03 have 527cc injectors where 04-05 have 577cc injectors. Only difference between them other than 03 having a valve on the fuel rail to check fuel pressure and the lsd trans you mentioned. Also as far as the torque steer goes it can definitely be a problem, but in most cases it's just the engine mounts or control arm bushings. If all that is solid along with other suspension components you'll have very little problems with torque steer. I've had a few srt-4 neons and own 2 currently with one knocking on 500 whp with a stock long block.

I love the srt 4. I've been looking for one as of late. They've held their value well I see. When these first came out one of the guys in my crew traded in his 02 mustang for a black 03 srt and for a min, it ran us all. It really motivated the hell out of me to beef my foxbody up a little lol these were fun cars. I hope I can get a clean one for a decent price

Your srt-4 is very clean man. Had to sell my 04 because of insurance reasons and miss it. Will be looking for a clean one going forward. Nothing sounds better then the srt-4, change my mind.

I have wanted a SRT4 for a very long time, came very close to purchasing a used one once (2009 I believe) but the dealership did some funny stuff so I walked away. I still point them out today when I see one. Problem is buying one in 2022 is such a gamble what condition they are in.

I had a 05 SRT4 burnt orange, stage 3 with all of the bolt ons. Was good for 388hp and 425 torque at the wheels. Just wish it was rear wheel drive. Was a fun car though.

I run stock wheels or 16 inch vw rims but my 04 has 293k drives like a dream I park it every year in winter my 3 year owns it I put coil pack wire up strut bar sway bar links all 4 struts all 3 motor mounts water pump timing belt brakes all the way around but I live up In Vermont rad n fan n hoses both replaced but no check engine light n yes it rides like a trailer

We did a ton of work to that car including the paint job. Take a light and shine it on the driver door sill, her nickname backlash is in pearl. Still can't believe she sold it. You ever need the paint fixed let me know, we still have some left.

I've always had a soft spot for these cars. I've always heard that these cars are relatively reliable with the exception of the 3rd gear synchronizer issue, though that's an easy remedy from my understanding. Much like Ford's MT82 transmission the cause of the Neon SRT4's synchro issues are primarily due to the fork and not the synchro itself. I've heard a simple gear extender/shift selector install will remedy any grinding issues on the SRT4s. I would buy an SRT4 but only one that had a single owner for a significant period of time. Typically, people who own performance cars for years tend to take better care of them than those who like to flip their rides after a short term ownership.

The transmission is why it's not reliable. Classic synchro mesh issue. My srt4 currently has this issue and it's annoying, changed the tranny oil and it got worse too. My 80's cabriolet has it also. You have to rpm match to compensate and some times it grinds or won't go into gear or pops out of gear.

Just wached another video and the guy said this can be due to the clutch needing replacement. I was planning to replace the clutch master cylinder but didn't think the clutch disc was bad as it seems to engage well. Maybe that's the issue as it sounds like the same problem he had. Maybe it will fix it, might give it a try.

I’m thinking of buying another one and I found one locally for 8,500 with 90k miles it’s a 2005 pretty stock which I like. I had a 2003 with 84k miles but the 3rd gear synchro issue so I sold it. I’m the same way I love the stock wheels and I’m not buying the car for power because it doesn’t make a whole lot but these are fun to drive.

Nice video. Always appreciate good srt4 content. Fwiw aftermarket 17” wheel will fit upgraded brakes. I also believe Modern Performance sells a brake kit that’ll fit stock wheels.

Big brake kit will absolutely fit with a 17" wheel. There are guys running the ACR 16" wheels with big brakes .

I've had 03 srt that still spun both tires one a factory one with 27k and it was mostly stock.. it only slips depends on the road ur on I've have a few 03's that spun both tires or only one depends on the road you are one

Good video man, I slipped my clutch the first few days I got mine an 04 at 72k miles so I was invested I have no clue if had a stock clutch or an act. But I've been wanting to put an act in it and be able to drive again it doesn't grab gear all the way so in first I can only go like 7mph I was told by a guy whole has a built srt 4 it might be the master cylinder or the clutch. Whoever owned this car before me built the shit out of it when I first took it for a test drive it was stupid fun but Idk if it is the master cylinder or the clutch my guess is clutch and that's kind of my question is, do I just replace both and say fuck it and be able to drive again
