Wasn't this the house with all the free alcohol in the "kitchen-floor-cubby"? Idk what to call those things as I'm an USAian and we really do not have a word for those unique, handy storage places as they aren't a "thing" in this country.

idk why this video made me emotional. this was someone's life. to see what they collected and what they thought were treasures. I'm glad you went through it and ended up keeping a lot, so it didn't just end up in the garbage.
@Patronulum

I feel exactly the same. Although we don't know the story behind the previous owners or why the house went up for sale, I wouldn't have been able to go through someone's old house with that kind of enthusiasm. I wonder why they left these things. Was it really garbage? Especially seeing things unused that has been kept for a long time really breaks my heart.

Same! I kept thinking, what kind of person lived here, what kind of life did they have, what is the story behind each of these items? It's a strange feeling.

@@Patronulum yes and I wouldn't been so keen to see if there's money in everything. but I don't hold it against them. maybe they just didn't think about it in the moment. but I hope in hindsight, they're like "I'm grateful to the previous owner" for the house, for the items, where ever the previous owner might be.

For the stamp I found some info it's part of a few series of two stamps by the poet Basho Matsuo. Issued on: 1987-02-26. This serie was featuring Waterfall (Kegon Falls) and Haiku ("Sunlight", Toshu Shrine) (if you search" "Sunlight", Toshu Shrine stamp" it's the one they have).

Yeah those "Fancy Rabbit" painted plates and stuff could be worth A LOT of money depending... Looks like they were well cared for, so could be collectors items. My family have found lots of those sorts of dishes in our thrift stores and about half turn out to be actually quite valuable. In Japan, that may be even more likely - just make sure you check markets OUTSIDE of Japan, as sometimes these things are more common in Japan (as people take such good care there).

I moved a lot growing up. Small moves like down the hall in an apartment building, and once we moved out of a house and back. When we moved back we found a box WE had previously accidently left in the garage rafters when we moved out 4 years prior. One move when my husband was in the military we found an entire cupboard the movers had forgotten about. Fortunately we found it before we actually left so were able to get it packed. The kitchen feels like it was just a whole room that was forgotten about with all the nice things they found.

I was hoping you two would pick this place! I love going through old left behind belongings. The landlord of the neighborhood where I grew up, bought a house down the street that the previous owner, who was a hoarder, had left full of stuffs. My dad's an electrician and was doing the updating and called me over to go through to find anything I wanted to keep. I filled his work van to the brim. I found folding lounge chairs, old army foot locker, Yamaha organ, the old owners diary with entries back in the 80's, his poleroid photo album from the 80's - some of topless women holding a snake. Lots of random stuffs, my dad took the tools. The house was remodeled into an apartment building. It's haunted now.

Would be so cool if you displayed the artwork and cool vintage pieces found in the house once you renovate it! :)

Awesome Vlog. You 2 get a new house project and its a time capsule loaded with all kinds of History from decades ago. I really like these elbow grease adventures you take on.

This was house hunters and storage wars in one episode. I love it! I love that Sharla was looking for money but Ushka was prepared to uncover a murder 😂

oooooooooooo thank you for taking us along as you go through the random house things!! It was too dusty crusty for sure, but I'm so curious about the old pots/containers under the kitchen counter.... 👀 The old school makeup cabinet and dishes were so fun. Also that little mint tv is freaking adorable... I wonder if it's something like an old UHF/VHF tv? 📺

Crossing my fingers that you'll find money under the floorboards or in the walls once you start renovating XD So excited to see what you two come up with! This was my favorite house of the ones you showed and I'm so excited for Neko Neko Inn version 2!!

❤ it. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. So many interesting treasures. Previous owners seem to be people who did a little woodworking, a little fishing?, and did a fair amount of cooking. You really do wonder what their life was like. Those miso bowls are lovely, and that shoji is fantastic. Maybe consider Kitote (Norm's shoji) to help in renovating the doors. Ah the "stockpile" of 1 Yen coins 😂 Happy holidays to you and Ushka, and all the best.

Congratulations! A very auspicious start to vlogmas 😊. I keep thinking, right in front of that window would be the very best place for a desk but tjen you'd have to get really creative with the access to the attic. I look forward to seeing what you do with the place and to the rest of vlogmas of course!

I think that was my favorite one too!! It has so much promise!! The stuff you found made me think of the Japanese ghost stories about old household items coming to life! If they did, this house would have it 😂

I love how the running theme to this video is just Sharla on a quest to find money. Is that money? is there money in there? Oh that has to have money in it! 😂😂 I love the Sharla and Ushka duo! It's always fun to watch the things you two get into, new project, yay! Neko Neko Inn 2 💜

The impression I have is that the person (I would guess an old lady) that used to live in this house was keeping all of those pots and fancy things to use in a special ocasion that never came, and they just kept it in boxes. It's kind sad :(

"a better door" for sure - have the hinges on the outside is not safe. I noticed that in the first video too ... need the hinges on the inside!
