That was a bold move to throw power to the car after a saltwater flood. Generally the only way you can save the electronics and modules on such a car is to pull them, dry them out, and clean them with alcohol or electronics cleaner. Saltwater causes corrosion and shorts that start some real problems when power goes through them again.

I've had a salt flooded vehicle from the auction once, and never wanted another one again. Luckily it wasn't a high end sports car but nevertheless I had to swap all the wiring, computers, sensors in the engine bay, on the engine, etc, because every wire connection was corroded. I really hope Chris fixes this car because it would really be a heart break if it can't be saved. GL

On a deep saltwater flood your best bet would have been 1. Drain the motor/trans/differentials and flush oil/trans fluid/diesel through everything you can through the plugs, flood it from the oil cap add some heet to get rid of residual water. 2.Remove all major electronics and ultrasonic clean in isopropyl alcohol re apply thermal grease and clean all connection on wiring. DO Not attempt to power it on you can short things that might not have been shorted. 3. Since you likely disassembled the whole car to get to the electronics and wiring you might as well clean and de salt(vinegar is your friend here) everything you can.

Have you guys heard of a thing called a dehumidifier? Since you don't need to get it working right away, the best thing to do would be to put that car in a temperature controlled storage unit and put a dehumidifier in the car and maybe one in the trunk. At least that would reduce the risk of shorts when applying power. You could leave it in storage and check it every so often to see if any progress is made.

If you want to save a car from flood there is only one thing you can do and the process is exactly the same for every car. You have to strip the interior completely, wash whole interior outside the car otherwise there will be mold. Second thing is you have to remove every electronic module from car and wash it, preferably in ultrasonic cleaner and clean literally every connector in the car with connector cleaning spray. Then you have to remove engine, do the same thing with engine, check all the seals on the whole drivetrain, flush all fluids few times to make sure there no water. It would be also good to replace wheel bearing and every other bearing on the suspension. And then you should wash the whole body of the car. Even insides of closed profiles along with every part from the car. And then you can drive it and it should break all the time. If you don't do this like that, car like Bentley will be gone in a year. In the best case scenario you will have problems with electronics and mold. In worst case scenario whole drive train will be wrecked, all the bearings in the suspension like wheel bearings won't exist at this point and this car will be sold for parts

I used to work in marine repair and had to deal with salt-water damage a lot. If you havn't already- look into a product called Salt-Away. You can use that to clean connectors etc. If it we're me I would be trying to find every connector in the wiring harnesses, de-salt-ing them and then spraying with WD40 or some di-electric grease or something similar. This will at least eliminate voltage bleed and stray signals and should greatly help with diagnosis.

Not trying to be the pessimist I love your channel and watch almost every episode that comes out. But I wish you luck with a saltwater flood because the problem isn't corroded connectors it goes deeper to inside the wiring. When submerged water seeps into the casing on the wires but the problem isn't the water it is the salt that comes with it. The salt leftover after it dries causes further corrosion and shorts. Now with that said I have worked on the insurance industry for 12 years. Insurance companies will total cars because they were in the vicinity of possible saltwater. I'd say 75/25 chance of brackish/salt water vs fresh water.

Piece of advice, those motors for all doors, windows, seats, vents etc. they are all mostly repairable. And they are most likely Bosch made. So you don't have to buy them crazy expensive from dealer or hunting for them on eBay (it is Bentley). Out of all my flooded vehicles I could not repair only one motor on Yukon. I fixed every single motor myself, saved a lot of time and money. It is basically cleaning job. Taking apart, cleaning put back together. !!!!!!! DO NOT CUT THEM!!!!!!. He knows another dealer that tried to sell a flood car and didn't tell the customer that it was, and he got caught and has to serve prison time for that HUGE mistake. I would think even parting one of these things out you'd have to also mention it was a flood car part. Word to the wise, don't buy flood cars, that moniker will stay with it. Now, if you're just playing around with it and you have no intention of selling it or any parts from it without full disclosure, then maybe that's fine, but I would touch these things.

This is why salt water flood vehicles usually have a Parts Title - everything is corroded and they are near impossible to resurrect as a working vehicle again. Best idea to get your money back is to part it out.

Unless you are ready to install all new electrical everything you purchased a parts car in my opinion, that interior will smell so bad once it starts getting warmer.

My face when they started cutting :( I bet that W12 engine makes a nice desk :) Even I you just wanted the drivetrain for a swap you still need all the electronics working... Saltwater is also way harder to deal with than cleaner rainwater, maybe that Portland rain cleans some off. The intakes standing full of saltwater is like worstcasescenario...

B is for Back in time camera quality. Feels like I'm watching videos from 2010. Enjoy the content, just so hard to watch coming from crisp 4k videos to this.

I would have bought that for the engine alone. That things motor would make an AWESOME rat-rod engine! Break it down, sell the parts, junk the chassis. For the engine I would go aftermarket fuel injection and ignition; With open headers on a rat-rod this thing would raise the hairs on the back of your neck at full throttle! GREAT video!

applying power to it just yet is not a good idea. Id fill the engine with vinigar and let it sit overnight to kill any rust in it. and turn it over by hand - drain out the oil before filling it, then flush the oil with deisel, then crank it wo the plugs in - apply power to the starter not with the keys. to build oil pressure and blow out the moisture. get it in a garage With a dehumidifier going. If that was fresh water, it would be better than sal water damage. But in the bright side you can always Ls swap it.

Can we get a short Elenore update? I know you mentioned it briefly in a post somewhere but I would love to hear what the plan moving forward is. What are the Helicki people obligated to do for you? Will you have to sue them to get reasonably compensated? What would that even look like? Getting the car's value back is only a small part of what a video series means to a KZbin creator.

We had similar situation with a Lancer, nut sure if this is applicable here. The way that we opened the car was by passing power via the alternator.

Watch JR Go had a Bentley and struggled mightily with it and finally had to throw in the towel and it had not been flooded with salt water. I will support your bad ideas, and wish you good luck but I'll be shaking my head. Those things have more batteries, relays and computers than the last three cars I have owned!
