Great! I think they're videos that need to be made, cause new tech is very expensive, but often far better than midrange stuff even a year or two on...so natuawpeople want to know about refurb sellers...

I like the video but I find it really funny that you mainly graded the gaming laptop based off of how it looked and how heafty it is and not in the fps difference or anything like that, I'm not being sarcastic just the way you rip it the whole video is hilarious

Hi there, thanks for watching! That was very much intentional, I feel that when i'm reviewing refurbished tech, i'm mostly reviewing the experience of purchasing it, the condition it arrived in, and the value it offers (especially compared to new). And, in general that there should be less focus on an in-depth technical review, cause it's already been done by others a couple of years ago, when the tech was new...

You are not really comparing like with like here except in terms of cost at a particular time. While the Honor slim mid price will play some games, like most of the type and spec, it is not really designed with gamers in mind. The Honor is not able to be maintained by amateurs and cannot be upgraded. In contrast, ASUS machines retain access and aspects can be upgraded, as well as tweaked and optimized. Usually ASUS machines have quite good speakers but when a product is designated as a 'gaming computer' it is assumed that headphones or decent speakers will be used. In the same way, it is assumed that players will use a mouse or some other attached control device, making a "good" touch pad into a courtesy rather than a necessity. There is, outside Apple, no such thing as a good touch pad anyway and the things are seldom used in any professional context. The sheer power of gaming machines of some antiquity can be useful in actual jobs of work and can be good value, especially as they are better cooled than modern laptops. Manufacturers appreciate that the passtime of 'gaming' is popular and has produced a lucrative industry in its own right. My view is that it kills brain cells and numbs the senses but what do we psychologists know?

Sorry, not really, many items on backmarket don't have more stock... It just depends what the refurbished happen to have at any one point... This wasn't the only good value one I've seen, but decent gaming laptop deals are a little sparse on the UK version of backmarket, I think you'll probably have more luck if you're in the US from what I've observed...

I don't really know the market well enough, but as a general rule I'd tend not to go for anything more than about 3 to 4 years old in the refurbished world, cause of battery degradation (which is never much good on gaming laptops, at the best of times) and probably you want the gtx 1660 at the very least if you're gaming. If not you've got many more options... Including older refurbished macbooks, that said, they seem to be particularly bad value even compared to other refurbished apple products...
