Please remember do not use the 6x6, In Low, in reverse. It will blow your T case to bits. Read the tags. if possible find an owners and operator Manuel’s. The 5 tons have famous issues with the fuel lines getting air and pre filter under drivers step. They sound bad ass straight piped also. Tactical repair on YT has some good videos Also the air brake pull out switch on the far right hand of dash is NOT a E brake. It actually the opposite. And when you turn it off shut bottem switch off first. Could run the possibility of burning up the alternator.

I remember my M936A2 at Bragg having a 20,000 lbs. front winch, 35,000 lbs. rear winch and 20,000 lbs. crane, crane only rotated 270 degrees. Throttle lock was for operating the Crane and rear winch. My truck New (refurbished) came with 2 extra 20T snatch blocks and one 40T. The mouting bracket in the cab was part of the radio mount in the cab. Be careful with putting the truck in reverse with the transfer case in Low Range, some of the trucks in my battalion blew up their T-Case, I had no issues, but also didn't drive it like I stloe it when doing so. Look for an electric feed pump dropped into the top of the fuel tank. T-Handle on the front of the hood is for raising the hood and should be a latch on the front bumper to hook the T-Handle on. I definitely liked my first wrecker, M816A1 with Big Cam Cummins and 5 speed.

Have to say as a rust belt heavy mechanic. Anything with much thread sticking out needs not only p-oil but also a fine wire brush. Otherwise you go thru loads of batteries and impacts that grenade. But regardless love this chanel!

@Braden with the lugs, get rid of using that long extension, it kills the torque. Use the smallest one possible or get yourself a 3/4in breaker bar that's 40in. You'll break those lugs loose every time. That Milwaukee with the new forge High output battery will also help. If you have questions feel free to reply to me, I do not mind shooting ideas back n forth and you're still learning so don't listen to ppl that talk down on you, you did good in the video!! Also pick yourself up a bead breaker from HF. They're about $100 but work great for that.

Congratulations on your M936A2! Thanks for the follow up on the M37. So you are building a new engine for it as well? Will be very excited to see the M37 running and all the new tires on your truck. What tire tool pry bars were you using? I need to know as i have 3 o-ring seals to replace soon. You give me hope for the younger generation. Keep up the great work. Keep posting videos especially on the military vehicles. Thanks.

I recently got lucky and found the first tow truck I ever worked at the age of 16! It's a 1976 Dodge D 300 I started driving it in 1979! For someone other than my dad's and uncles logging company! I learned at the age of 9 to drive a twin stick! Started doing recoveries at 12 years old on the private logging roads!

Hey man sending love from ft Campbell I know I recognized that area😂. That Hopkinsville harbor freight has some good pneumatic impacts. The thing with these trucks is emptying out the air tanks when we go to drive them on base we have to empty the tanks so they don’t corrode. The thing with the impact I would like to see is if you could modify the air tanks on the truck to be able to hook up a line for the impact since it self fills the tanks when there low just a thought. Congrats on the truck 🎉

I would say a 3/4" Milwaukee impact. The half inch is ok for most people, but you're not most people. That thing is a beast ! I change heavy equipment tires daily, and I have nothing bad to say about it. Before the Milwaukee, I was using a 3/4" Ingersoll rand air impact at 130 psi.

Also just a little hint these trucks have an ether button in them as they are almost always started on the bottle. Should you want to avoid that then I’d suggest an electric lift pump. Also holding the exhaust closed with a binder or clipboard will help it start 10x easier. Just make sure to hold tight and release some pressure around every 8th-9th rollover sound.

I worked at a truck garage and there was an 65YO old scrappy dude that did roadside service on the trucks. He used dirt shovels to maneuver the tires into place on the axles. You NEED a 3/4 or 1" air gun with impact sockets up to 2" [or more] with you at all times. It would suck if your 1/2" can't do the job. Also jumbo wrenches. Farm jack and 2 scissor jacks will be handy in the future.

I would get at least a 3/4 or maybe a 1 inch air impact wrench to Tee off of that glad hand coupler hose. Air would be as good as or better than a battery impact. I can almost guarantee that if that’s an early 90s truck it’s got 115 thousand miles more than likely! They didn’t completely phase it out until a little around 2010, if not a little longer at training bases. Looks like you got a good deal there! Remember to bleed the air lines or that tank will gain moisture. Maybe some of the reason it’s taking so long on start up to fill.

Or am I missing something? Looking forward to seeing what you do with that thing. Oh and for your garage wall, just get a second 2x4 and nail it or screw it to the one there.
