I have the 6hp version. I’ve put over 100 hours on it in the past three months. Several pros and cons. Well worth the $600. Pro is starts every time and sips fuel. Con is fuel capacity and the max rpm is around 2500 and with a 1 to 1.5 gear drive it’s not gonna put any boat on plane. Lol I get just under 7mph on a 12’ v-hull with all my gear. And about the same speed with all my gear and 130lbs deer in the boat. I’m gonna get the 12hp 2 stroke soon.
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
Yeah those 6 Hp have got to be good for what ya need but I could see them not having enough capacity. That boat does good with that motor. That 12 will be fun.

Hi Derrik. It's a Tomking TK144FC. 1500 watts, 53.2 CC, 23 LBS. It's an entirely different company from similar Hangkai. A bunch of shared or standard parts, though. Very high quality castings. I filed and shimmed the flywheel key notch because ignition is way too far advanced. The centrifugal clutch springs are way too strong to troll. I can run above idle on 10 ounces of petrol or blast up to 30. Oil is 20W50 and prop gear oil is 85W140. It's quiet and very dependable. I don't leave gas in the tank. The aluminum propeller takes a hand finish and performs well above factory drag. The aluminum bore will last longer than a 2 cycle with pure oil. There's a 36 CC cousin and similar long shaft models. A plastic bucket boat slows it down a lot, but it's about smiles and fish. Don't get a liquid cooled, and especially avoid the 2 cycle models.
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
Wow that’s pretty sweet and A lot of technical knowledge into it. Thanks Willard!
@willarddevoe5893 Жыл бұрын
The flywheel comes off with two long 10MM X1.25 bolts. Slip something metal under the flywheel when you do. A tiny file trims the side of the keyway shaft so the flywheel falls behind and the ignition retards toward top dead center. You can check ignition with a timing light. Leave it a few degrees ahead at idle. Watch you don't lose the three cover collars on the splines.

Yo bro, this thing is loud. I bought a 2 stroke older 4 hp eveinrude motor for 100 $. It is twice as strong this hangkai motor and a lot quiter even being a 2 stroke. the guy who sold it said it never gave him any problems. I have a trolling motor for 40$ minn kota. Now, i assure you a proper outboard motor isn't this slow, and this loud. Now a slightly used new 4 stroke motor , i beleive you can find for by adding for another 700$ more on the chinese you bought, a honda, yamaha or suzuki would be a safer choice. Lot of people tell me these yamaha motors easily last 8 to 9 years. So for few hundred dollars why should i gamble. Secondly, resale value. You always get your money back.

@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
I love that little motor. It’s like having an 80 thrust trolling motor. It’s not that loud and runs great. You can tilt the back end and run it shallow if you have to. I’ve gone upstream in about 10 inches of water with it on the river in descent current. Does good on gas consumption too
@Kiddooski Жыл бұрын
@TBassFactory that's AWESOME! Based on that feedback, I'll totally grab one. I just moved right next to the Mississippi here in Illinois. My buddy gave me a sweet little 12 foot seaking v bottom. Been using a 47 trust trolling motor with her for about 2 hours at a time. It's a blast, but would live to have a bit more UMPFFFF when going back up river. I really appreciate ya brother. It's even better now that it's $250!!

How long will this Chinese outboard last? How many years would I get to use it before the leg or engine craps out? The outboard is just a gas driven trolling motor. It looks like no speed, no push if two were in the boat. Yes, the price is right, but will it last?
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
Almost all small gas engines are made in china anymore so they all about the same. As long as you change out the oil regularly these engines can last a long time.

It sure did. I can put the throttle at half and use the tilt in the motor and it will go upstream no problem through the current. So far I’ve done complete one day trips and gone miles on one tank of gas. That motor sips on fuel.
