It is such a fun set, and I like your idea of adding in some more unusual ones; I am very glad to have the dagger and cat's tongue as all of my other brushes are pretty 'standard', and I get stuck in a rut with using the same ones. Now I just need to practice using the dagger and rigger! 😁

Oh wow, these brushes look beautiful! The point on some of them! That tiny one did look hard to use! I love the way that flat brush worked on the background of the jaguar painting, so gorgeous. It seems like the cats tongue had a point sharp enough for a lot of detail already also! But I’m very used to using a round brush also so it would be interesting for me to try some others🥴 ahh I would make a mess. You always inspire me to try! Awesome! I've recently found you and it's So Great finding an Aussie YT Art Channel - Especially being able to relate to what we can and can't/harder to get in Australia and Really excited to see you got Lindsey's GORGEOUS Brush Set! The quality looks beautiful and the attention to detail Lindsey has put in to both the brushes and packaging is really impressive! Lindsey's signature Red Poppies adorning both the Front And Back of what can only be described as a "Brush Jewellery Box," with it's magnetic clasp is Such a Keeper! And those BRUSHES... If brushes could ever be described as "Glamorous," this is it - Just LOOK at them! 😍😍😍 "Sustainability" is completely overused and apart from the wrapper and brush protection, everything is reusable ❤️ And I must say, Great job on the Wild Cat! You're fantastic at birds and animals, brushes... not so much 😂😁 But seriously, you've really captured this leopard beautifully, it's expression is spot on!😍😍😍 But anyways, love your Channel, love your Art, love Lindsey and her Brushes and my Bank Account hates you all - I'm off to purchase a set now after seeing this! 🤣😁

Very nice review, and terrific painting of the jaguar. I’ve done a couple of paintings with mine, and I like that they dont dumps blobs of pigment as I change pressure in the stroke. Hi Becky- thank you for reviewing these brushes. They look very nice. I would imagine that they are pretty snappy compared with natural hair. It looks like the points are very well restored after use which is great. I know the synthetic fibers are getting better and better all the time and it’s good to know these hold a lot of water and pigment. I own a mixture of real and synthetic brushes and there are pro’s and con’s to both. One thing I’ve disliked about synthetic bristles is that the points develop hook shapes. I’d be interested to see if these have that issue as well. I also don’t really use a rigger very much and would rather have seen a size 4 or 6 in this set. I think you did a great job on both paintings!

It was great to see an unboxing! They look very nice. Lindsay kept mentioning the fibers are made by a well known company and I keep wondering if it's Princeton. They do look similar! I think the black haired ones might have the same hairs as the Neptune, and I bet the others are the Heritage series. Use the rigger brush with the handle pointing away from you, and hold it much closer to the ferrule. (Bob Ross demonstrates in nearly every show.) Instead of drawing lines carefully, just flick it upwards to create grasses and what not. It actually makes great cat whiskers. Do some practice before you do it on a painting and you will get the hang of it in no time. Chinese calligraphy brushes do contain animal glue when they are new, but typically western brushes are hardened with gum arabic - just watercolor binder. So it's not exactly icky :-)
@BeckyTregear2 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't surprise me if they are Princeton as those brushes are excellent too! Whoever made them...they did a wonderful job. ❤️ Yes, lots more practice with that rigger is needed; probably off camera when there is less pressure, lol. Binder...of course! 🙈

A bucket of tea? Don't mean a mug or cup of tea? I didn't know about drying the brushes flat. I usually take a paper towel or real towel and try to get as much of the water out that way and then put them in a cup standing up to dry. I live in So Cal which is basically desert so they dry rather quickly. In less than a couple hours they are dry. One to remember is to never leave them soaking in a container of water. I used to do that when I didn't know any better. Ha. So I guess I will be putting these on my wish list even though I have very good brushes on hand, synthetic, natural and mixed. I am really interested in that "cat's tongue" one. Thanks for reviewing those. I was wondering about them when Lindsay W. announced their release.
@BeckyTregear2 жыл бұрын
Haha yes it's a mug, but it's a very big mug so I call it a bucket. 😂 I think as long as the brushes dry quickly or you take most of the water off with a towel, it is a lot less of an issue - I have just gotten into the habit of storing things horizontally but I've heard the advice many times of not storing wet brushes upright. I am happy to report that this set of brushes is lovely. 😊

Nice review. I do like a good flat myself, as well as a cat’s tongue. Oddly enough I got a bit frustrated with a brush very similar to a rigger only today, abmenso brush. Took me ages to work out how to make it work for me. Loved your Jaguar! I like your attitude to subject matter, ‘I really wanted to paint this Jaguar’. Was a bit startled at your Schmincke colour shift, nothing to do with your review or your nice jaguar, oh, I forgot to mention the brushes that look really nice. I am not a purist over animal hair, but cannot stand it when some flying insect eats a brush up and all that is left is a ferrule with a handle on it. These critters do eat squirrel at a slower rate than sable, but don’t even try to nibble the synthetics. It’s a nice set and if I were in the market for some right now I would probably lust after these a bit, I would love to know what choices you would make other than the number 4 you missed having….. I love a squirrel mop myself, traditional or synthetic…. It is alsays fascinating to know what other people choices are!
@BeckyTregear2 жыл бұрын
That's a valid point about bugs eating natural hair! I haven't had that issue...yet...😬 I'd have to have a long think about which brushes I'd pick; maybe a smaller flat, or even a filbert as I quite like using those. But otherwise, not a clue! 🙈 The drying shift is mainly due to the Etchr Paper, as it sucks paint up like crazy and does it with all brands; multiple layers must be used for vibrancy!
@lindyashford77442 жыл бұрын
@@BeckyTregear I will know not to buy Etchr then, I am using some very nice Jackson’s eco paper, heavy weight, came in huge decked sheets very good value and cuts down fine. I could get it bound but it dries so nice and flat that I don’t bother. Thanks for explain what was going on, one of my aims is to learn how cadmium colours work, if you know about them I would be very interested, they handle so differently from most pigments.
