Love your T-shirt. Would love to see you find a unit that could afford you the time to get to all your projects. As a shelter dog mom I thank you. Not a boom, not a bust, but good content. My thought was some family was trying to see if they could get rid of a child’s excess amount of toys, out of sight out of mind, and when they weren’t missed they let them go.

I think you are right they took out what they wanted and just live the rest. You should be able to get your $20 back by the toys and books taking them to the flea market and I love the fact that you donate the blankets and towels to the animal shelters they are needing those items all the time. I'm sure there was alot more stuff in that big of shed. They took out what they needed, wanted & could stuff in their car & left the rest. You should be able to recoup your $20 with toys & fluffing & deodorizing the plushies. It's a $20 adventure that's fun to check out & you never know....... Thanks for taking us along.

The unit could have been worse - the garbage bags could have been filled with actual trash. I've heard horror stories on some units where the garbage bags had nothing but actual garbage in them - used paper plates, boxes of opened food, broken tiles. It was a mess!

Like you said, Renée: twenty bucks is not breaking the bank, and for that price it was a very limited risk. It´s a little mystery to me why these folks stored stuff like this in a storage locker. Sometimes I think that storage was for a limited amount of time, like perhaps a move, and when the owners come back to retrieve their items, they either don't have enough room for things or just don't want to bring it back. So, not needing a unit anymore and not intending to pay rent, they just leave it there. I have a smaller size SUV like vehicle and everything in this unit, which really wasn't a lot, fit in my back seat & trunk. I could have sqeezed in a few more bags or a few boxes, but anyone with a smaller car could not have moved this in one trip. One thinks a 5x5 unit wouldn't take up that much space in a car, but one can really fit lots in there! It was a hot but pleasant afternoon here, a nice breeze blowing - perfect beach weather! (Of course, I'm not at the beach haha). Hope you have a great Saturday!

@@theresaknapp3767 The market I sell at is more of a vintage/antique flea market. The towels would just sit there, unless they would be vintage beach towels with neat graphics on them. I receive so many comments on how animal shelters can use used towels, so that's where they will be going.

We have women’s shelters here and if you aren’t selling the toys that may be a good place to donate them. Some victim services will take clean stuffies and they are given to children who find themselves in their care. At least everything looks clean and no nasty surprises. Thanks for the video Renae.

I would suggest you try the $200-400 range, especially if you could get Taco Stacks to go halves. You are a bit more likely to find really good stuff, and you can usually break even if you don't.

I don't know the first thing about any of the stuff that you found - but I'm glad you'll see a modest profit. Plus it keeps you off the streets, right? I can't imagine spending $2K on a unit but then I'm not in the business. It seems wise to treat these like a casino - walk in with a fixed amount of money to spend and never wager more than you're prepared to lose. You really do seem to attract electronic beeping - smoke alarms, trucks backing up, storage unit alarms. I actually didn't notice it until your note. But - that's life. Yesterday I want to and estate sale and accidentally dropped this hideous ceramic rabbit vegetable dish and broke the top. So I bought it ($8.50). It went back together OK but apparently I missed. a piece. I'm thinking of going back today to see if I can find it. Somehow I feel I owe it to the rabbit. Clearly something is wrong with me. The best thing was after I checked out, though, an elderly lady standing near me said, in a strong southern accent (think Dolly Parton), "Oh, honey, I'm so sorry about your pig." So at least you didn't end up with a ceramic rabbit with lettuce leaves for ears, carrots for front feet and eggplants for back feet! Hoe your items sell well! (Was that backpack with the cougar a Slazenger (sp?) - the tennis brand?). Have a great Saturday & thanks for the video! By the way - I don't buy a lot of cloth but is there any concern about washing that stuff in your personal washer & dryer? Should I take those things to a laundromat in case they are somehow infested? Thanks!

For storage units, I would make the trip to a laundromat and wash there. I also would suggest trying to see the "big picture" of the unit and its' cleanliness or lack thereof. If there would have been bags of half-opened food items, any rodent droppings, and foul smells, taking a quick peek at the linens/clothing can give you an idea if it's even worth donating. Some items have such a strong stench and you can just see that they have been in that unit marinating for quite some time, unfortunately it's best to just throw away. Now at estate sales, it's usually easy to see how a person lived and items like linens and shirts I would wash in my home washing machine. Your lettuce rabbit sounds like quite the little dish! I can somewhat picture it in my head. I would have purchased it as well after breaking it, even though it was an accident. Good thing it wasn't an $80 or $800 dish! On a different note, the weather is looking good for the flea market tomorrow so I am going with high hopes! Hope your weekend is going well!

Looks interesting, as long as there are no mysterious knocks on the INSIDE of that locked door!! None of my favorite creature! That's half the fun...now a stash of boxed Lionel Trains would be earth shattering. This find actually happened to a buddy of mine years ago...it was a stuffed basement...most was junk, till he got to the remaining dusty boxes...buried under the trash...and zingo...the train stuff saw the light of day...some of these items ended up in my collection, as he was not a train buff...being I helped him on some large jobs. I got the Lionels for a bargain basement price!! He since passed away, but I have his legacy in the form of these fine toys!!

There are a few showing up, however the contents are mostly stuff from the 70s to 2000s...very boring (to me). One was quite bizarre, a collection of South American Ceremonial Masks...close to a hundred of them, plus several carved "fertility statues"...the place looked like a sacrificial den! I did not go, but saw the place on line. I'm sure your next "mystery unit" will make up for this lukewarm one!

I'd be willing to spend more money at in-person storage auctions, where you can really get a good look at what is in a unit, use a bright flashlight, and shine it on/inside/around objects versus attempting to zoom in on online storage auction pictures and hope that there isn't a couch or a stack of mattresses hiding behind boxes!

I think perhaps the former owner removed what they wanted and then just left the unwanted items or what wouldn't fit in their car. The toys can go in a box and I'll sell them, or even give a few away to some kids that are shopping the market.

Hey Renee. That was fun. Getting a unit for $20 bocksis a steal. When you said someone got a unit for $2000 bock's. One thing I remembered was a person did get a unit for that much money and wished to God they hadn't. That storage unit was nothing but trash and they lost their money on it. But there was something in the unit that cost a $1000 bock's but still lost his money. You did okay Renee. You can sell the toys, and the shoes 👟 that you found can be donated for kids with just one leg. I hope next time the unit you get has a lot of treasures. The peg's, I mean the one's with the candy. Great gamble ❤ it didn't strike gold but cheap and not to much work or trash . I bought one recently for 130 and everything was trash ,unit had leaked ruining everything and leaving lots of garbage but a cheap Bluetooth speaker I use everyday to hopefully recoop my money with music 😂😂 good thing my last 3 units all 10 × 16 for $20 $30 and $40 where great ,I could say one triple and 2 homeruns 🎉 hopefully the next one for you and me are grandslams 😅

i have a feeling that the child was either taken away or had passed away, and that stuff was was a reminder or the hurt/loss so the left it. the pillows can also be donated to the animal shelter for the cats. people think of the dogs, but seldom the cats or other animals. the one "rhino" was a green dino.

For a cheap unit, you really are only "losing" your time to clean it out. I bought a unit last year that looked like used kids toys and a highchair from the photos... behind all of that were a few boxes of military gear and brand-new, still with tags, dress uniforms. I think I bought that unit for $10 and made a great profit!

That shop in Palmerton is closing and I believe a tattoo parlor is replacing it. He always played Christmas music outside his shop during the holidays. Believe he was in business for close to 50 years. Have a box full of Yellowstone trip memorabilia that was left at a municipal building outside of a cardboard recycle chute. Perhaps a relative did not have the heart to chuck it. I picked it up, have not totally looked at it yet but the couple was married 60 years@ . I at one time bought an abandoned storage unit with I think it was around 9 my little ponies. They ranged in date from 1985-1989. Most were 1987. They were NOT in the best of shape though. I still managed to get between $10-$15 dollars a piece !

That was an experience for you if nothing else! That was interesting on two levels! One of them is obvious. The second is not so obvious cuz it shocking that you do not follow the criteria of experienced storage buyers/youtubers like What the Hales & Storage Auction Pirate! They have done very well! If you follow their criteria then you will be taking less of a risk! It makes logical sense! Does it not?

We have sold some My Little Pony stuff pretty well There are a group of grown men, “Bronies” that are Really into my little pony and certain ones are more desirable then others of course Whole another world out there😉😃 The one shoe made me think about the women’s single shoes you found that time in the curbside trash bags I have been to a couple storage unit sales and I know people that had done well at them …not for me I want to examine what I buy What do the people see that spends $2,000 on a unit?

For the $2,000 unit, they saw a stack of Nike sneaker boxes right in the front corner of a unit. I think one box was opened and it did contain sneakers, but that's a decent chunk of change to hope that the other boxes contained sneakers. If they did, they made the right gamble, if they didn't... lots of stuff to sell before even $2,000 back. I've heard about the Bronies - I think they even have conventions!
