I've spent around 15 years around the SEAT brand as an admin of an owners club, I've had two MK2 Leon's as well. That car is a MK2 Facelift model, it has a few "rare" extras on it such as the armrest and the door sill guards with "SEAT Sport" on them. In today's market worth 3k all day long with all the maintenance done. My old 2010 MK2 Cupra R had a dent on the door in that sport and the local guy managed to get it out.

I’d defo retail that for £3995 with the hope of getting between £3500-3900. It cleaned up really well and had a great spec. I reckon it would be gone in a few weeks. You’ve done as much as anyone should expect a used car dealer to do for that price: full MOT with no advisories, service including gearbox service (which I’ve never heard of a used car dealer EVER doing that voluntarily!) and dents repaired were possible. That should make somebody a really nice runaround. Let’s us know the outcome 👍🏻

Love this car, the colour on this one is also really nice. I have one from the same year, 2010. It's a 1.4TSI manual and it's running smoothly as ever. Bought it 3 years ago with 146.000km on the clock. Today it has 234.000km on the clock. I love driving this thing as you can see and living in the Netherlands we took it for a trip to Germany and France quite often. Serviced every 15.000km and it pays me back every time I'm taking it for a drive. The only complaint I would have is the interior of this generation has a lot of hard plastics. But other than that, loving it!

Had 177 000 km (about 110 000 miles) when I bought it, now it has almost 210 000 km (130 000 miles) and runs well so far with no problems at all. It's impressive how rust has become less and less of a concern in recent years. My cousin bought a 12 year old VW Golf III in 2008, and it was more rust than paint (not really, but it was very bad). Nowadays one can buy a 15 year old car and it's still in decent shape.

That 7 speed DSG has a dry clutch. Thus the clutch wear doesn’t contaminate the oil. It doesn’t need a service any more than any manual gearbox and in my experience they’re fairly reliable. The thing to watch out for is the clutch, because it’s right at the torque limit with the 1.6 tdi. I’d be careful if it’s a car with this drivetrain + a tow bar and/or a remap

In this case, you've totally transformed the car & given that it's 12 yrs old, it looks great. These type of automatics are, I think, quite rare & given that I have at least 3 friends who couldn't pass their test in a manual but managed to do so in an automatic, there could be a market for this vehicle out there. Great video as always Matt :) Leon has scrubbed up well and nice colour too :) I used to have an A3 as a Company car with that same drive train (1.6 TDi & DQ 200 7 speed dry clutch DSG) It got driven fairly hard for 4 years / 100k and never has any issues with the box at all. I have same gearbox now in my Mk 3 Leon 1.8 Petrol and also fine but only 12k on that car so far. Its not the strongest DSG as someone already said and its torque limited to 250NM so only ever goes in the VAG cars with engines under 2 litres. From doing my own research I found 2 common failure points mentioned a lot, mechatronics unit failure & clutch packs wearing out, the latter of course will depend on how its been driven, i.e. letting car creep with foot half on brake will cause clutch wear on these gearboxes as they use a more traditional style clutch and not a torque converter, so maybe confirm costs with your gearbox people and weight it up from there based on worse case scenario....

I did the god awful thing of replacing it with a HS096 (non start stop battery) the function still works. I'll update if this becomes an issue. Its a dream to drive, I have replaced discs and pads all round (once) and I have had at least 8 tyres on it, from budget to mid range. I serviced the car yearly until I moved locally and only done so every two years. The cutch is defo on its way out (original clutch and fly wheel) and I have had the timing belt and water pump done with all the bearing fitments required. I have also replaced wheel bearings on all four corners. That is it. For me, a car I bought at 44K miles, to only need that work doing is good. I drive reasonably sensibly. I get, without trying 40-50 MPG on motorways and 25-30 MPG in town. Mine is a manual (if you'd couldn't tell) and I paid 6k at 44K miles). Oh, road tax is £20 for the year and insurance for me (33 year old male, had my license since 2009, zero claims and zero points) its £180 fully comp for the year, living in Perth, Scotland.

I had an se copa 2010 with a stage 1 map on it and was a beautiful car and also had a pfl 2.0 bkd dsg and I beat on it daily and never ever had an dsg problem super strong gearbox and it had over 204k miles on it. Only serviced every 4000 miles. Mk2 have their issues (door locks leak water electrical issues there’s a list) but for a grand that’s a steel. No worth 4 maybe 3 tops when you can get an Fr for 3.5.

Consider doing a video on retailing used cars in England. Here in the US a used car is taxed on the total sale price, most states vary but 500 miles or 15 days is the minimum warranty some dealers give more and there are aftermarket warranty companies but their coverage only kicks in after the dealers warranty expires. You mention MOT while some states here have a safety inspection, some have emissions and some have both however with dealer plates we can test drive anything even if safety or emissions is expired. Now most states have basic requirements like good tires and working lights and speedometer some states really don't enforce it. Also discuss what shop labor rates are, it seems your shop labor is cheap here in the US labor is $100-150/hr

I,d retail it , as it will make an ideal family runabout for £2,500-£2,750. Its news to me that second hand car dealers now have to give guarantees on gear boxes, especially semi automatic ones. Back in the day you,d get a sour bowl of plums if the gearbox went pear shaped under 3 months down the line from any car dealer.

I'm probably a bit OCD'ish, but I hate shiny stearingwheels. It takes about 10 minutes to wipe it of with some cleaner and a magic sponge and finish it of with some leatherbalm. That and dirty chrome exhaustpipes makes my brain overheating.

Nice Golfs these, it should be easily retailed with today's market trends. What I never got with Seat is what exactly was/is VW group thinking; Skoda = 'cheap' VW (although they messed that up too), Audi = premium VW,.. Seat is supposed to be the 'youthful', in-between-VW and Skoda option but since they already overlap like 90%, is it worth holding up a whole car lineup just for the Spanish market...🙄

Easily worth 3k. My mum has a 61 plate FR+ and doesn’t have heated seats. Unfortunately unknown to me she hasn’t serviced it in about 5 years done very little millage but I had no idea so I took the car and did a huge service myself. Shame really as she had the car from new and just didn’t care for maintenance. Also I think this one has adaptive bi xenons so that’s an awesome spec car you’ve got there!

Yeah great car, it’s funny these 1.6 cars all sound the same they always seem to have a bit of an engine whine, and they always turn over a bit more than youd expect when starting from cold. Good cars, service them and use premium fuel every once in a while and they should serve you well

Great content as usual only thing I disagree with is budget tyres if your not doing performance speeds and the state of the current roads set of 4 budgets £170/200 fitted just replace again once down to 3mm or 2mm I buy budgets and get good wear out of them instead of a mid range but no issues on spending on full service every 10k

Great videos Matt keep it up. Those leons where a great car in their day. General rule of thumb on DSGs any of the lower powered cars will always use this the 7-speed dry gearbox. These are the ones that can be jerky and give issues. In fact they dont even have a service interval. VW will tell you they are sealed for life. The 6 speed wet clutch (which is what you would find in the 2.0 diesel) is a much more robust unit. They have a service interval of every 40k.

Yaa that's the trouble with the DQ200, I wonder if it's cuz it's dry clutch, that's the reason VW doesn't want the oil changed cuz essentially it's a manual box with dry clutches and a mechatronic computer unit to control it and I don't hear manual gearbox oils being changed often do u
