Many years ago my wife bought one. The front seat/floor comes out as one unit to service the drive line and many chains. It had a 7hp pull start but the gas tank was a round gas can that sat next to the engine. It floated very well and would climb right out of creeks. Each wheel has an over torque clutch to prevent chain breakage. If I remember right the “ hydraulic fluid “ was just atf. Very fun toy. It has two drain plugs in the back might want to check before swimming. Love the channel!!

Man, haven't seen one of these since about 1990. A friend had one, it actually floated really well too. He used it for duck/goose hunting in the swamps. It had paddle tires on it and basically would go easily through anything. Nice find!

There was a kids show I loved back in the late 60's that used those things. I think the show was called The Banana Splits. Anybody else remember it or am I going senile?! Anyway, another great find. You have got quite a retirement fund growing right there.

Truth. Draining wasn't it's main function though. It was a 'tickler' to let air out and fuel into a carb that was empty.

Man I tell ya these Briggs and stratton engines are the best the last 25 years or so I've owned them I never really had a problem with them and they last a long time I've got a lawn mower with a briggs on it and it's over 20 years old and it still runs great and never had to do a thing to it except oil changes and I got it for free from someone who neglected it badly and that was over 12 years ago.

Ya know, if you take apart that jumper box. On the circuit board you'll find a blk cylindrical thingy about the diameter of a finger, its the piezo buzzer, it'll have a small hole in the top that a small piece of ordinary scotch tape will reduce the volume of annoyance by about 50%.

You need to run the directional treads backwards so they scoup the water. Look at the argos. I had a Prarie Bobcat that had terra tires. I thought they were on the wrong way untill i tried swiming in my pond. Barely moved forwards so after about 15 feet in i shifted into reverse and it shot backwards. So back to the shop to swap the tires backwards. It would then swim surprisingly well considering it was an all metal tank like hull and quite heavy.

BTW, several have commented remembering the Banana Splits' Banana Buggies. You don't have one of those. The Banana Buggies were decorated Amphi-Cats. ...But in any of these old AATVs, because the tires WERE their suspensions, the tires had to be run as soft as possible. The originals had comparatively thin cases and their inflation pressures were virtually impossible to measure with a tire gauge. ...About 1-2 psi, but they were actually checked by measuring their circumference with a tape. Even as a 70 pound kid, I remember getting a kick out of the fact that I could put my foot on one of those tires (when properly inflated) and squash it almost to its internal (6" dia?) rim flange. 😂

Our shipments would come into a town called chotaeu it's hydraulic base the steering so series of cables that Clint lock off from the hydraulic unit to lock each side, one to drive the other one to pivot it came with a 12 hp Tecumseh four stroke the only two colors we got with the coot was yellow and red. The coot came in two greens, one red and one yellow. The coot was really something special as well. It had a high range in the low range. The low range was 16 to one gear. Racial leaves to drive it up to the edge of a concrete building under its own power drive it to where it was completely vertical before flipping under its own poweras a demonstration

That's not a Briggs & Stratton engine. It's a Tecumseh, most likely a 12 horsepower HH-120 but possibly a 10 horsepower HH-100. Either way, they have an Ezee-Start compression release that operates at cranking RPM, so you're not seeing all the compression the engine makes when it's running. These cast iron engines were more often used in garden tractors and, properly maintained, they last for a very long time. ...And they're rebuildable, although parts are harder to find than they used to be, as Tecumseh folded quite a few years ago now. (The aftermarket is slowly tooling up to meet the need. The ability to get new parts is very hit or miss.) I doubt the one in this scrambler has many hours on it though, ...at least not compared to the hours garden tractors rack up on 'em. Good luck with everything!
@DoJoRa3
@DoJoRa3 7 ай бұрын
I've been writing this while watching, and now that you're sticking your hands in there to remove the carb, the engine looks like it might be a smaller Tecumseh. ...Or you have big arms and hands. Haha! I guess I can't tell for sure, but I still suspect it's one of the larger engines. FWIW, the 5 - 7 hp H- series engines look the same, but are smaller and made of aluminum. Not as durable, but yours sounds good whichever it is. The little ones also have compression releases. Be sure to keep the oil topped up. Check it every time. This is important in these Tecumsehs because they didn't have much oil capacity to begin with, and it's even more important in anything you're going to drive on slopes. ;)
