8 years, but there's not much you can do from Spain. We have Bet365, which got much worse by not improving odds, and other Spanish bookmakers with infamous markets. I watch these videos with anger at not being able to have access to an exchange market in horse racing.

Hi Caan,if you have a lot of money on the lay side waiting to be matched does that mean that the price is likely to drift? And vice versa?

When you have backed at higher odds and the odds have dropped (shortened) since and you now want to lock in a profit, how do you decide how much to lay? Is there a formular for this (to which one has to strictly adhere to) or is it just a subjective decision, depending on how much of an arbitrage (with zero remaining exposure) and how much of a +EV value bet (with a certain amount of remaining exposure) the two bets are supposed to constitute?
@GrantStephenson-y7h9 ай бұрын
literally just cash out/trade out and betfair/smarkets will lay the right amount, no need to pull out a calculator such as an oddsmonkey calculator, unless you wanted to underlay, overlay etc but for a perfect balance then just hit cashout/trade out, obviously this can be automated if you have trading software, I started last year been very successfully, it's doable, I just manually trade though (swing trading)

They're pre race trades (website updates fairly slow). Nothing new agreed, been doing it so long now, it's a lot easier when you exactly why but totally get it's not that easy to get good at. Pre race liquidity is easy to close at? Yes of course, why would I stop? That would be daft.

Hi Caan. What % of these trades would you say are profitable? For those that swing against, do you always trade out pre-off or would you risk trying to get a shorter price in-play?
@CaanBerryProTrader Жыл бұрын
Yes you need to maintain the advantage you have - going inplay isn't part of it. % wise it's 90%+ markets are winners for me although there are multiple trades in a market. This video was just a super simple example with one clean entry and exit so all can understand. See the video in the description if you want to see a slightly more complex version, which is a lot closer to what it really means to trade a race professionally.

I'm pretty sure that anyone who bets on line, already knows about the 'cash out' option, and to make it worthwhile, you'd have to bet heavy every time to gain some sort of decent profit, you'd be better of just backing all the 2nd favs at a meeting and doubling up each time a bet went down, until you had a winner.
@CaanBerryProTrader Жыл бұрын
Interesting comment, Steve. It's not simply cash out, its trading with a reason. I don't think everyone knows because its reported that only 2% of exchange users pay the premium charge. You qualified for it? Your martingale strategy doesn't work, its a well documented route to the poor house. Appreciate the feedback thanks!

What's the point of all this just to win less than £20.
@CaanBerryProTrader Жыл бұрын
It's repeatable race after race, it's taking a punt like normal betting and adds up when you realise there are 20-70 races a day. Can make a lot more than £20 too - it's just a clear example with 1 entry and exit.
@timporter4008 Жыл бұрын
because slow and steady is way to become profitable with trading no get rich quick scheme like others will wish you to believe Caan knows lots of hard work and repeating day after day workout £20 pound a day translates to £140 quid a week when you know what you are doing not an exact science working out daily profit but its long term steady gains rather than betting where you lose - matched betting you cant do forever and value betting same will eventually get accounts closed
