I Bought A Fake Chanel Perfume So You Don’t Have To

I bought a fake Chanel Allure pure Parfum box set that allegedly came from duty free. In this video I offer tips to avoid purchasing fake perfumes plus show you how to spot the signs it’s a fake. This one was pretty obvious and I’m sure there are much better fakes out there so be vigilant! I forgot to mention I got a full refund very quickly after messaging the seller.

About me - I'm Claire and I live in the UK. My taste in perfumes is usually quite sweet but not too sweet, I love white florals but not tuberose so much. I like gourmands as long as they smell like perfumes still, I require my perfumes to change a little bit as I wear them ie not linear. I don't enjoy oud, leather, cumin, saffron or strong patchouli however there can be occasions where I do like perfumes with these notes if they are not too dominant. I enjoy most florals as long as they are backed up with something sweet or perhaps resins / insense. I tend to not enjoy anything very soapy. I also don't really enjoy very green fragrances. I am averse to overdoses of ambroxan and iso E super (timbersilk or similar) just because I find it annoying! I have no problem with synthetics in perfumery but I do enjoy perfumes that have some notes that at least smell like they could be from nature. My favourite type of perfumery is indie and I love Francesca Bianchi, Teone Reinthal, 4160 Tuesdays and Papillon Artisan Perfumes.

Just to clarify one detail, in the video I say my authentic bottle of Coco Mad Intense has a sticker on the bottom. This is not correct the information is actually etched on the bottom and should be on all Chanels so it’s a good way to know if you have a fake.

Hi Claire. I am so glad that you got your refund. A couple of years ago I ordered from a recognized online store and when I compared it to the same perfume at CVS I noticed that the logo was different but more profesionally stamped on,, just as when an important company does its perfume taking care of all the details. Then I checked my other perfume from the same site and saw that the smell was different, with much alcohol in it. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get a refund. That is why I am a little picky in buying online, and I choose certain sellers or read the feedbacks.

Thanks Jimbo, I think it’s these larger popular brands that are most faked and need a bit of scrutiny but in many years of buying 2nd hand perfume there’s only been 2 fakes, both of which were from EBay and refunded quickly.

The Allure and Allure Sensual (EDPs & EDTs) come in a different bottle. While that "looks" like a typical Chanel bottle (Coco, Chanel no 9, Coco Mademoiselle etc etc), it's not the right bottle for Allure. You could probably jump on Chanel's website and look at what the real bottle looks like!!

I love EBay it’s the source of all things weird and wonderful, I’ve found absolute unicorns on there so I really recommend dipping your toe in.

In fact, I thought once I bought a perfume off ebay which was off. It was vintage Chanel no 5 edt, it was a few years ago.. Now I wish I let it settle a bit after the journey. But I was petrified that it hardly smelt of anything and to avoid any more stressing/guessing about it, I got in touch with the seller and luckily she was happy to take it back.

I've never bought anything on ebay but indeed this bottle looked suspicious 😅 Glad you can get a refund. Usually I pay with PayPal and they can also provide a refund when there are some trouble with your order.

Yes luckily both offer good protection which is why I sometimes take a chance.
