I KNEW IT!!! That house looked so familiar!! This game actually belong to a series, and is the direct continuation of "Summer of '58". Every game is a short horror game more on the veins of walking simulators, with with some good scares and tense environment.

I loved that movement in the window at the start Super, super subtle that loads of people could have missed. I love subtle horrors. Jump scares and being chased by creatures with teeth longer than your fingers serves a purpose to give you a fright and get your heart pumping, but really subtle horrors - brief shadows out the corner of your eye, knocks and thumps in the distance, constantly hearing breathing just behind you - then let your brain, which knows your fears better than you do, fill in the blanks. I dunno how many games have had me on edge, wondering where it’s going to lead me, only to be chased by some stupid looking bugger with 1 eye, 3 arseholes and horns and it catches you because you’re too busy pishing yourself laughing You’d think with horror being so popular, there’d be an absolute banger somewhere but they all follow the same idea What the makers of jumps scare games fail to realise is there’s a huge difference between getting a fright and being frightened and there’s a huge difference between being frightened and being scared. All of that being said, I shat a brick at the end of the demo

A dream catcher is from native america. They are used to prevent nightmares from happening. The lore behind them is that good dreams will flow through the center and the bad dreams will be caught in the net. It's like a spider web for bad dreams.

Maybe there was so much pain and suffering in this house's history, that so many bad dreams were caught by the dreamcatchers that it corrupted them and spread to the whole house, causing these events. Or the house has its own "spirit", and the negative energy has overwhelmed, but not destroyed it, and the dreamcatchers are a visual representation of it attempting to reassert control from the bad dreams. Or there's some other spirit at work to capture all the bad dreams. There are too many combinations to go through here.

The quote at 5:30 "We the unwilling trained by the unskilled to do the impossible for the ungrateful" reminds me of "We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful" from Konstantin Jireček. But I think in this game, it refers to the one of those Zippo lighters which were sold claiming to be from the Vietnam war. That was later proved to be a fake and was mass produced to sell to the tourists. Mother Teresa also said something very similar "We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful".

I just bought the 16 acres surrounding my home. It came with three dilapidated mobile homes. I’m not even gonna give fixing them up a try. I’m selling the ones that can be fixed for whatever someone will give me, up to and including just get it off my land and you’ll get it for free. The last one is so far gone that it needs to be torn down. Buying myself a tractor with a backhoe and knocking it down myself. Tossing all the toxic stuff and the mountains of trash in dumpsters and burning all the wood, then giving the frame away to a scrapper. I’m not giving the ghosts of any meth-head squatters a chance to soil my drawers!

This game reminded me a little of a game I played when I was younger that terrified me: Scratches Director's Cut. It's a point and click horror game about a guy who inherits this mansion that has a dark past. He goes there to find inspiration for a novel he's writing.

I think it's going to be similar to the game "Summer of '58". It's not an actual haunting, the Doctor in that article might have been driving the people who came to him insane in order to get funding/something a bit more sinister as an excuse to torture people, and the "ghosts" are the survivors. The woman raving about eating children, thinking she's a witch... IDK if you found it, but there's another article about the local town/whatever celebrating the anniversary of when the last of the "Witches" in the area was executed. Might have been some inspiration for the guy, and she's just looping through what he made her say.

Oh man.. right when you opened the door, I got a sudden sinking feeling because the decrepit walls and ceiling gave me a sudden rush of memory from "My house walk-through" japenese horror short video. I don't get scared that much since playing scary games a lot over the last couple years, but that video was HORRIBLY unsettling and really stuck with me. The sensation was instant, and because it had just happened and I hadn't recovered yet, the way you suddenly stopped for the MANSCAPED ad it jolted me, lol. And then the banality of the ad brought me right back down, haha.
