Love the L322. Had a 09 Tdv8 put 125k on it and in 6 yr only had an alternator fail. Also Had a 2012 Tdv8 for 10 yrs and had larger 4.4 Tdv8 and had 2 failures only in 10 yr. Starter motor and rotary gear selector. All repairs to above less than A 1200 us dollars equivalent. Not bad for 215k miles combined excluding annual service charges and tyres. The L322 is a good car. I know you have problems with gas engines in USA with timing chain guides etc but the 3.6 and 4.4 tdv8 diesels from Ford were awesome in UK and Europe.

My son bought a 2012 Range Rover with 55K miles less than a year ago. Pristine condition and my favorite of the RR model years. Fortunately, it came with an extended warranty which has already been used twice. Most recent was the center screen going black and an astounding $6K bill to replace and make the repair. Good luck! (you'll need it) PS: Another gremlin was the hood latch. If the sensor reads it as not being closed, the engine won't start. A bad sensor/connection will therefore disable the car.

No chance! Even brand new RR have terrible reliability. Stay far away unless you like trouble

I’ve owned two L322’s - both from brand new - first was a 2003 SE TD6, awful wheezy BMW 3.0ltr straight 6 but the rest of the car was just fantastic and certainly didn’t feel like the lowest spec car in the range, it was superb Offroad too. My next one was a 2010 “Vogue” spec 3.6ltr TDv8 in Stornaway Gray with Parchment interior. The Range Rover I Had prior to it was a TDv8 Sport………. A fantastic car with the engine that the Sport should have had from day 1 but compared to the FFRR L322 well, the TDv8 didn’t have any brakes after the Sport with huge Brembos, also the Sport had way better handling but slightly harder air springs. L322 is a lovely car and you were lucky to find one in unmolested condition because I can tell you there are some severely abused, unloved, unserviced L322’s here in Scotland. I think L322’s had the best aircon/ climate control system of any car built, I’ve had RRS’s since and their climate control was nowhere near as good as the old L322’s but probably a lot less expensive to fix too! PLEASE don’t fit coil suspension to it and don’t do what is common here on the petrols and convert it to LPG.

A beautiful truck at a very low price. You know what you face. I hope you get it to where it does not drive you insane. I am guessing you will be deleting alot of the computer suspension wiz bangs and going for a much more mechanical, durable set up. Like Larry said, the 'bones' of this truck are solid.

I bought a used Range Rover 2 years ago. Everything is great! I only had to work on it for couple of times. Well it did cost me twice the actual value of the car. Had to take out a second mortgage on the house. My wife and children left me for that one and i lost the house so now i live paycheck by paycheck in a small rental apartment but hey i still have the Range Rover! And i just need to save up just a little bit more in order to finally be able to replace the air suspension. I found a pair of second hand shocks for only 2500$. A bargain! Then just a couple of other things to fix and she will be perfect!

Congrats & safe travels. Do you have a code reader? We have a 2004, L322, 226k mi, original owners. My LR indy repair shop did not want to tackle a suspension fault last yr. I bought a car soft code reader and was able to diagnose/ repair my issue, which ended up being the steering angle sensor tab had broken.

I bought several cars out of state. No issue. Some dealers will also take care of your local taxes some may not if you pay cash. Still no big deal

When you buy out of state, it is easy to register in your state. Your local DMV will make sure that you pay your sales tax when you buy it! The minor problem might be lack of license plates when you are driving back home.
