4:20 that’s being super generous. The Vita lacked internal storage at launch, and used proprietary memory instead of Micro SD. Internationally the largest was 32 GB, and the 64 GB were prone to failure. The price was a major factor to its failure in device adoption, and super glad we got these newer adapters to have Micro SD back again

I have began using my 2014 Slim which is in mint condition and barely used for movies and TV shows. It’s not jail broken but I have loaded up my 16gb card with lots of media. I am surprised how good the battery is - I can play up to 6 hours of videos per charge.

Monster Hunter Frontier online is a good reason to play a Vita, imo. Simpsons Hit and Run and GTA San Andreas are some of the great homebrew ports available also.

As much as I love the Switch and Steam Deck, fact of the matter is, they can be overbearing when travelling due to their size (even bigger in a case). The Steam Deck without the case is a whopping 700 grams. Sure, you can detach the Joy Cons, but the Vita's ergonomics and compact build is just so good for long commutes/travel times. Just slip it in your backpack and you're good to go. The Vita is honestly now my go to portable device alongside the Ipad, while the Switch and Steam Deck are essentially fulltime home devices.

Ironically, Sony gave up on the Vita due to the rise of mobile gaming back in 2012, but now people are actively hunting for Vitas for AAA quality games like gravity rush, killzone, resistance, uncharted golden abyss, as mobile gaming seems less appealing, with so many gacha/pay-to-win games dominating the scene, no AAA quality games. Made them to have confidence back to release new portable console soon. I bought a used PS Vita Slim in blue, in 99% like-new condition, along with 9 cartridges at CeX. It feels so much better, and there’s no hassle with setup, everything is optimized. Using the camera and back touch panel on the actual console is a much better experience

I looked on ebay and I found quite a few japanese import games for $10-$40 but proprietary memory is another issue because for a 32 GB vita memory card runs you $40-$60 itself so the start up cost for the vita increases majorly if you dont want to hack it.

PS VITA saved my mental health and that's no lie. I bought it in late 2019 and shortly after COVID-19 came along, wrecking my finances and almost driving me a little 'crazy', the only thing that can entertain me during the pandemic is my PS VITA. Two years later, the pandemic is over and I got a job, a happy ending! I love my PS VITA so much, I won't sell it even though many of my friends are interested in buying my PS VITA lol

I still have my hacked vita I used it for years but honestly it’s time has come to an end for me and I don’t think it makes sense to buy one anymore considering you can buy newer emulation devices like I recently did at a similar price that are more powerful. My new retroid pocket 4 is running ps2 and GameCube titles flawlessly, which for my vita was not a possibility… unless you just happen to have one already laying around I’d advise against buying one in 2024 for emulation

@@EXcloudywolf hmm... my retroid is android based so i dont see why i couldn't if i wanted but i've never tried video but i see your point, everyone has something they prioritize more than others! for me I really wanted something that could go up to the ps2/gamecube generation so I had to find a device that could accommodate that, but don't get me wrong the vita will always have a special place in my heart, as well as the psp!!! I will never forget either of those great handhelds

I'm glad I stumbled across this video. It's funny that I have two Nintendo Switch consols now and I have had my PS Vita since the day it was first released. And I will never ever get rid of it. I may not play it much but it is in GREAT condition because I just take care of my stuff, but I won't sell it or get rid of it. Such an awesome device. Well I mentioned the Nintendo Switches because as far as handheld devices that I own, one would think that because I have two of these things, it would defeat the any reason for playing the Vita, but there is just something about the Vita. Besides the games I do have for it are awesome, and besides although I love the Switch and the larger screen, the Vita is really in a different category so the smaller size makes it even more portable. Anyways, I may have to look into jailbreaking it to do more fun things with it!

@@EXcloudywolf I refurbish them so they go out as close to new as possible. I have a Crystal Black USA PCH-1101 right now that is going to be up for sale soon. Thats the 3G model so it can take a PSVSD. I havnt put one in it but if I do the price will go up a good bit. For now it has an sd2vita, but I just installed a new screen, battery and shell and carefully transferred the orginal labels to the new shell. The PSVSD with the Extension Cable is $60 shipped so if I add that it would probably be around 350.

I got the same exact blue Vita you have there and also with a 512GB card in it. :-) Mine is basically only for gaming and I have an insane amount of retro emulators and ROMs on it. I end up playing more retro stuff on it than even VIta, PSP, or PS1 games, which is what is obviously excels at. heh And yeah... all of those are retro now too. lol Love my Vita and I use it daily. One of the best gaming devices I ever bought.

Unlike with the 3DS, the PlayStation store is still available, if really difficult to access through normal means. Fact that they removed the ability to add money directly to the system sucks.

Well, you can actually still buy them at some stores. I know some GameStop still carry VITA games. You can also buy them online. But keep in mind, buying online will cause you to run into VERY high prices for physical VITA games.

Well, that's a personal opinion! The 1000/original has an amazing OLED screen! But I have heard of it having some GPU crash issues. The model I have is the 2000, and I have YET to have any real issues! I love it!

Honestly, how many GB is a very personal question! I chose 512GB because I wanted to have a fair amount of movies/tvs and games. However, retro games aren't TOO heavy in size(about 1gb each if it's PS1or PSP) but movies and T shows can be A LOT of GB so that's why I got 512gb!

I wanted to ensure the VITA I bought worked properly before spending extra money on my 512GB! I'm sure you can buy a VITA "ready to go" with a hack and jailbroken already done! But I recommend doing it yourself! It's fairly easy and it's always good to learn this kinda stuff on your own! But that is just my opinion, friend!

I'd recommend a PC or a console. I'm not a fan of large handhelds. Rather play today's games on a PC/console with a controller.

used switch lite is the best your going to get on a budget. If you wanna play modern stuff i would use cloud gaming service on your phone alot of handhelds nowdays arent able to fit in your pocket or have a horrible battery life.

PSVita sucks, I am glad I sold mine Worst handheld ever Besides some nice games like Soul Sacrifice and Killzone this thing sucks in many aspects

Waste of money? Hmm, pretty sure you can waste money other ways. There are some good games but jailbreaking and hacking are the reasons to get the PS VITA
