The guy I purchased my step van tried that on me. Made up a fake buyer to try and validate it. I called his bluff and kept the original price. Private sales are different than dealers though. Glad you found your new home.

I had the best fish dinner in my life barbecued on one of those wheelchair ramps used as a table, the guy would flop it out of his bus put a tablecloth on it and serves dinner to whoever’s around. Embrace the ramp!

Congratulations on the new bus! Sorry for the troubles, but now the fun can start! :) Hey, consider putting in a roof deck that is accessible through one of the emergency hatches... and don't feel bad about that wheelchair lift, it will come in handy to lift heavy and bulky building materials in and may serve as a mini balcony later (and isn't it also cool that your conversion bus is technically ADA compliant? ;)

Great looking bus. If I was doing mine over again I'd leave at least one of the roof vent/hatches in to allow hot air to escape. Of course I don't have AC so that's a consideration. One thing you may want to look into is modifying the exhaust to sweep out the side in front of a rear wheel. That would give you more space under the back for tanks or storage. Looking forward to watching the build

You can't legally. You have to exit exhaust past where any passenger window or door. Note p/I'd can dump out in front of back tires because it's past the cab. Those are dangerous fumes. You can run exhaust on inside of frame rail then have all that space between frame rail and outside body panel.
@carllarsen6234

Exhaust goes out the back to keep carbon monoxide out of the passenger compartment. But Hey, If you die in it; it is bargain priced for the next guy !!

Congratulations, but just a word of warning when driving the bus. I don’t know if any one has mentioned to always be aware of tail swing. When you make a turn the rear of the bus will swing in the opposite direction and can side swipe the vehicle beside your bus. The difficulty lies in all that long length of bus body behind the rear wheels. That is something that your first mini bus did not have. Good luck with the double conversion, fuel system and interior. I have really been enjoying your videos, thank you.

What a SWEET looking ride! That bus is in AWESOME shape! I got a real kick out of you trying to rationalize to yourself the price you paid. Here's what I've learned: 1) If you are going to live in it, and it is what you want - it is worth the money. After all, you have to live someplace - and clearly it is what you wanted; 2) Once the check is cashed, you won't miss it. So, let the price thing go... and enjoy the heck out it! That wheelchair lift represents opportunity. Put your Jax stamp on it and do something cool with it. (No pressure 😊). Looking forward to future episodes. Can't end without a shout-out to Badge!

I’m in opposition to your thoughts! I think one day that amazing square will reveal itself to you. It will amaze you and completely change your mind about the wisdom in which that BUS contains. Tires, AC, and $, are nothing compared to soul and heart. That BUS has SOUL and you are a lucky SOB! Mark my words. There is SOUL in the random and unknowing, only time reveals all. See you on the flip side traveler...

Keep the lift and door. When you convert it, keep in mind the handicapped person who may want to buy it from you. A handicapped skoolie or motorhome will definitely be more valuable to sell to the next owner. You have the lift, let it make you some extra money ! Good luck ! I am a former school bus contractor/owner of the past 25 years and have lived with school buses my entire life. I will be 68 in July. Any questions, please message me. Be glad to help any way I can. Congratulations on your new bus 🚌. You have air bags on the rear axle! Air ride will make a difference. Also, you can add an air tool connection to your air tank (ask Badge). Remember to drain the water from your air system, especially if you're going to be in freezing weather. Good luck, Jax.

You paid a great price for what you got. That usually represents something 3rd hand and much older. You're right about adding alternative A/C and keep in mind the stuff generally beats the life out of solar systems anyway. So AC while driving or while parked or while running the genny, but not boondocking quietly off grid.

I don't think he can really afford to travel the whole country just to find a bus and then dump more money on it, fuel and then build the interior and exterior, others might have less things to worry about such as a KZbin channel (I'm new here, so not sure - might be his job...) Didn't he say that in the last video? he already purchased it then and learned from his mistake prolly.

Then you can install a residential window AC unit on a slider in one of the windows. Lots of room in Dan 2. Shower, washer/dryer? I'm looking forward to the veggie conversion and will be linking to all my 7.3 buddies. I wish you continued success Jax!

I personally love your handicapped door if you come back through the Houston area I would actually get to see inside your rig! I am so jealous of all the rigs that I never get to see the inside of and just love it when KZbinrs like you do tours of other peoples rigs so I can see there insides. I've been in a wheelchair since 2006 with a spinal cord injury and would love to travel but I just live vicariously through so many of you Nomads. You can use your HC ramp as a porch and hang out on it, that is what Enigmatic Nomadics has done with his and he is enjoying it.

Wal-Mart sells a portable roll around AC unit that is not too expensive. I think they are around 18000 btu. You might have to add an extra alternator to the bus , but that is still a cheaper set up if you are having a decent battery bank and power converter. Probably way more efficient than an rv air conditioner. Check it out!

I suggest to keep that handicap door as long as possible - you never know how it might serve a purpose you are not thinking of right now & if it's ripped out it would be too late ....

The handicap ramp could make a nice porch! Looking forward to the conversion videos.

AWESOME👍for getn the bus :) now the fun begins. Great that the tires are good. Give it some thought/research and figure something cool to do with the handicap door. With the condition the bus is in as well as the team of friends you have helping build the inside, its going to be sooooo awesome when its ready to hit the road.

BIG MONEY FTW I like the Skoolies. Its pretty amazing to see all the different ways they are being built out. With this being the 2nd build that Jax is doing I'm sure it is going to be great when him and his friends get done with it.

You did good Jax. I think that what that place did sucks however you're not going to have to do as much work like you said and in the end you still got the one you want. Also I think that you are being vary nice and professional about what happened and no you were not too hard on this business. You did not do them any favors because you rightfully did not recommended them to any one. And you were most honorable by not saying who they are while you were being brutally honest about what happened and how you felt. So even though they were not doing the right thing you did by not dragging their name in the dirt. Good show! I hope that we can all take something from this. Not only on how to buy a bus or anything really but also how to be level headed, honorable and professional. Thank you so much for letting us in on this. I am sure that you are feeling better already and now the fun begins! I am totally looking forward to seeing more. Cheers! :-)

Congrats. I think the wheelchair door will prove to be an advantage as you move larger items in. You can always take out the ramp and just leave the door or close it in with sheet metal. I'm looking forward to your build. Good Luck. Ray from Boise. Also how was the van/bus meet up yesterday? Did you meet Seven Gray?

Nice bus. I drove that type quite a bit. You could use the ramp for a party deck for 2. Looking forward to seeing the conversion.

I think it's a pretty awesome bus, especially with the handicap door. You could use it as your front door and close off the other one. Or, use it to get materials into the bus that might be heavy etc.. How about naming it Uncle Dan? ;-)

Too bad you couldn’t buy this bus in Arizona, since no vehicles ever rust here, and ALL vehicles (including school buses) ALWAYS have AC! I’ll shut up now.

RC ~ I’m with you. I wouldn’t own a vehicle without factory air that’s blowing cold. Having a working a/c says so much about the radiator n water pump n basically the whole cooling system. Let us not forget, all modern vehicles need the factory a/c when running the defroster. It’s how moisture is removed. This gentleman seems to have more patreon money than common sense. But it’s all about the show!! Ya gotta have a hustle if ya wanna collect those entry fees at the gates of the circus. There’s a reason buses from states like California n Arizona n Nevada sell for more. Not to mention the gearing. In Nevada I had school buses passing me, while I was pulling my 20’ WellsCargo trailer, at 75mph, going up hill. Fuel mileage baby. Gearing. Long legs baby. If you wanna highway vehicle and not an around towner or backroader you gotta step up n play with the big boys. You get what you pay for, usually 💕

Hey Rusty, thanks for your helpful comments. We are an Aussie family who are looking for a bus under 30ft from one of the hot dry states. If you happen to know of one for under 5k it would be great to hear from you :)

You could use the lift door as a garage area and store a small motorcycle in it and use the lift to raise and lower the bike...

Who did you get to write the liability insurance? I am having issues getting a quote from my current provider. The bus is on air ride suspension, that’s a plus. The 7.3 is a good motor. Easy to get parts for and even a replacement if needed. Being a 2002 is is pre def and DPF. Big advantage. Air brakes in the long run will be an advantage. You got a good deal. Curious, how many miles are on it ?
