Funny thing about the engine, it doesn't really change the outcome if you check it now or later. But I do get you point.

realy is so cheap that it dont even matter just take it out and rebuild it worst scenario is to look for a new one or maybe do a rotary engine on it that would be epic 😉😃😜😋👍👏🤜🤛👌✌

Definitely keep the low back seats, both sets need to be recovered, salvage the foam from your seats and get new covers, look up some bull nose players and it is a project you can handle. I had a 1972 Super Beatle they still have a soft spot in my heart too!!!

Been waiting for you to do a classic Beetle on your channel! Will be watching this one intently! Also, likely reason for the bondo repair on the quarter panel is from the rot due to the foam located in that area. I believe the foam was there from the factory to block fumes from the engine bay into the cabin. The foam would start to retain water, thus rusting the car from the inside out in those areas. If you want to be thorough, cut open the areas to see how well of a job they did, or I believe you can access it from the top corners of the engine bay. Good luck!

This car is a stunning classic that has endured for many years. Treat it with care so it may continue for another half-century. Make your contribution and become a chapter in its history. Who knows, fifty years from now, the equivalent of today's online car restoration enthusiasts might be showcasing segments from your videos and discussing your impact.

Man Zach I love the bug . I can’t wait to see all your progress on this build. The Beetle is my all time favorite car. My dad and I restored a 1971 beetle it had those low Bach seats. I think the car itself is in great condition to be saved . Normally I don’t like the lowered Beetles but who ever did that one did a great job on it. I really like it on the Beetle . Thank you for including us in this build. This one is right up my alley. Hope you have a great day.

The pans have been replaced for it to have those seat tracks. 73 and up had the large hump for the front seat mount. Not a big deal though, a lot has been replaced on that car for earlier model stuff. It’s a cool car and definitely savable. Glad you saved it.
@Djuztin3 күн бұрын
It even had the beautiful and quite rare chrome trim on the sides and (what look like) original white VW mudflaps. Sad to see it ended up like this. Always carry a fire extinguisher in mine. Also make sure to check the place where the frond hood rests closest to the front window since the hood is changed, mine's also got an older hood and has unfortunately started to rust there due to the rubber they put in themselves having been slightly misplaced and water getting stuck in there. Your example seems really savable! also, the brake and clutch pedal with the VW badge were a special option on some models. Mine's also got them. Cool to see another one with those!

I personally like the low back seats better. If you keep it the dark blue the white seats look good in there. If it can be saved please save it. Beetles are starting to become a rarity. At one time I owned 32 of them various years all at once😁Got it as package deal with a couple Karman Ghias. Probably the 62 I had was my favorite with the smaller lights.

I think that would be the perfect 80s build… Make it a custom hot rod-ish. Maybe make it a roadster, bright 80s colored paint with scallops sounds pretty fun and cool. I'm excited to see a Bettle rebuil;d series. Didn't realize you had such a history with Bettles beyond the 2 or 3 you had on the channel. I've always wondered what a Bettle would look like in the Mazda Artisan Red Premium or the Soul Red Crystal. Thought the curves on the body of the Bettle would bring out the highlights in the red.

It's mot just the fuel lines. The little brass tube that is staged into carb that the fuel line attaches to gets loose over the years. VERY LOOSE. One can sometimes pull them out easily with just pinching it in-between the fingers, worst case a pair of pliers. Remove it and put some gasoline impervious epoxy/adhesive on it and reinsert. Ask me how I know....owning aircooled veedubs in my youth made me carry an extinguisher in all my rides to this day.

I can guarantee that if you change your plug wires, fix the burnt electric wires and burnt plastics that car will definitely run. I really am sure the the engine was not damaged. I had 2 68s and a 72 type 3. One 68 has a fire because the battery under the seat made a spark that caused the seat to catch fire and the other 68 the gas line fell off the carburetor.
@QRMito5 күн бұрын
That fire could have been easily extinguished.
