Great to see you back into the new FG project, I remember watching your FG XR6 Turbo video's 4-5 years ago and was amazed by all the DIY work you did so this project will be very interesting to follow. I drive an old FG XT with the 6 speed auto and you're right there very comfortable cars but I've had a few issues with the auto box though it seems to be OK for driving around the suburbs but maybe not for towing, I'll look forward to future progress video's on this excellent ute!

Even though it has relatively high kms, the fact it's never had a tow bar and towed anything is a huge plus. I'd be getting a PWR Trans Cooler with a Thermo fan on it connected to a switch, then constantly have it running whilst towing to keep those ZF gearbox temps down. I'd also take the Rocker cover off and check that it's hopefully nice and clean in there. Congratulations on picking up a bargain. Well done. I will be interested to see where you go with this like what type of wheels you will choose for the load rating of towing. Keep them coming Zac. 💯👍👍

So relatable with fg prices aha, when I was looking a few months back I ended up settling on a n/a mk2 g6e with 217,000 kms for $13k which was one of the cheaper ones at the time. Wish I didn't rush as there were definitely some better buys out there. But yeah most n/a's are around that $8-$12k mark even some closer to $20k being manual/low kilometres, the ute was a very good buy.

Nothing wrong with the ZFs, give the guys at DSRPerformance a call. They'll build you a box to suit your requirements. They built mine, it's in a turbo territory running high 9s.

Get the zf built ,rvo do a stage 1 for 3800 that'll handle 400kws ,nothing wrong with zfs if they're done right. Too much torque kills em ,they're only rated to 600nms stock and being stock the barras put out 550nms so they're almost on the limit already lol Even a basic 300kw barra will pump out 700nms ,zfs hate that and they hate being abused. Rvo is in Victoria and he'll sort ya zf woes no problem 👍
