How do you get on with your newer traffic?

Hi there. Didn't catch your name sorry. I agree with you about being outdoor. There's nothing better I bought a Renault trafic 2019 lwb premier edition last Yr & converted it. Agree lwb is far superior. It's my car as well as Campervan. And never have any problem with parking. Like so many say. Hard to park. We've been caravanning on seasonal pitch in Biggin nr hartsholme for 12yrs. But my wife sadly passed away 2 yrs ago. So bought van & converted it. I'm 78 & it has helped me immensely. But I haven't put sink or hob in my van. Enjoy cooking outside

Hi David, a pleasure to speak with you - So sorry to hear about the loss of your wife - but so encouraged to hear how this van continues to give you pleasure! I have genuinely found mine a gamechanger, so we are happy to be without sink & hob too! So glad to hear someone else agree! Take a look at my next trip out, and you can see my (functional but not pretty!!) units are now installed!! Thanks again David for your comments - Much respect and all the best from Adam

Oooooh Renee,Adam this is fantastic news, can’t wait to see what adventures come from this. My wife and I are heading down this very route but will have to wait a little longer for our van. Good luck with it mate. Bryn

Ha Ha... 'Good Moaning...' Keep forgetting about the allo allo references! Funnily enough on a Renault Trafic group I have joined, someone sent me a picture of their camper, called Yvette which made me laugh!! Thanks Bryn, let me know when you get yours! All the best - Adam 😀

Welcome to the club mate I've been bigging up van ownership since the 90s. Mine is a commercial vehicle used for my work doing deliveries, but i can go into campervan mode anytime i like. You made a very good point in that film, we all own this stuff anyway, the cookers, water bottles, wind up recharge lanterns and what not. So why spend 30/40K on a VW? OK they look super cool, i'l give em that. I'll warn you now, you will have to get tough with yourself, you can be 2 hours into a hike and it pisses down with rain. Pretty good chance you will say 'balls to this i'm going back to my van'. One top tip you might not of thought of, if you go to a site that has electric hook up and you fancy a bit of full on luxury? You will probably find you run a cable between your 2 back doors and still close both doors properly. Most van double doors will have the space to allow this. So, i'll expect to see a film of you on the NC500 sometime in the next year? Its the law once you own a van mate. its gotta be done.

Gary - Thanks for your enthusiasm! Not that I needed any more! Yes, I am so chuffed, even in the brief time I have had it, just going on short runs to local reservoirs & lookout points, it has a whole new dimension being able to open the double doors and enjoy the views from my bed with a brew!! The NC500 route is a map that has been on my wall for the past 3 years - so indeed, it is the law, and thy will be done... amongst a lot of other mileage! I am still tinkering around in the back, making a couple of units and bits & pieces, (which will be uploaded soon of course!) and cannot wait to get out on a few over nighters very soon. Thanks again mate - Adam

Great van Adam, I'm sure you will have some awesome adventures. Unless you are thinking full conversion, I'd probably go with the portable power solution as it would have many uses beyond being in the van. I believe for many you can also get solar panels.

Thanks Chris, after much deliberation, that is exactly what I went for! Will upload details in the not to distant future on the next upload - appreciate your comments - thank you 😄

We've had a number of vans since the 1980s. We've hired them in Australia, New Zealand and California. The present one is a Mazda Bongo. All I'd say is minimal is best on balance. Technology is great until it goes wrong. I've witnessed people parked up in fantastic places watching Eastenders on tv in a van and wondered what's the point ? If you've enjoyed tent camping then maybe you don't need all the accessories that can come with a van. Also if your van isn't obviously a camper then you can park up in so many places. We've slept in industrial estates, on residential streets, hidden behind artics in lorry parks. It just means you can pull over when you've had enough of, say, long journeys up to Scotland. Then again, you can't drive it along the Pennine Way.

Joe - Thanks for your words. Indeed I agree, a bit like glamping, with all mod cons on board, it does kind of detract from that feeling of freedom, and breaking the cycle of everyday life... and Yes I am very excited at the opportunities my metal tent will give me. And it's exactly that, a bed on wheels. This is never going to be one of those Hilton en suites, offering luxury home from home. But with that said, I am really enjoying (attempting) to knock together a few units, and incorporate some kind of work space, making it as practical as possible. And I do look forward to clocking up the mileage and just getting out there. Oh and you are right of course. The Pennine Way. I will return one day... when the van ownership novelty wears off... so it might be a while. ATB - Adam 😜
