I think about that a lot! She doesn't love that I know everything but, then again, she actually seems to feel safer. She knows I can protect her. She also regularly tells me how little her friend's parents do anything parental when it comes to tech (not in a good way). Like she's worried about her friends safety.

@@Blueblur599 A lot of her friends had Twitter at 10 years old. That's not safe (and not legal). You may not agree with my parenting style but my kid understands the dangers and can be a voice of reason when her friends engage in unsafe behavior. She now has a smartphone and a couple social media apps. This is age appropriate parenting.

I had a hand me down Galaxy note5 and then accidentally dropping breaking the screen, then got a hand me down Galaxy S8+ and then my dad wanted to get himself a Note10+ so i got a Note 9, then got me an iPhone 11 in Nov. 30, 2019. To be clear Me-Note5->Screen Breaks-> Mom gets S9-> I get old S8+-> Dad gets Note10(Still has it)-> I get old Note9-> I get iPhone 11, and i don't regret it.(except the screen break)

Sexual trafficking and grooming is a real issue. I have a daughter and anything I can do to protect her from being targeted on the internet via apps, I will. It's parenting. Each parent does it differently. I know how dangerous it can be out there (this is my job) so I have the power and knowledge to have a higher level of protection than the typical parent.

My kid is pretty happy now. She's currently 15 with an 8+. She's also happy that I know so much and can protect her. Of course she's not super excited when I say no but she understands my reasoning because I explain it to her.
