can you do a pros and cons of doing FBM? I am thinking of holding on to some items and sending it from my place directly since it would make me more money. Thanks!
@ReezyResells3 жыл бұрын
Pros: You can sell it today and ship to customer ASAP, vs waiting on your FBA shipment to arrive and the price may go down. You can also easily return merchandise to stores if needed (not recommended) - You make a little more due to less fees, You have more control over returns and customer service Cons: more work, more space required, if you go on vacation you have to put your store on vacation as well or have late orders, potentially lower sales prices due to not being fba, less amazon fees, less sales volume

I literally don't know how you can make a living with FBA. There has to be some method I'm not aware of because after shipping and Amazon fees it's literally 50% of your profits. If I find a deal that's $20 then sell it on Amazon for $40 I'll only make $10 basically..
@OscarMartinez8173 жыл бұрын
You’re seeing it from a dollar perspective vs a % perspective. $10 profit from a $20 purchase is 50% roi which is really good. You flip that 50% roi multiple times then you’re 500%x roi after a certain point. You have to do this with 10s if not hundreds of items to make a living out of this.

Great info! When you calculate profit margin to decide if it's a good product to sell, do you take into account sales tax or just the product sticker price you bought from Costco?
@RichinZhills2 жыл бұрын
Maybe a caveat to this question, if you legally classify yourself as a reseller, you might be able to avoid sales tax. May actually depend on who's selling the product, don't expect everyone at a register to know how to do it. You may actually have to approach a manager with your reseller permit and have them ring the item up for you. As the seller, you're going to have to charge Sales Tax now, so another level of accounting you'll need to incorporate. But anything you do to cut down on your expenses means more money in your pocket. *This is just a FYI & not legal or accounting advice 😃

I didnt really look at it. in the grand scheme of things it doesnt matter. I understand what you’re doing and I feel it’s great. But I’m confused on the shipping with respect to the bar codes. I get amazon tells you where to send it but how do they know it’s yours to get to your account without changing the bar code on the items in the box.
@RichinZhills2 жыл бұрын
Taking a swing at this. I believe when you setup your sellers account, as part of that, you'll need to get your own personal barcode that identifies you & your store. Like a VIN# on a vehicle, it will identify you, the product you're selling, and possibly a few other items of interest. Once the shipment arrives, and here's only guessing, it gets scanned to show it arrived, then each item is removed from the box and given a new barcode. This one has a batch code, seller info, and where it's going to be stored in the warehouse. Amazon's system will then probably convey it to that bin/shelf for storage and update inventory. A very advanced warehouse would probably operate like either an egg farm or soda machine. When someone ordered that, one box would be ejected into a central conveyor, and the item would make its way down the belt, getting placed into an Amazon shipping box, taped up, new barcodes, and then that's out the door to the shipping truck. All without anyone touching the box after the initial unwrap.
