Like 6 months ago I got my red 3ds xl for really cheap because almost everything was broken and in general it looked like it was ran over by a car. So I bought a bunch of spare parts, fixed and modded it myself and now it’s like my baby

You mentioned that your old 3DS has a yellow screen. You can change it in Luma; just press (L+Dow Pad+Select) and then “screen filter” to “default temperature.” You may have changed that as an accident because the screen isn’t supposed to look like that

I also got a New 3DS (Black Super Mario Edition)! And luckily my seller had one brand new/mint condition. For an excellent price on eBay for $400 compared to the $700-$1000 from other sellers. I’ve seen enough unboxing videos to confirm that it was brand new/mint condition. So I’m extremely happy to finally have one brand new ☺️ gonna mod it like my New 3DS LL from Japan and my 2DS & New 2DS XL

I have a number of 3ds's and my favorite is the New 3ds. I loved how the New 3ds XL was faster for the later Pokémon games but I always found it a bit too big. Was upset that I wasn't able to get the New 3ds Black Friday Mario one but I did overpay years later and I love. It's also modded but unfortunately the screw is also stripped. I'm just thinking about using blunt force to pop the bottom off to get to my SD because I need access to it. Glad you're enjoying yours and hope too can be able to mod it soon.

Jailbreak your 3DS and you can have 300 games installed for free.

You might wanna try a tiny dab of super glue on the tip of a throwaway screwdriver to get the screw out, be careful of course as too much would cause a bigger problem, but that should just let you take it out, those screws are super short so they should only require 2 or so turns. They're also luckily attached to the face plate so after getting it off once i'd just get some other face plates so you have nice screws again. You could also try a small flathead with some pressure, in general philips drivers tend to strip screws very easily, real headache when it happens, the rubber band technique has also never worked for me so i usually just use some glue or when worst comes to worst, drill it out.

i got my first 3DS in October/November, didn't grew up with em. so worth it, esp after modding it. my go-tos are all the Mario Karts it can run (so every one up to 7 except for N64, Gamecube, Wii), New Leaf and a bunch of the Zeldas. ive been meaning to expand what games i play on it but don't know how to find recommendations that are even a bit niche and arent just the standardised top 10 every youtuber rattles off with fire emblem and whatever. and ive been thinking about stickers but i cant find a store here that sells interesting ones

I have the same model as you. The small white New 3ds. It is great! Lots of games with good graphics, high quality audio, and nice battery life. Try to change the SD card and you'll have a better experience installing cias.

Since that stripped screw is squared off. You could probably unscrew it with a small Robertson screwdriver or even a small Torx, they're also good at biting into some stripped screw heads. I have that same 3ds and still use it all the time.

Ds games being blurry is becuase of the bilinier filter nintendo applies when upscaling the image for the screen. You can install twilight menu and uncheck the bilinier filter. And yes it works with r4 too it saves the settings on both of them

The 2DS XL feel cheaper. The screens backlignt bleed through the plastic shell because it's too thin (it also does on the new 3DS bottom screen on the left side, at least it does on my system). BUT, it is a 2017 system with 2017 technology and the screens are WAY closer to the lenses, it is not laminated level, but it is very close. And this makes the screen more vivid, brighter and they keep their brightness a lot better when seen at an angle. On my new 3DS, the screen are so back into the chassis, they don't look as good. And it's not a matter of one screen being more damaged than the other. My 2DS XL is pristine, i bought it brand new in 2020 and the top screen is spotless. My new 3DS is used but i replaced the bottom digitizer and the top lens, both are brand new and pristine. I think the 2DS XL screens are the most pleasant to look at, but yeah everything else is cheaper.

A buddy of mine gave me his 3ds xl when he got a switch but I prefer emulation in my steam deck oled in general due to upscaling and shaders. I'm thinking about getting a smaller emulation handheld or a modded gba though.

it is very sad that many online features like the nintendo eshop have been discontinued i agree, and online play is shutting down this month as well, but i wanted to let you know that streetpass is NOT an online feature! it's a local feature and happens when you walk by someone else's 3ds locally! that isn't and shouldn't be shut down, so go out there and walk around with your 3ds to help people like me receive streetpasses in 2024!

Little tip. In the settings of the 3DS only on New models you can remotely access the contents of your microSD by going to the storage management setting! This just makes accessing your files much easier, but of course is limited by the slow transfer rate you get with the Internet on the 3DS. Although great for smaller files or to start modding it :)

@@RowndletOh another tip. The bottom plate screws are replaceable. There is a metallic washer on the bottom side that you can easily slide off the screw that allows you to take the screw fully out so you can replace it with another one from a cheap replacement bottom plate so you can keep the OEM plate.

I’d say you could use a small flat head screw driver to grip onto the remaining indents and apply good pressure with it on a soft surface so you can get the screw out. Make sure the flat head you use is wide enough to firmly grip onto the indents though otherwise it’ll strip even more

I've got the purple and silver New 2DSXL, and even if I could have gotten the New 3DS/XL for the same price I'd have still picked the 2DSXL just for the ease of access to the SD card, and the protection the little flap provides to keep dust and anything else from getting into the system. I know everyone says it feels cheap, but the buttons and D-pad feel fine to me, and better than my old SNES controllers (not based on nostalgia, I just tested it now). Maybe it's because I grew up with that level of quality (NES, SNES, N64, og Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Advance SP, & DS Lite) it just feels like Nintendo to me, but I'll admit it definitely doesn't feel "premium." Also, it just fits my hands really well without being too heavy to hold for prolonged use, which helps to not aggravate my chronic pain. My only minor nitpick is that the screen is a bit wobbly, but it also feels exactly how my old DS Lite felt when one of the hinges broke, so it's a weird bit of nostalgia in a way. Anyway, good luck with the stripped screw!

That’s the same exact reason I got my 3ds. xD That and its small form factor, colourful buttons, pastel white (??). Everything about it is so nice. Kind of nervous about modding it, but it’s in Japanese and I kinda told myself I was gonna learn Japanese to use it xD it’s been several years, I just wanna use it for games now 😂

Once you’ve modded your system for the first time you can move files between your 3ds and PC using an application on the universal updater called FTPD. You still have to remove the card for the initial mod but after that you’re set.

I recently got a N3DSLL* to replace my O2DS because I wanted a bigger screen. I then modded it, SOAP transfered it and I was able to play online a month before the servers shut down. I recently gave a try at Minecraft and Runbow since they were both N3DS exclusives. I don't regret it. *Japanese variant, but why not a US variant? Too expensive.

I actually used to have a 3DS XL Yoshi Special Edition back in 2015 I think and I recently got the same console which was software bricked. Lucky for me, I had my OG 3DS XL nand backup when the first jailbreak was released and I managed to restore it with a special flashing device which made the job easier since the special edition 3DS XL I bought was not jailbroken and while I wanted to put the special socket on one chip, I discovered that the battery was swollen but I had my favorite battery from a brand called Cellonic which was smaller since it was for 3DS and not the 3DS XL but I put it into the console, I put a cap from my flash drive into the console and it was holding the smaller battery in place. However, I'm still searching a New 3DS XL since it has faster download speed and I used to borrow it from my friend since he had two of them for two separate Pokemon Editions which were almost the same but those had different special pokemons XD I have the Switch v1 which I jailbroken and also a OLED Switch for online games like Animal Crossing and Pokemon but I still love to carry my 3DS XL with me since it fits in my pocket and since I owned it for the last 3 weeks, I got 42 street passes and I also street passed the same person 3 times while walking to work after leaving my car in a workshop to get it's radiator replaced. When it comes to the online services, I have a very good information for you and also a bad one. There is something like Pretendo Network and it was working for me in the paid early access trail I got after donating 20$ but the bad thing is that you need jailbreak on your console :P The funniest thing is that it also works for Wii U but like with my Wii, I'm too stupid to jailbreak my Wii U and I just got annoyed and put it back on my shelf XD Btw. If you get a replacement battery for your console from brands like iFixit, uGreen, Cellonic, always make sure to fully discharge it completly, charge it back to 100% and do this process 3-5times to reach the advertised capacity

Hey, this video was recommended to me and definitely agree with you on a lot of things like the XL resolution making the DS games stretched out and blurry. I have a 2DS, New 2DS XL (Pikachu), and a New 3DS XL (Pikachu). I mostly play on the 2DS because it feels very comfortable and the screen resolution is just right. Also. you did a system transfer to the New 3DS and it unmodded it? I would like to unmod one of them and want to know if this is another solution

I don't know WHY I never bought Wii, Wii-U, DS, 3DS or anything between Gamecube and Switch. It's weird. I LIKE Nintendo. I TRUST their quality. I had the SNES and NES growing up, I had Gamecube, so I'm not sure why I forgot about Nintendo for a while. Well, I guess I was of that age in the 2000s where I was thinking of NIntendo as being for "casuals" and little kids. So I owned PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and now PS5. Why? Because it had FInal Fantasy, mainly, is the honest reason, but it also had other RPGs I liked, it had God of War, it had retro PS1 titles and so on. So I started mainly being a Sony guy for a while and I think ALSO because I really didn't get the Wii as a system - I HATED the idea of having to wave around a controller - sounded exhausting and uncomfortable to someone used to just holding the controller. I also was into having the best graphics, had never bought a handheld before - I have fairly big hands and tiny handhelds feel uncomfortable to play for long. It wasn't until I got a SWITCH that I realized how nice a well-done handheld could be. It's STILL got uncomfortable little controllers, but when I moved to another continent and no longer had a TV suddenly these last few years, I suddenly saw the usefulness of the Switch. That, and it's easy to take into another room and game if I don't want my wife to know I'm gaming - she judges me. But now, I kind of wish I had the space and money to collect the Nintendo systems I missed along the way.

I have the original 3 ds,2ds xl and tye new 3ds xl .i like using the original 3ds as i feeel its got a bwtter screen resolution.

You can setup a 3ds with no internet right also when she mentioned the eShop and online being shut down for that reason why bother getting a 3ds can't you use the 3ds offline and also you can get 3ds games by buying them physically
