I see you still don't know how to handle vinyl records properly. NO FINGERS DIRECTLY ON THE GROOVES! All the oils and other grit on your fingers clog the grooves.

I'm betting his estimates are within about 10%. Some items will off, some higher, some will be lower, but he's probably pretty close when looking at a whole pallet. Sort of like the butcher after so much time can pick up a pound of hamburger and be almost on the nose every time.

The logistical issue of keeping track of each item and what it sold for from which pallet would be a pure nightmare. Not to mention that some of it may not sell for 6 months or more, especially if it’s seasonal items. It could take a year to get everything sold from one pallet, then track and total it. That’s a lot of work.
